  • In this paper, we analyze a time-based update method in location management and calculate the optimal time-interval. The probability that an MT is j rings away from the center cell is obtained by computer programming. And using these values, an exact analysis is made for the time-based location management cost. From the result, when the time-based method is applied to location update, we can get the optimal time-interval which minimizes the location management cost.

  • Time predictability is crucial in hard real-time and safety-critical systems. Cache memories, while useful for improving the average-case memory performance, are not time predictable, especially when they are shared in multicore processors. To achieve time predictability while minimizing the impact on performance, this paper explores several time-predictable scratch-pad memory (SPM) based architectures for multicore processors. To support these architectures, we propose the dynamic memory objects allocation based partition, the static allocation based partition, and the static allocation based priority L2 SPM strategy to retain the characteristic of time predictability while attempting to maximize the performance and energy efficiency. The SPM based multicore architectural design and the related allocation methods thus form a comprehensive solution to hard real-time multicore based computing. Our experimental results indicate the strengths and weaknesses of each proposed architecture and the allocation method, which offers interesting on-chip memory design options to enable multicore platforms for hard real-time systems.

  • Spatial detection system such as AVI, GPS, and Beacon etc. can provide spatial travel time only after a vehicle Passes through a road section. In this context, majority of the existing studies on the link travel time estimation area has focused on the arrival time-based link travel time estimation. rather than departure time-based link travel time estimation. Even if some of the researches on this area have developed departure time-based link travel time estimation algorithms, they are limited in that they are not applicable in a real-time mode. The objective of this study is to develop an departure time-based link travel time estimation algorithm which is applicable in a real-tine mode. Firstly, this study discussed the tradeoff between accuracy and timeliness of the departure time-based on-line link travel time estimates. Secondly, this study developed an departure time-based on-line link travel time estimation algorithm which utilizes the Baysian inference logic. It was found that the proposed approach could estimate departure time-based link travel times in a real-time context with an acceptable accuracy and timeliness.

  • This dissertation is assumed to continuously occur adjustment cost on present investment. So, I derived from time-nonseparable production-based CAPM and tested the performance of model through data. I also compared time-nonseparable production-based CAPM with time-separable production-based CAPM and CCAPM, CAPM through testifying the performance of model. At the part of applied application, I estimated time-nonseparable PCAPM-betas. The data of Korea consists of 320 listed companies on Korea Stock Exchange (KOSPI) from first quarter 1987 to first quarter 2002. This data also is categorized by scale and industries. Additionally, I estimated time-nonseparable PCAPM-betas through 500 listed companies of New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) from first quarter 1973 to first quarter 2002. I observed the statistical significance of 230 firms by 320 companies in Korea. After that, I compared time-nonseparable PCAPM-betas by firms with time-separable production-based CAPM-betas and CCAPM-betas, CAPM-betas through individual firms. At empirical test, I found that estimated parameter of adjustment cost on time-nonseparable production-based CAPM by scale and industries in Korea had positive value and statistical significance, Moreover, this approach proved to resolve the underestimation of adjustment cost on time-separable production-based CAPM by scale and industries. I also found that the time-nonseparable PCAPM performed better than time-separable production-based CAPM and CCAPM, CAPM. The result from U.S data proved to have similarity to that of Korea. Specifically, I found that time-nonseparable PCAPM-betas by firms performed better than CAPM-betas on individual firms in Korea.

  • This study examined the time use of married female home-based workers in comparison with married female on-site workers. The data were collected from 165 home-based workers and 292 on-site workers in Busan and Kyungnam province, by a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency distributions, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regression analyses were conducted by SPSS/PC/sup +/. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) both groups spent more time in physiological activities, household work, and leisure on weekends than on weekdays, while they spent more time in work on weekdays than on weekends; and (2) generally, the age of the youngest child and the home presence of an aged or handicapped relative had effects on the time use of home-based workers. These results imply that home-based workers need to develop some strategies for time management to harmonize their home-based work with household work.

  • Nowadays, most of the major manufacturing companies prepare their manufacturing schedule using package based solutions. Even though the accuracy of the detail scheduling result is high at implementation, however, it is low during maintenance period. The main cause of low accuracy during maintenance period is due to difficulties in maintaining the accurate level of master data. In this paper, we propose to easily maintain setup time, which is one of the most important factors required in master data to achieve good scheduling result, after changing job. This paper is mainly focused on how to deduce the factors that influence the setup time in a roll-based manufacturing field with print operations. For this purpose, we employed rule based algorithm and applied for deciding setup time for the existing product items. Likewise, it can be applied to new items without any complex setup procedures, and, finally, it displays the result of the real setup-time and calculated setup-time.

  • In this paper, we focus on a question. Which is better between time-based location update method and movement-based location update method? Or, does any other method combining the two methods show better performance? For the question, we propose a hybrid location update scheme, which integrates the time-based and the movement-based methods. In the proposed scheme, a mobile terminal updates its location after n cell boundary crossing and a time interval of T, or the inverse. We derive an analytical solution for the performance of the hybrid scheme with exponential cell resident time. From the numerical analysis, we conclude that the movement-based method seems to have better performance than the time-based and hybrid methods, that is the optimal costs occur at T=0.

  • In this paper, an enhanced time-based registration method is proposed. The method reduces the registration cost when a mobile terminal stays in a cell for a long time. We also analyze the performance of the proposed method numerically. In the analysis, we assume Poisson call arrival distribution and exponential cell resident time. From the analysis we calculate the optimal time-interval. Additionally, limit cost analysis is made to investigate the behaviors in the limit conditions. To compare the performance of the proposed method with the original time-based registration method, we analyze the performance of the original time-based registration method. In the comparisons, we see that the proposed enhanced time-based registration method has better performance and is applicable to the PCS systems.

  • This paper defines the reliable based route choice Principle and formulates the reliability based equilibrium traffic assignment using the Principle. The reliability is defined as the difference of travel demand and capacity using the interference theory of the system engineering. An efficient solution a1gorithm based on Frank-Wo1fe algolithm is Presented to calculate and compare the reliability based traffic assignment with conventional travel time based assignment using small and large scaled road networks. The results show that reliability based traffic assignment converges to equilibrium solution in a reasonable computing time. The equilibrium link flows between reliability and travel time based traffic assignment differ each other in the sense that reliability based assignment is assigned based on the maximum difference of travel demand and link capacity whilst travel time based is assigned on the shortest travel time.
