The microscopic relaxation parameters for the single crystal were measured by using thermally stimulated depolarization (TSD). Initial rise method, various heating rate method and total glow peak method were used for the determination of the activation energy and Debye relaxation time from TSD glow curves. Activation energy, pre-exponential factor and relaxation time for impurity-vacancy dipole reorientation were 0.55eV, 1.97$\times$10 super(-12) sec and 12.19sec in average, respectively. Dielectric dissipation factor for the crystal was calculated from the measured TSD glow curve, its value being about 3$\times$10 super(-2).

A new type bi-directional damper using a tuned liquid column damper(TLCD) and a tuned sloshing damper(TSD) is introduced in this study. Two dampers are usually needed to reduce wind-induced responses of tall buildings since they are along and across wind ones. The proposed damper has the advantage of controlling both responses with one damper. One of objectives of this study is to derive analytical dynamics to investigate coupled effects due to TLCD and TSD. Another objective is to address the effect of coupled control force due to TLCD and TSD on the dynamic characteristic of the damper based on analytical dynamics. Shaking table test is undertaken to experimentally grasp dynamic characteristics of the damper under white noise excitation. Its dynamic characteristic is expressed by the transfer function from the shaking table acceleration to the control force generated from the damper. Finally, its design parameters are identified based on the coupled dynamics, which include the mass ratio of horizontal liquid column to total liquid for a TLCD, the participation factor of the fundamental liquid sloshing for a TSD and damping ratio for both cases.

The aeroelastic analyses for several wing models were performed using the transonic small-disturbance (TSD) equation, which is very efficient, to consider the aerodynamic nonlinearities in the transonic region. For more accurate aerodynamic analysis of airfoil and wing models with shock waves, the viscous equations based on the Green's lag-entrainment equation of boundary-layer effects were coupled with the TSD equation in the transonic region. Finally the aeroelastic characteristics of wing models were investigated through comparisons of the aeroelastic analysis results for wing models considering the change of a thickness of the airfoil section. Moreover, the results of the aeroelastic analysis using the coupled TSD equation with the viscous equations were compared with those using the TSD equation for several wing models.
The optimum conditions for glucoamylase production, and ethanol productivity of the transformant TSD-14 were investigated as compared with the parental strains. The properties of TSD-14 were comparatively similar to the donor S. diastaticus IFO 1046 as regards the conditions of glucoamylase production and ethanol productivity. The soluble starch was the most effective carbon source for the glucoamylase production. While inorganic nitrogen sources did not prompt cell growth and enzyme production, the organic nitrogen sources generally enhanced both cell growth and glucoamylase production. The metal salts such as FeSO$_4$, MgSO$_4$, MnCl$_2$, and NiSO$_4$were favorable to the enzyme production. And the optium temperature and initial pH for glucoamylase production were 3$0^{\circ}C$ and 5. The transformant TSD-14 produced 8.3%(v/v) ethanol from 15% sucrose medium, 4.8%(v/v) ethanol from 15% soluble starch medium, and 7.5%(v/v) ethanol from 15% liquefied potato starch medium. The corresponding fermentation efficiency were 84% , 45% and 70%, respectively.

This study examined the effect of the scattering dose on the thyroid during a mammography examination. One hundred subjects for a mammography examination were enrolled in this study. The average glandular dose (AGD) and thyroid scattering dose (TSD) were measured. Statistical analysis was carried out using the percentage, t-test and co-variance. The mean radiation exposure to the breast and thyroid was $1.08{\pm}0.16$ and $0.14{\pm}0.04$ mGy, respectively. The percentage TSD to the AGD was 31.19%. There was no difference between the Rt. and Lt., and CC to MLO, and radiation dose to the TSD was 13.78% of the breast. Therefore, the volume of radiation exposure to the thyroid was 54.12% in a single routine mammography examination. These results suggest that the TSD was increased by increasing radiation dose to the breast. A thyroid protector is considered necessary to decrease the level of radiation exposure.

In this study, nonlinear static aeroelastic analysis system for a high-aspect-ratio wing are developed using the transonic small disturbance (TSD) and large deflection beam theory and validated. For the coupling between fluid and structure, the transformation of displacement from the structural mesh to aerodynamic one is performed by the shape function of the beam finite element and the inverse transformation of force by work equivalent load concept. Also, for the static aeroelastic analysis of the wing the use of TSD aerodynamics are justified. The validation of the system includes one of the efficient transformation methods of force and displacement.

Supplementary damping systems, such as tuned mass dampers (TMDs) and tuned sloshing dampers (TSDs) - also known as tuned liquid dampers (TLDs) - have been successfully employed to reduce building motion during wind events. A design of a damping system consisting of a TMD and two TSDs performing in unison has been developed for a tall building in Taiwan to reduce wind-induced motion. The architecturally exposed TMD will also be featured as a tourist attraction. The dual-purpose TSD tanks will perform as fire suppression water storage tanks. Linearized equivalent mechanical TSD and TMD models are coupled to the structure to simulate the multi-degree of freedom system response. Frequency response curves for the structure with and without the damping system are created to evaluate the performance of the damping system. The performance of the combined TMD-TSD system is evaluated against a conventional TMD system by computing the effective damping produced by each system. The proposed system is found to have superior performance in acceleration reduction. The combined TMD-TSD system is an effective and affordable means to reduce the wind-induced resonant response of tall buildings.
A Novel way to support typical Thermal Shut Down(TSD) circuit is proposed. In power ICs, on-time or on-duration is the key factor to anticipate an abrupt increase of internal temperature. Such an abrupt raise of the temperature can cause TSD circuit cannot protect on proper time due to the temperature detection delay come from the physical distance or the imperfect coupling between heat sources and detector. The proposed circuit checks the duty ratio touched their maximum or not in every cycle. Once duty ratio touches the maximum duty, new circuit generates the warning signal to the TSD circuit and lowers pre-determined temperature for shut down to compensate the detection delay. The novel circuit will be analyzed to the transistor level and checked the validity by simulation.

The changes in the mechanical properties according to the width of the tool shoulder, rotation speed and moving speed in friction stir welding (FSW) are evaluated using Al 6061-T6. The results indicated that the tensile strength value increases with increasing rotation speed. The higher the moving speed of the tool shoulder, the lower the tensile strength, regardless of the tool type. A higher tensile strength value was generally obtained with a tool shoulder diameter of 12mm (TSD12) than with 8mm. When the moving and rotation speeds exceed a limiting value, a stabilization stage is reached, in which (the tool shoulder diameter?) no longer affects the material properties. At a tool shoulder diameter of 8mm (TSD8), the material properties are decreased and the mixture of material in the welding area is incomplete in comparison with the tool type of TSD12. The tensile strength value is decreased at a rotation speed of 1500 rpm. As a result, a rotation speed higher than the threshold value is needed in order for and the transition temperature to be reached, which allows the complete mixing of the material in the welding area.
To enhance the capability of starch fermentation of the transformant TSD-14, the heat treated protoplasts of TSD-14 were fused with the protoplasts of C. tropicalis (lys$^-$) in the presence of 30% (w/ v) PEG and 20 mM CaC1$_2$. Fusants were selected by nutritional complementation on minium medium and the fusion frequency was 4.4$\times$10$^{-5}$. All fusants tested were possessed of complemented traits concerning carbon compound assimilation, and the cell volumes of the fusants were approximately 1.5 times larger than the parental strains. The fusants were genetically very stable, and were able to hydrolyze alpha 1,4-glucosidic linkage as well as alpha 1,6-linkage of starch contrary to one of parents TSD-14, The most promising fusant FSC-14-75 produced 8.7% (v/v) of ethanol from 15% liquefied potato starch medium, but the result was enhanced to 9.3% (v/v) by addition of 0.3% peptone. The corresponding fermentation efficiency was 86.0%.
