  • A calculation method was presented to calculate the deflection of GFRP-concrete-steel beams with full or partial shear connections. First, the sectional analysis method was improved by considering concrete nonlinearity and shear connection stiffness variation along the beam direction. Then the equivalent slip strain was used to take into consideration of variable cross-sections. Experiments and nonlinear finite element analysis were performed to validate the calculation method. The experimental results showed the deflection of composite beams could be accurately predicted by using the theoretical model or the finite element simulation. Furthermore, more finite element models were established to verify the accuracy of the theoretical model, which included different GFRP plates and different numbers of shear connectors. The theoretical results agreed well with the numerical results. In addition, parametric studies using theoretical method were also performed to find out the effect of parameters on the deflection. Based on the parametric studies, a simplified calculation formula of GFRP-concrete-steel composite beam was exhibited. In general, the calculation method could provide a more accurate theoretical result without complex finite element simulation, and serve for the further study of continuous GFRP-concrete-steel composite beams.

  • The voltage and current of fluoescent lamp has been successfully calculated in the case of frequency variation. Energy states of mercury atom in the discharge process are regarded as six levels. These calculations have been accurately solved by numerically employing mixed the FDM and the 2nd Runge-Kutta method. The theoretical calculation results and experimental results were presented to verify the feasibility of the modeling. Calculation and experimental results were presented to verify the feasibility of the calculation.

  • This study describes a practical method for the measurement of sustained stress in concrete structures. In most cases, the sustained stress was determined by various theoretical calculation. However, the theoretical calculation can not always provide a sufficient information on the current stress state due to lots of uncertainty. Therefore, the present study proposes a practical in situ measuring method, Partial Sectioning Method

  • The finite element method combined with the sensitivity method is adopted for 2-dimensionl Fourier transform inversion. To improve the efficiency of inversion calculation, multi-resolution wavelet method is proposed., Theoretical data which is obtained from above method is shown to examine the proposed method. Theoretical model assumes that underground cavity is located in limestone area. In theoretical model, 16 current and potential electrodes are located to get theoretical data. It is shown that the about inversion method is very exact and useful calculation method, in case the larger model is very small such as under ground cavity.

  • Spring constants (displacement per unit applied load) of MEMS socket pins of given structures were computed by theoretical analysis and confirmed by the finite element method (FEM). In the theoretical analysis, the displacement of pins was calculated based on the 2-dimensional bending theory of the curved beam. For the 3-dimensional modeling, CATIA was used. After modeling, the raw data were transferred to ANSYS, which was employed in the 3-dimensional analysis for the calculation of the stress and strain and loaddisplacement The theoretical analysis and the FEM results were found to agree, with each showing the spring constants as 63.4 N/m within a reasonable load range. These results show that spring constants can be easily obtained through theoretical calculation without resorting to experiments and FEM analysis for simple and symmetric structures. For the some change of shape and structural stiffness, this theoretical analysis can be applied to MEMS socket pins.

  • Generally, the system of calculation for the multi-path ultrasonic flow meters can be divided into two methods by how to get the mean velocity, namely, weighting and direct method. Weighting-method derive the mean velocity through modeling in theoretical velocity profile. Direct-method derive the mean velocity though actual flow distribution. The system of calculation varies with maker's transducer configuration and integration method. Each system has merits and demerits. This paper describes the system of integration that calculates line velocity over cross-section of the circular pipe. Flow rate mr discussed in this paper is a difference between theoretical flow rate and integrated flow rate according to values of Reynolds number in symmetric flow field or theoretical flow rate and integrated flow rate according to rotated model in asymmetric flow field.

  • This paper presents a theoretical calculation and measurements for the RCS(Radar Cross Scetion) value of a moving complex target, a small metal aircraft. The front view of aircraft on the drawing is divided in to several simple models to calculate its RCS value by the relative phase nlethod and the random phase method at the given frequency. The aircraft, cessna 305, inbounded from 170$^{\circ}$ to X international airport, is searched by radar with the wave length of 11cm to measure its miximum range which is necessary to determine the RCS value. The measured data are found to be similar to the theoretical values.

  • This study is carried out the theoretical studies on wave transmission and motions in waves of twin hull type floating breakwaters with the vertical and horizontal plate. The method of calculation is based on the three dimensional singularity distribution method. The results show that wave transmission is affected by heave motion. Twin hull type is designed by the use of the theoretical method and good performance of the developed floating breakwater is confirmed for longer wave period.

  • It needed the calculation of the required tugboat's power to move the damaged vessel to the safe area for reducing the additional damages. In this paper, it was verified the theoretical calculation method on the required power of tugboat through the 93m real ship tests. From the experiments, it was considered that the theoretical calculation method was sufficient to estimate the required power of tugboat. The resistance of the locked propeller was relatively big portions compared with other static resistances such as air resistance, frictional resistance and residual resistance. And dynamic resistance induced by swing movement and yawing was continuously occurred and it also was great effects on the total resistance. In the future, the safety factor will be considered and the exact prediction of ship's resistance will enhance the efficiency of tugboat because of the minimization of safety factor.

  • When a ship is travelling in following seas, the encounter frequency is reduced to be very low. n that case surf-riding, broaching-to and capsizing phenomena are most likely to occur. In the present paper, the emphasis is laid upon the transverse stability of ships in following seas, which is related to capsizing phenomenon. The authors intend to clarify the mechanism of the stability variation in following seas. In order to predict that variation, the theoretical calculation method and computer programming are developed. The theoretical calculation is based on Froude-Krylov Hypothesis and static equilibrium condition in waves. Through the application of present calculation method to cargo vessel and fishing boat, it is verified that the transverse stability in following seas with crest amidships can be reduced to a half extent in comparison with calm water stability. On the other hand, the present calculation results are compared with existing experimental data.
