  • Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.

  • Although the application period of hot weather concrete in our country is two months of July~August which is relatively short, many problems in various aspects such as generation of plastic/dry contraction cracks and cold joints can be caused unless proper quality control measures are established at this time. Therefore, this study compared the temperature history of the placed concrete by applying a mono white and aluminum-deposited bubble sheet developed with surface coating curing materials for surface exposure and summer to an actually constructed apartment slab. The analysis result showed that the mono white bubble sheet is the best method.

  • Many problems in various aspects such as generation of plastic/dry contraction cracks and cold joints can be caused unless proper quality control measures are established in hot weather circumstances. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the crack patterns of concrete by applying a change in 3 surface curing methods such as a mono aluminum-deposited bubble sheet developed to reduce the temperature and cracks through reflection of heat in summer and a PE film and a surface exposure used generally to an actually constructed apartment slab. The study result confirmed that the best concrete crack reduction effect can be obtained with a mono aluminum-deposited bubble sheet.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in the degree of conversion on a composite resin surface following heat treatment and mylar strip finishing. The effects of the time interval between the light-curing and heat-curing process were also evaluated. The composite resin surface which had been covered with a coverglass showed a lower conversion rate than the surface from which a layer of $500{\mu}m$ was ground away. The composite resin surface was definitely affected by oxygen during the heat curing process when it had not been insulated. When the composite resins were heat cured after 3 days of storage following the light curing process, the increased in the degree of conversion through heatcuring was limited.

  • This paper investigates insulating effects and strength properties of concrete under cold climate carrying out the experiment with insulating forms on the slab member. According to test results, under $-10^{\circ}C$ of outer temperature, the surface of concrete exposed to outer temperature goes below zero after 10hours since exposed. And, the surface of concrete covered with vinyl and blanket goes below zero after 42hours. However, the surface of concrete covered with insulating materials such as polystyrene foam does not drop below zero until 55hours. And, according to coring sample strength test, compressive strength cured with insulation shows much higher strength than no insulation curing condition and vinyl and blanket curing condition.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bond strength between the composite resin and light - cured glass ionomer cement base / liners treated by the several methods. The light - cured glass ionomer cement(Vitrebond / Cavalite) were injected into cavites prepared in acrylic plates. One hundred and twenty specimens were uniformly prepared and devided into 3 groups. For the first group, primer was not applied to glass ionomer cement. For the second group, no application of primer was undertaken and light - curing procedure to uncured glass ionomer cement surface which was covered by bonding agent was undertaken. After bonding composite resin to light - cured glass ionomer surface, the specimens, were stored in $37^{\circ}C$, 100% humidity for 1 hour. The following results were obtained : 1. The omission of application of a primer did not produce a significantly poorer bond strength. 2. Light - curing technique to uncured glass ionomer cement which was covered by bonding agent did not produce a significantly poorer bonding strength. 3. The bond strength of Cavalite to composite resin was significantly higher than that of Vitrebond. 4. There was no significant difference between two different types of composite materials(Silux-Plus / Herculite XR) when it was applied to bond to glass ionomer cement.

  • In this research, the performance of surface covering technique using a white-colored bubble sheet on reducing the cracking due to the plastic, and drying shrinkages for high rise building construction were evaluated by comparing the exposed surface without any surface treatment. From the results of the experiment conducted during fall season, desired results of decreased numbers, length, maximum width, and area of cracking were obtained without a significant difference on heat of hydration and cumulative temperature. Therefore, it is considered that the surface covering technique using bubble sheet is an appropriate method for preventing plastic and drying shrinkage cracking at fall season concrete construction.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of glycerin topical application on the surface hardness of composite after curing. Materials and Methods: A composite (Z-250, 3M ESPE) was packed into a disc-shaped brass mold and light cured according to one of the following protocols. Group 1 (control) was exposed to air and light cured for 40 sec, group 2 was covered with a Mylar strip and light cured for 40 sec, group 3 was surface coated with glycerin and light cured for 40 sec, and group 4 was exposed to air and light cured for 20 sec and then surface coated with glycerin and cured for additional 20 sec. Twenty specimens were prepared for each group. The surface hardnesses of specimens were measured with or without polishing. Five days later, the surface hardness of each specimen was measured again. Data were analyzed by three-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc tests. Results: The surface hardnesses of the unpolished specimens immediately after curing decreased in the following order: group 2 > 3 > 4 > 1. For the polished specimens, there was no significant difference among the groups. Within the same group, the hardness measured after five days was increased compared to that immediately after curing, and the polished specimens showed greater hardness than did the unpolished specimens. Conclusions: The most effective way to increase the surface hardness of composite is polishing after curing. The uses of a Mylar strip or glycerin topical application before curing is recommended.

  • In this research, the surface covered curing method using the double-layered bubble sheet was evaluated. This double-layered bubble sheet has outstanding insulating performance with its low heat conductivity and high economic feasibility with its high durability. However, in the case of wall-typed building construction, the area of exposed rebar is curious on curing performance with the double-layered bubble sheet in spite of the double-layered bubble sheet showed favorable performance for slab. Therefore, in this research, regarding the actually constructed wall-typed apartment building, the most efficient curing method was suggested based on the evaluation of curing performance depending on temperature distribution depending on various location of covered or exposed rebar. As a result, the D method was determined as the most efficient curing method without any concern of early-age frost damage. However, by considering easiness of construction, the B method of covering the pieced double-layered bubble sheet on gap between rebars can be another option of desired result.

  • The greenhouse hulk curing and drying system utilizing the direct solar energy was tested to see how much fuel could be saved for curing flue-cured tobacco at the Daegu Experiment Station, Korea Tobacco Research Institute (North latitute: 35$^{\circ}$49'), in 1979. The structure consists of transparent fiberglass exterior, polyurethan boards covered with galvanized iron as the heat absorbers and insulation boards, air duct in which the air is introduced to the furnace room of bulk curing barn, and gravel heat storage system. All exterior surface of heat absorbers, air duct, and gravels were coated with black paint. The air temperature and total radiation were 20.5 to 35.5$^{\circ}C$ and 1004.2 to 1436.2 cal/$\textrm{cm}^2$ during the 3 replicated curing tests, respectively. The greenhouse bulk curing and drying system was able to cut fuel consumption by 25 percent compared with the conventional bulk curing barn. The maximum temperatures for the top absorber and the inlet air of the system were 89$^{\circ}C$ and 64$^{\circ}C$, respectively, and the average temperature of inlet air was higher than that of conventional one by 18$^{\circ}C$.
