Power Quality Analysis of Jeju System Considering HVDC Overhaul and Wind Turbines (HVDC Overhaul 및 풍력발전을 고려한 제주계통 전력품질 분석)

  • Power system of Jeju is interconnected to the mainland using HVDC and that is also interconnected two wind farms. Control of Jeju power system will be difficult if HVDC is disconnected or HVDC is overhauled under large scale wind farms interconnected. We measured and analysed the power quality of two substation and two wind farms to assess that wind farms and HVDC overhaul have an effect on Jeju system or not during the HVDC overhaul. We found that the frequency of Jeju system is very unstable and the voltage distortion excess the limitation. Harmonic currents of wind farms flew into Jeju system in proportion to the power of wind turbine. And the voltage of nearby distribution line was distorted by power of wind turbine when the amount is more that 3,000[kW].

  • In this paper, a type and special feature of Multi-level inverter used in medium-voltage and high-capacity motor driver is introduced. Especially, a power quality and structural advantages of H-Bridge Multi-level inverter is described. It presented the specific structure of power circuit, design method, controller composition and PWM techniques of the cascaded H-Bridge Multi-level inverter which is developed. The feasibility of the developed product based on 3,300V lMVA 7-level H-bridge inverter was studied by experiments and we get conclusion that 1)generate of near-sinusoidal output voltage; 2)is low dv/dt at output voltage; 3)reduce the harmonic injection at input; Experiment demonstrate that it is very economical in productivity because of using the existing production technique and examination equipment, and has the reliability and a good maintenance due to the structure of Power Cell unit combination as well as low cost IGBT.

  • Now it's a trend to install a series of white fluorescent light and orange high pressure sodium lamps because tunnel lighting should be opaque to the safety of drivers from soot, dust, humidity, and fog. Also fluorescent lighting is replaced to LED due to the fact that it improves amenity and object recognition and LED lighting has gradually been improved its nature. In this paper, we have implemented the circuits of the yellow series of high-pressure sodium lamps and white series of LED lights at one board to improve the transparency and recognition of objects. It is possible for inductive high-pressure sodium lamps and the capacitive LED drivers to circuit without power factor compensation. Two circuit parts share only a small number of parts, so low cost LED drivers compared to conventional ones are possible. Therefore, the implementation of the hybrid lighting with high-pressure sodium lamps and LED lights that can be driven at the same time by one driving circuit is possible. The LED capacitive power factor was 0.91 while individually implemented the sodium lamp power factor was 0.98. It shows not only the 2% improvement of hybrid forms but also the efficiency and THD.

  • This paper presents about energy input and output modeling for a flywheel energy storage system that can store and supply mechanical energy, which is emerging as one of clean energy sources, and the analysis and control of a PWM inverter system. Moreover, this paper describes flywheel's characteristics related to variations of mechanical and electrical parameters like as voltage and current versus speed characteristics formed as numerical formula and thus simulate behaviour-status of flywheel energy. Also for comparison and analysis between PI control and PDFF control, the modeling, design and analysis to the single-phase full bridge inverter with double loop feedback control is accomplished through numerical description and simulation. Finally, under load condition 0.1[pu], 1[pu]. it is validated that harmonic characteristics for voltage and current wave is controlled within 5% below even dynamics condition.

원자층증착법을 이용한 Y2O3 박막 형성 및 저항 스위칭 특성

  • Yttrium oxide (Y2O3)는 band gap이 5.5 eV 정도로 상대적으로 넓고, 굴절상수가 1.8, 유전율이 10~15, Silicon 과의 격자 불일치가 작은 특성을 가지고 있다. 또한 녹는점이 높아 열적으로 안정하기 때문에 전자소자 및 광학소자에 다양하게 응용되는 물질이다. Y2O3 박막은 다양한 방법으로 증착할 수 있는데, 그 방법에는 e-beam evaporation, laser ablation, sputtering, thermal oxidation, metal-organic chemical vapor deposition, and atomic layer deposition (ALD) 등이 있다. ALD는 기판 표면에 흡착된 원자들의 자기 제한적 반응에 의하여 박막이 증착되기 때문에 박막 두께조절이 용이하고 step coverage와 uniformity 측면에서 큰 장점이 있다. 이전에는 Y(thd)3 and Y(CH3Cp)3 와 같은 금속 전구체를 이용하여 ALD를 진행하여, 증착 속도가 낮고 defect이 많아 non-stoichiometric한 조성의 박막이 증착되는 문제점이 있었다. 이번 연구에서는, (iPrCp)2Y(iPr-amd)와 탈이온수를 사용하여 Y2O3 박막을 증착하였다. Y2O3 박막 증착에 사용한 Y 전구체는 상온에서 액체이고 $192^{\circ}C$ 에서 1 Torr의 높은 증기압을 갖는다. Y2O3 박막 증착을 위하여 Y 전구체는 $150^{\circ}C$ 로 가열하여 N2 gas를 이용하여 bubbling 방식으로 공정 챔버 내로 공급하였다. Y2O3 박막의 ALD window는 $250{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ 였으며, Y 전구체의 공급시간이 5초에 다다르자 더 이상 증착 두께가 증가하지 않는 자기 제한적 반응을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 증착된 Y2O3 박막의 특성 분석을 위해 Atomic force microscopy (AFM)과 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) 를 진행하였다. 박막의 Surface morphology 는 매끄럽고 uniform 하였으며, 특히 고체 금속 전구체를 사용했을 때와 비교하여 수산화물이 거의 없는 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. 그리고 조성 분석을 통해 증착된 Y2O3 박막이 stoichiometric하다는 것을 알수 있었다. 또한 metal-insulator-metal (MIM) 구조 (Ru/Y2O3/Ru) 의 resistor 소자를 형성하여 저항 스위칭 특성을 확인하였다.

Effects of crude Saponin on growth and Aflatoxin production by Aspergillus parasiticus (Saponin이 Aspergillus parasiticus의 발육과 Aflatoxin생합성에 미치는 효과)

  • The research was carried out for the purpose of finding effects of gerbal saponins on aflatoxin synthesis by Aspergillus parasitics NRRL 2999. A. parasiticus with $10^6$ conidia were grown at $30^{\circ}C$ for 9 days on the enriched medium that is optimum for the frowth and aflatoxins production by the mold. The inhibitory effect on the growth and aflatoxins produced by the mold occurred in the presence of 0.36% of crude red-ginseng saponin showing both the growth and aflatoxins production come to 62.3% (growth), 38.7% (aflatoxin $B_1$) and 22.9% (aflatoxin $G_1$) of the control. Thd next effective saponin to inhibit the growth and aflatoxins production was from burdock seeds. However, saponin extracted from honeysuckle flowers had no inhibitory effect. The mold caused no changes in the pH of the medium when it contained red-ginseng saponin. Red-ginseng saponin was more effective than the white-ginseng in inhibiting both the growth and aflatoxin production.

A speed controller design for low speed marine diesel engine by the $\mu$-synthesis ($\mu$-설계법에 의한 저속 박용디젤기관의 속도제어기 설계)

  • In the field of marine transportation the energy saving is one of the most important factors for profit. In order to reduce the fuel oil consumption the ship's propulsion efficiency must be increased as much as possible. The propulsion efficiency depends upon a combination of an engine and a propeller. The propeller has better efficiency as lower rotational speed. This situation led the engine manufacturers to design the engine that has lower speed, longer stroke and a small number of cylinders. Consequently the variation of rotational torque became larger than before because of the longer delay-time in the fuel oil injection process and an increased output per cylinder. As this new trends the conventional mechanical-hydrualic governors for engine speed control have been replaced by digital speed controllers which adopted the PID control or the optimal control algorithm. But these control algorithms have not enough robustness to suppress the variation of the delay-time and the parameter pertubation. In this paper we consider the delay-time and the perturbation of engine parameters as the modeling uncetainties. Next we design the controller which has zero offset in steady state engine speed, based on the two-degree-of-freedom control theory and $\mu$-synthesis. Thd validity of the controller is investigated through the response simulation. We use a personal computer and an analog computer as the digital controller and the engine (plant) part respectively. And, we certify that the designed controller maintains its performance even though the engine parameters may vary.

  • 최근 급속한 산업 발달로 인하여 기존의 수 MW급 대용량 인버터가 산업용 팬, 컴프레서, 고속 철도 시스템 등 여러 분야에 사용되면서 이와 관련된 대용량 인버터 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 이런 대용량 인버터는 고효율과 직병렬의 구성된 전력용반도체 소자를 동시다발적으로 제어되어야하기 때문에 멀티레벨 인버터의 구조가 가장 적합하다. Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨 인버터는 커패시터와 다이오드를 사용하지 않고 스위치만으로 구성하며, 필터를 따로 구성하지 않아도 정현파와 유사하게 전압을 출력할 수 있다. 이로 인해 고주파 감소 및 각 셀을 직렬로 연결하여 입력전압보다 높은 출력전압을 얻을 수 있다. 또한, 스위칭 방법에 따라 동일한 Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨인버터 토폴로지에서도 각 THD와 온도에 따른 손실이 달라질 수 있다. Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨 인버터에서 이용하는 스위칭 방식은 첫 번째로 유니폴라 방식을 기본으로 한 Phase-shift가 있다. 이는 180도 위상차를 갖는 2개의 레퍼런스 파형과 위상천이가 된 캐리어 파형의 비교로 PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) 을 수행한다. 두 번째 방식으로는 Level-shift가 있다. 이는 캐리어 파형을 IPD (In-Phase Disposition) 방식으로 수직적으로 대역폭이 연속적이게 나열하여 레퍼런스 파형과 비교하는 PWM방식이다. 본 논문에서는 Phase-shift와 Level-shift 방식에 따른 Cascaded H-bridge 인버터와 NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) 인버터를 결합한 토폴로지에서의 온도에 따른 손실을 분석하고, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교 분석하였다.

Study of Harmonic Suppression of Ship Electric Propulsion Systems

  • This paper studies the harmonic characteristics of ship electric propulsion systems and their treatment methods. It also adopts effective measures to suppress and prevent ship power systems from affecting ship operation due to the serious damage caused by harmonics. Firstly, the harmonic characteristics of a ship electric propulsion system are reviewed and discussed. Secondly, aiming at problems such as resonant frequency and filter characteristics variations, resonance point migration, and unstable filtering performances in conventional passive filters, a method for fully tuning of a passive dynamic tunable filter (PDTF) is proposed to realize harmonic suppression. Thirdly, to address the problems of the uncontrollable inductance L of traditional air gap iron core reactors and the harmonics of power electronic impedance converters (PEICs), this paper proposes an electromagnetic coupling reactor with impedance transformation and harmonic suppression characteristics (ECRITHS), with the internal filter (IF) designed to suppress the harmonics generated by PEICs. The ECRITHS is characterized by both harmonic suppression and impedance change. Fourthly, the ECRITHS is investigated. This investigation includes the harmonic suppression characteristics and impedance transformation characteristics of the ECRITHS at the fundamental frequency, which shows the good performance of the ECRITHS. Simulation and experimental evaluations of the PDTF are carried out. Multiple PDTFs can be configured to realize multi-order simultaneous dynamic filtering, and can effectively eliminate the current harmonics of ship electric propulsion systems. This is done to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the supply currents to well below the 5% limit imposed by the IEEE-519 standard. The PDTF also can eliminate harmonic currents in different geographic places by using a low voltage distribution system. Finally, a detailed discussion is presented, with challenges and future implications discussed. The research results are intended to effectively eliminate the harmonics of ship electric power propulsion systems and to improve the power quality of ship power systems. This is of theoretical and practical significance for improving the power quality and power savings of ship power systems.

A Robust Harmonic Compensation Technique using Digital Lock-in Amplifier under the Non-Sinusoidal Grid Voltage Conditions for the Single Phase Grid Connected Inverters (디지털 록인 앰프를 이용한 비정현 계통 전압 하에서 강인한 단상계통 연계 인 버터용 고조파 보상법)

  • The power quality of Single Phase Grid-Connected Inverters (GCIs) has received much attention with the increasing number of Distributed Generation (DG) systems. However, the performance of single phase GCIs get degraded due to several factors such as the grid voltage harmonics, the dead time effect, and the turn ON/OFF of the switches, which causes the harmonics at the output of GCIs. Therefore, it is not easy to satisfy the harmonic standards such as IEEE 519 and P1547 without the help of harmonic compensator. To meet the harmonic standards a certain kind of harmonic controller needs to be added to the current control loop to effectively mitigate the low order harmonics. In this paper, the harmonic compensation is performed using a novel robust harmonic compensation method based on Digital Lock-in Amplifier (DLA). In the proposed technique, DLAs are used to extract the amplitude and phase information of the harmonics from the output current and compensate it by using a simple PI controller in the feedforward manner. In order to show the superior performance of the proposed harmonic compensation technique, it is compared with those of conventional harmonic compensation methods in terms of the effectiveness of harmonic elimination, complexity, and implementation. The validity of the proposed harmonic compensation techniques for the single phase GCIs is verified through the experimental results with a 5kW single phase GCI.
