Cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine의 미세 입자 제조를 위한 결정화 연구 (The study on crystallization for fine particles of Cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine)

  • In T-mixer crystallization, supersaturation is generated by mixing of another solvent or non-solvent in order to reduce the solubility of the compound. Also, T-mixer is a type of continuous crystallization. In order to induce micro-mixing, two solutions were mixed rapidly by T-mixer, which formed high supersaturation. As the results, mean size of HMX crystals decreased with increasing de-supersaturation rate $(R_s)$. Eventually, HMX particles ranging from 0.5 to $5{\mu}m$ can be obtained by T-mixer crystallization. Mixing efficiency in T-mixer increased with increasing $R_s$ values. In T-mixer crystallization without surfactants, homogeneous nucleation was formed when S and $R_s$ was over 54 and $1.6{\times}10^3/sec$. In T-mixer crystallization with surfactants, homogeneous nucleation was formed when S and $R_s$ was over 26 and 7.4/sec.

Ka-band high-$T_c$ superconductor and III-V semiconductor hybrid balanced mixer

  • We demonstrated a single balanced mixer of the combination of high-T. superconductor (HTS) and III-V GaAs beam lead Schottky diodes operating in the mini-cryogenic chamber. The HTS hybrid mixer was designed with a center frequency of 27.5 GHz and a bandwidth of 1 GHz, and consisted of a rat-race coupler circuit with beam-lead diodes attached to its balanced ports. The HTS hybrid mixer with 1 GHz RF bandwidths exhibits a conversion loss of 6 dB. A LO-to-RF isolation was greater than 40 dB in the range of operating frequencies. Since the HTS/III-V hybrid mixer devices have lower noise and conversion loss, this technique provide us with new capabilities that can be effectively utilized in the field of local-point distribution service (LMDS) systems.

Design and Implementation of a Single Bias FET Source Mixer

  • A new type of FET source mixer with a single bias voltage has been presented. It is designed to operate at Vds=0 [V] with only one positive supply voltage, which makes mixer circuits simple. The proposed mixer has shown improved stability and less sensitivity to both bias and LO power compared with conventional active mixers. It also shows lower conversion loss than that of diode mixers. The minimum conversion loss measured at RF frequency of 5.6㎓ is 0.6㏈ for a LO frequency of 5.8㎓.

  • 가공기기의 기하학적 구조(geometry)가 실리카 분산에 대해 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서 롤밀(two roll mill)과 밀폐식 혼합기(internal mixer)를 사용하여 실리카가 충전된 부틸고무 가황물을 제조하여 가황특성, 인장특성 및 실리카 분산을 비교하였다. 가공 시, 롤밀을 사용하여 제조한 배합물은 밀폐식 혼합기를 사용하여 제조한 배합물보다 경화 속도($t_{90}$)는 약간 느렸으나, 긴 유도시간($ts_2$), 높은 최대 토크 값($T_{max}$)을 보였다. 또한 롤밀을 사용하여 제조한 배합물은 실리카 입자의 분산 및 기계적 물성의 특성에 있어서 밀폐식 혼합기를 사용했을시 보다 상대적으로 우수함을 보였다.

  • One of the obstructing factors against managing large-scaled dairy farm in Korea has been heavy labor requirement for feeding dairy cows. A tractor attached TMR mixer was developed to reduce the cost and to provide economic benefit in this research. The TMR mixer was designed to have a feeding capacity of 35 heads at a batch with various functioning systems of paddle type mixer, cutter and grinder, delivery conveyor, weighing console, power transmission train, and mounting trailer. The maximum power required during the mixing operarion was 26.3 kw(P.T.O), readily available from 32kw-rated tractors, which had been widely used in Korea. Low coefficient of variation(14.0%) revealed an uniform mixing performance of the mixer. The mixer can also be used in compost mixing as well as concentrates and roughage.

논 엘레멘트 믹서의 혼합 메커니즘에 관한 수치해석적 검토 (Numerical Analysis Study of the Mixing Mechanism of Non-element Mixer)

  • Visualization of the mixing pattern in a non-element mixer was carried out using laser induced fluorescence(LIF) to evaluate characteristics of mixer consisting of the main flow pipe and branch flow pipes. The branch flows were injected periodically with the period $T_{in}$ normal to the main flow, and rhodamine B was mixed into the most upstream branch flow to visualize mixing pattern in the main flow pipe by LIF. The length of boundary line L of the LIF image was measured. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to identify the mixing process of the non-element mixer, and the results were compared with experimental results. Each result was almost the same. When the number of branch flows is increased, the mixing pattern became complicated and was supposed to become chaotic. The length of boundary line L increased exponentially with an increase in the number of branch flows.

마이크로 채널 내 혼합부 형상이 2상 유동 양식에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (Effect of Various Shapes of Mixer Geometry on Two-Phase Flow Patterns in a Micro-Channel)

  • The effect of inlet mixer geometries on the two-phase flow patterns in square micro-channel with $600{\times}600{\mu}m$ was investigated experimentally in this paper. The 4 different mixer configurations based on the Y, Impacting, and two T types (gas and liquid inlets were switched) were used. The test fluids were nitrogen and water. The liquid and gas superficial velocities were 0.01~10 m/s and 0.1~100 m/s, respectively. Several distinctive flow patterns, namely, annular, slug-annular, slug, slug-bubbly, bubbly, and churn flow could be seen. The flow pattern maps for each mixer were suggested, and it can be concluded that two-phase flow patterns are not very sensitive to the mixer geometries. But the mixing behaviors of gas and liquid for each mixer were different for slug and bubbly flow. Thus, the characteristics of slug and bubble for each case were not same.

Design of a 94-GHz Single Balanced Mixer Using Planar Schottky Diodes with a Nano-Dot Structure on a GaAs Substrate

  • In this paper, we develop a 94-GHz single balanced mixer with low conversion loss using planar Schottky diodes on a GaAs substrate. The GaAs Schottky diode has a nanoscale anode with a T-shaped disk that can yield high cutoff frequency characteristics. The fabricated Schottky diode with an anode diameter of 500 nm has a series resistance of 21 Ω, an ideality factor of 1.32, a junction capacitance of 8.03 fF, and a cutoff frequency of 944 GHz. Based on this technology, a 94-GHz single balanced mixer was constructed. The fabricated mixer shows an average conversion loss of -7.58 dB at an RF frequency of 92.5 GHz to 95 GHz and an IF frequency of 500 MHz with an LO power of 7 dBm. The RF-to-LO isolation characteristics were greater than -32 dB. These values are considered to be attributed to superior Schottky diode characteristics.

  • In this paper, high LO-RF isolation 94 GHz MMIC single-balanced mixer was designed and fabricated using a branch line coupler and a ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line. The 94 GHz MMIC single-balanced mixer was designed using the 0.1 ${\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs Metamorphic HEMT(MHEMT) diode. The fabricated MHEMT was obtained the cut-off frequency($f_T$) of 189 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) of 334 GHz. The designed MMIC single-balanced mixer was fabricated using 0.1 ${\mu}m$ MHEMT MMIC process. From the measurement, the conversion loss of the single-balanced mixer was 23.1 dB at an LO power of 10 dBm. The LO-RF isolations of single-balanced mixer was obtained 45.5 dB at 94.19 GHz. We obtained in this study a higher LO-RF isolation compared to some other balanced mixers in millimeter-wave frequencies.

미소 T 채널의 혼합 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on mixing characteristics of T-type micro channel)

  • We simulated the mixing characteristics in micro T-channel using Lattice Boltzmann Method. We studied the relation a mixing length and pressure-drop due to inlet and outlet ration in Reynolds number 0.5, Peclet number 500 and Schmidt 1000. The ratio of a down-inlet to up-inlet was $0.5{\sim}1.5$ times, up-inlet to outlet was $1{\sim}3$ times and outlet length was 250 times to up-inlet. The mixing length decrease linearly as outlet ratio decreased, and pressure-drip increase non-linearly. Initial stage of micro channel mixture was fast by down-inlet ratio, however, the mixing length is not influence.
