  • Technical efficiency of semiforcing watermelon growers is 0.8248 on average, and distributed between 0.6744 and 0.9268. The result showed that semiforcing watermelon growers had by 18% of technical inefficiency and could be assumed that increasing technical efficiency could induce watermelon production more increase. Consequently, if growers' technical efficiency were improved while other environments were constant, watermelon production could be increased. Following the results from the inefficiency effect model, all assumption coefficient such as growers age etc, are significant at 10% level. Estimate of dispersion parameter ${\gamma}$ is 0.89, which confirms those differences between practical output and frontier output were derived from the technical efficiencies among growers. Differences of production system between high and low level growers in production efficiency were showed at side altitude, ventilation and heat-retaining in section of facilities and automation, soil test and calcium application in section of environment management, transplant preparation and duration of pollination in section of crop management and shipment place, sorting degree and management record analysis in section of business management respectively. As a result of analyzing consulting data by using standard diagnosis table of watermelon cultivation under structure which cultivated on semi-forced watermelon growers, gap between high and low level growers was 7.0 points in facility automation section, 7.1 points in environment section, 8.8 points in crop management section and 13.6 points in business management section, respectively, which were the biggest one among them. In case of excluding information-related items from the evaluation index of business management section, changes of business achievement are to occur. Therefore, it is recommended for us to review the standard diagnostic table of watermelon cultivation under structure by dividing evaluation index of management section into management and information.

  • Design of web site must include community considerations alongside technical design aspects. The main purposes of this study are to identify the community criteria for evaluating web site and to examine how business web sites include the community factors. To identify the evaluation criteria, the author reviewed recent literatures and made a table showing a summary result(see Table 1). appendix shows a sample form NASDAQ(n=82) and KOSDAQ(n=59) which were evaluated. Using the evaluation from with 189 items(Table 3), all sites were visited and review between August 28, 2000 and September 6, 2000. The auther’s evaluations were done from the perspective of community building in business sector. Table 4, summary data on the results of the study, shows that the level of application of the community concept is very low. Among the listed 18 items, only a few items are utilized at more than 50% level. Less than 10% items are Member Profile, Group Segmentation, Backstory, Forum, Chat, Fact-to-face Meeting, and Collaborative Design. the unbalanced utilization due to the lack of community concept in businesses are found. Korea firms are superior to NASDAQ firms in terms of Bulletin Board and FAQ; But Korean firms are inferior and remain at very low level in terms of Member Login, Education Materials, Backstory, Forum, and Integrating Off-line Activities which are core factors of community building.

  • This study analyzes the management performance of environmentally-friendly rice farms using GCM method based on the multifaceted approach. This approach compares the management performance of GCM farms before and after the introduction of GCM, as well as the performance of GCM farms with the performance of conventional farms. It also compares the technical and managerial competence level of surveyed GCM farms with that of conventional farms based on the standard diagnosis table developed by Rural Development Adminstration. Results showed that average income has increased after the introduction of the GCM method and the average income of GCM farms was higher than that of conventional farms, while the level of rice production in farms using GCM method was lower than that of conventional farms. In addition, the technical and managerial competence score of surveyed farms using GCM method was higher than that of conventional farms. These results implies that the higher management performance of GCM farms compared to the conventional farms is attributed to not only the GCM method but also the competence level of farms using GCM method.

  • This study aims to present nonlinear time history analysis results of double leaf cavity wall (DLCW) reinforced concrete structure exposed to shake table tests. Simulation of the model was done by a Finite Element (FE) program. Shake table experiment was performed at the National Civil Engineering Laboratory in Lisbon, Portugal. The results of the experiment were compared with numeric DLCW model and numeric model of reinforced concrete structure with unreinforced masonry wall (URM). Both DLCW and URM models have two bays and two stories. Dimensions of the tested structure and finite element models are 1:1.5 scaled according to Cauchy Froude similitude law. The URM model has no experimental results but the purpose is to compare their performance level with the DLCW model. Results of the analysis were compared with experimental response and were evaluated according to ASCE/SEI 41-06 code.

  • This paper presents finite element (FE) based pushover analysis of a reinforced concrete structure with a two-leaf cavity wall (TLCW) to estimate the performance level of this structure. In addition to this, an unreinforced masonry (URM) model was selected for comparison. Simulations and analyses of these structures were performed using the DIANA FE program. The mentioned structures were selected as two storeys and two bays. The dimensions of the structures were scaled 1:1.5 according to the Cauchy Froude similitude law. A shake table experiment was implemented on the reinforced concrete structure with the two-leaf cavity wall (TLCW) at the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC) in Lisbon, Portugal. The model that simulates URM was not experimentally studied. This structure was modelled in the same manner as the TLCW. The purpose of this virtual model is to compare the respective performances. Two nonlinear analyses were performed and compared with the experimental test results. These analyses were carried out in two phases. The research addresses first the analysis of a structure with only reinforced concrete elements, and secondly the analysis of the same structure with reinforced concrete elements and infill walls. Both researches consider static loading and pushover analysis. The experimental pushover curve was plotted by the envelope of the experimental curve obtained on the basis of the shake table records. Crack patterns, failure modes and performance curves were plotted for both models. Finally, results were evaluated on the basis of the current regulation ASCE/SEI 41-06.

  • While there exists a relatively large body of technical information for the engineered design of wood-frame buildings to resist seismic ground motions, the quantitative assessment of seismic resistance of conventional houses built by prescriptive requirements is less well understood. Forintek Canada Corp., in collaboration with other research and industry partners, has embarked on a research project to address this topic. This paper will report on the seismic shake table tests of a full-scale wood-frame building. The two-story specimen, $6m{\times}6m$ in plan, was built on the seismic shake table at Tongji University in Shanghai, China, according to Part 9 of the 1995 National Building Code of Canada and shaken uni-directionally in each of the two principal directions. Three different seismic table motions were applied at increasing peak ground motion amplitudes up to 0.40 and 0.50 g. The specimen was repaired after the above sets of seismic table motions, and successive runs were conducted for increased door openings. Measurements included specimen accelerations, displacements and anchorage forces. Static stiffness of the specimen was measured at low force levels, and natural frequencies were measured after each seismic loading stage by applying low-level random excitation. The results presented consist of the capacity spectra of the shake table tests, changes in specimen stiffness and natural frequencies with increasing seismic loading. These results and those from other recent shake table tests elsewhere will be compared with simplified engineering calculations based on codified values of strength, and on that basis preliminary conclusions will be drawn on the adequacy of the current code provisions and design guides in Canada and the USA for conventional wood-frame construction.

  • The study, utilizing a data envelopment analysis (DEA) which is one of the nonparametric estimation methods, aims to evaluate the management efficiency of chestnut tree cultivators in such provinces in Chungchungnam-do as Cheong-yang, Gong-ju, Bu-yeo and so on. The analysis data of this study is based on inputs and outputs of 20 forestry households surveyed in the 2012 survey titled 'A Study on Current Level and Condition of Chestnut Cultivation and Management', which was conducted from March 2012 to October 2012. The elements of inputs are composed of management cost, harvesting cost, material cost, non-operation expenses and cultivation area, while the element of output is a gross margin only. Then the study analyzes a technical efficiency, a puretechnical efficiency and a scale efficiency using CCR and BCC model among DEA methods. Based on that, it also provides improvement methods for forestry households that turned out to be inefficient. In order to verify the result of DEA analysis, the study additionally compares a result of this efficiency study with that of chestnuts management standard diagnostic table. According to the result, the average value of technical efficiency analyzed was 0.667, proving to be inefficient in general. Given that the average value of pure-technical efficiency was 0.944 and that of scale efficiency was 0.703, it can be inferred that inefficiency exists in the field of scale, not in the field of cultivation techniques. As for forestry households with the efficiency score of 1, it is shown that there were 6 households that recorded 1 in the technical efficiency field and 13 households that recorded 1 in the pure technical efficiency. Meanwhile, there were 6 households that recorded 1 in all of the three aspects. In the comparison with the scores from chestnuts management standard diagnostic table, there were 5 households made a high score of over 80, among which are 3 households with score 1 in the technical efficiency. Also, the results of this study and the chestnuts management standard diagnostic table are proved to have the same result, both of them showing the same households that recorded the highest score and the lowest score. This means the management efficiency evaluation using DEA can be applied to the fieldwork along with the chestnuts management standard diagnostic table.

  • Drainage phenomena on the conventional fourdrinier table can be divided into two distinct zones based on the drainage mechanisms involved. In the forming zone, natural drainage is the principal water removal mechanism, while in the vacuum zone vacuum dewatering displaces water in the wet sheet with air. In this study to investigate the influence of polyelectrolyte addition on natural and vacuum dewatering a vacuum drainage tester was developed and used. Addition of PAM decreased the dryness of the wet sheet after vacuum dewatering since substantial reduction in vacuum level occurred due to flocculation of fibers. Addition of PAM, however, increased the wet web dryness when the fines content of the stock is greater than 35% indicating the presence of fines reduced the air permeability of the wet web to increase its response to vacuum dewatering. On the other hand, PEI, which flocculates the fibers and fines via patch formation, showed little impact on the drainage characteristics of the stocks.

  • The utilization dietary protein in young rainbow trout was investigated when feeded with the diets of controlled levels of casein and lipids for 12 days. The composition of the diet is shown in Table 1. Body weight gain was in proportion to the protein content in diet up to $40\%$, ana the maximum was obtained with $40.4\%$ of crude protein (Fig. 1, Table 2). On the other hand, the accumulated protein in body also showed almost maximum value around 40n of protein level in the diet and: the change of accumulated protein showed a little with more-protein level(Fig. 3, Table 9). The protein accumulation rate (protein accumulated/protein consumed) showed its highest value at about $40\%$ of protein level, while the protein utilization value (protein accumulation rate x protein content of diet) attained its highest value at $54.8\%$ of protein level (Table 3). With the above results it is observed that the requirement of dietary protein for young rainbow trout is about $40\%$ of protein in the diet when casein is used as the sole protein source. In protein efficiency ratio (PER) the lower protein level in the diet, the higher PER yields and the more the quantity of protein increases, the more PER decreases and its relation could be figured out as an equation of y=4.91-0.034x (Fig.4), Nose measured PER utilizing the diet which result of this, it is reported that PER rate of casein dropped within the extent of $25\%$ protein in diet. The reason why such a different PER rate appeared at the low protein level is revealed as the carbohydrate is low but the lipid high in capacity of utililzing nutrients for rainbow trout. The relation between the protein content of diet and the conversion factor, feed efficiency were determined and the results are shown in Fig. 2.

  • In a previous study, technology protection levels were set on a qualitative basis. That study lacked quantitative standards, so here, we conduct a study to complement the previous study and to present an objective standard. This paper provides a method of setting a technical protection level that applies statistical analysis. To set the technology protection level, statistical analysis of six technical survey items is performed first. Second, the technical survey items are analyzed by AHP to quantify the opinions of experts in order to derive weights for each technical survey item. Finally, by using the normal distribution scatter map and median calculation method, the technology protection level is selected in three stages using the final detailed factor technology score reflecting the weight. The technology protection level methodology developed through this study is the first methodology with objectivity that can evaluate defense technology by level. If this methodology is applied in practice, it is believed that it will provide a scientific and quantitative technology value judgment criterion when setting the technology protection level in the future.
