  • The sub-frame of passenger car begins to be used widely for the safety of passengers. Conventional design of the sub-frame comprises 22parts, and it requires quite complicated production processes. In this papers, the sub-frame is designed with TWB(Tailor Welded Blanks) to improve stiffness, to reduce weight and to simplify the manufacturing process. To design the proper structure, structural analysis and crash analysis are executed about the conventional design and TWB applied design. A prototype TWB applied sub-frame is manufactured using mash-seam welded TB(Tailored Blanks). Comparing with the conventional sub-frame, the TWB applied sub-frame has 30% weight reduction and 17% increasement of structural stiffness in average.

  • In commercial vehicle, sub-frame which equipped in main frame supporting dump deck and oil tanker. This is the main structure for all equipment which including joint function. Sub-frame is made by welding process, this susceptible to deform and crack by its longitudinal size. Also various kind of sub-frame make it difficult to standardization in manufacturing process and exclusive jig is not adapted yet. Frame size is over 6~8m and weight is more than 300kg this make re-work more difficult. If manufacturing company made precise sub-frame, this is not only convenient for customers but also save the company money by reducing the working time. In this study manufacture the sub-frame be suitable for its main function and develop exclusive welding jig for obtain checking fixture function as well.

  • Earlier investigators have made detailed studies of geometric properties such as integrability, partial integrability, and invariants, such as the fundamental 2-form, of some canonical f-structures, such as f3 ± f = 0, on the frame bundle FM. Our aim is to study metallic structures on the frame bundle: polynomial structures of degree 2 satisfying F2 = pF +qI where p, q are positive integers. We introduce a tensor field Fα, α = 1, 2…, n on FM show that it is a metallic structure. Theorems on Nijenhuis tensor and integrability of metallic structure Fα on FM are also proved. Furthermore, the diagonal lifts gD and the fundamental 2-form Ωα of a metallic structure Fα on FM are established. Moreover, the integrability condition for horizontal lift FαH of a metallic structure Fα on FM is determined as an application. Finally, the golden structure that is a particular case of a metallic structure on FM is discussed as an example.

  • This paper presents a design methodology for improving dynamic stiffness of an inspection robot frame to prevent resonance. Finite element models of robot frame are developed for natural frequency analysis. Natural frequency analysis of robot frame is conducted to compare with sub-span oscillation which is excitation frequency. Reinforcement beams are applied to the sensitive parts of the robot frame to improve dynamic stiffness using case study. To reduce mass of the robot frame, thickness optimization of the robot frame is carried out by utilizing response surface method. The result of optimization show that dynamic stiffness of robot frame is increased. As a result, natural frequency of an optimal model is not included in range of frequencies of the sub-span oscillation.

  • The need for the lightweight of special vehicle trailer frame is substantially growing due to high gasoline prices and serious environmental issues. In this study, we develop a new lightweight sub-frame for large container trailers and evaluate its durability through a fatigue test. To this end, a reliable three-dimensional parametric finite element model of a sub-frame is constructed and then an optimized lightweight sub-frame is newly developed by using the Taguchi method. Next, we make a trial product of the optimized lightweight sub-frame and conduct a driving test to identify the driving load history at vulnerable areas. Finally, we evaluate the durability of the developed lightweight sub-frame through a fatigue test based on the load history.

  • Durability performance evaluation of automotive components is very important and time consuming task. In this paper, to reduce vehicle component development time and cost virtual testing simulation technology is used to evaluate durability performance of a passenger car front aluminum sub-frame. Multibody dynamics based vehicle model and virtual test simulation model of a half car road simulator are validated by comparisons between rig test results and simulation results. Durability life prediction of the sub-frame is carried out using the model with road load data of proving ground which can evaluate accelerated durability life. We found that the durability performance of the sub-frame is sufficient and it can be predicted within short time compared to rig test time.

  • Sub-frame is a key component to damp the vibration of engine-born and isolate the input force from a ground. To enhance the performance of the sub-frame of vehicle, its structure should be designed to be a high performing mechanical filter that exclude the low frequency vibration elements. In this paper, a contribution analysis based on the frequency response function(FRF) is introduced to detect a high sensitive position of the target sub-frame and its results are validated with a SDM(structural dynamic modification) analysis.

  • In this paper, a read-in integrated circuit (RIIC) for IR scene projectors (IRSPs) adopting a sub-frame control technique is proposed, which minimizes the reduction of the apparent temperature of the IR images projected from IRSPs operating at a frame rate of 30 Hz. The proposed sub-frame control technique significantly reduces the amount of scene data loss on capacitors, which is caused by leakage currents flowing through MOSFET switches during holding periods, by dividing a unit frame into 8 sub-frames and refreshing the same scene data for each sub-frame. A current-drive RIIC was designed for the higher apparent temperature of IR radiated from the emitter, and it receives the scene data as a form of analog voltages from an external DAC. A prototype chip with a $64{\times}32$ RIIC array was fabricated using Magnachip/SKhynix $0.35{\mu}m$ 2-poly 4-metal CMOS process, and the measured maximum output data current is $230.3{\mu}A$. This amount of current ensures the projection of IR images whose maximum apparent temperature is $366.2^{\circ}C$ in the mid-wavelength IR (MWIR) when applied to a prototype emitter having a resistance of $15k{\Omega}$.

  • A characterization of frame operators of finite Gabor frames is presented here. Regularity aspects of Gabor frames in 𝑙2(ℤN) are discussed by introducing associated semi-frame operators. Gabor type frames in finite dimensional Hilbert spaces are also introduced and discussed.
