멀티미디어 Ad hoc 네트워크에서 전달지연-전력인지 라우팅 프로토콜 (Delay-Power Aware Routing Protocol for Multimedia Ad hoc Networks)

  • 이동 ad hoc 네트워크 (MANET)에서의 전력인지 라우팅 프로토콜은 각 노드의 전력소비를 최소화 하여 네트워크의 수명을 연장할 수 있도록 하였다. 하지만 프로토콜의 특성상 전송지연을 증가시키는 경향이 있어 전송지연이 중요한 멀티미디어 전송에는 적용하기 어려웠다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 ad hoc 네트워크에 적용할 수 있는 전송지연-전력인지 라우팅 프로토콜을 제안하였다. 제안된 프로토콜은 전송지연과 전력소비 두 가지의 상충된 지표를 동시에 고려하는데 전송지연을 일정한 수준으로 유지하면서 소비전력을 최소화 하는 방식을 사용한다. 시뮬레이션 결과 기존의 전송지연을 고려하지 않은 방식에 비하여 전송지연은 30% 정도로 크게 감소한 반면 전력소비는 10% 미만의 증가에 그쳤다.

  • Satellite communication is getting more important in the coming 21st century because of its wide areas sevice capability, ease of access, and fast channel establishment. As such, satellite communication networks will be the basis of the global communication system in cooperation with the ground ATM networks. In this paper, we consider an efficient transmission methodology of ATM cells over the satellite communication channel. We first analyze possible bottlenecks and performance deterioration factors in the case, and then propose an enhanced cell trasmission mechanism. In order to use satellite channel for ATM cell transmission, the application of complicated channel coding is inevitable. However, the forwared error control such as convolutional encoding brings forth burst errors, which calls for the application of some kind of interleaving mechanism to randomize the burst errors at the receiver. Another aspect which should b econsidered in satellite communication system is the inherent transmission delay, which can be very considered in satellite communication system is te inherent transmission delay, which can be very critical to the delay-sensitive ATM traffic. Therefore, we propose that the processing delay at the block interleaving stage should be controlled propose a variable-size block interleaving mechanism which utilizes the predicted transmission delay for each traffic in the queues of the transmitter. According to the computer simulation, the proposed mechanism could improve the overall performance by drastically reducing the ATM cell drop rate owing to the excessive transmission delay.

  • 마크-젠더 변조기와 광 간섭계를 이용한 10Gb/s 광 듀오바이너리 송신기의 전송 성능을 고찰하였다. 전송 거리를 증가시키기 위해서 전송 시스템이 받는 영향을 변조기의 구동 전압비와 광 간섭계의 시간 지연 관점에서 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 이론적 분석을 하였다. 구동 전압비를 줄이고 부분 비트 시간 지연을 최적화하여 보다 향상된 전송 성능을 확인하였다.

  • 실시간 비디오 스트리밍은 컨텐츠 전달 및 원격회의 등에 사용되는 기술로, 전송지연에 민감한 기술 중 하나이다. 최근 코로나바이러스 감염증(COVID-19)으로 인해 개인방송/원격회의와 같은 개인이 제작 및 이용하는 컨텐츠들이 증가하면서, 실시간 비디오 스트리밍 시 전송지연 저감과 더불어 스트리밍 되는 컨텐츠에 대한 보호의 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 실시간 비디오 스트리밍에 선별적 비디오 암호화 방법을 적용할 경우 발생하는 전송지연을 저감하기 위한 패킷 응집 관련 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안 방법은 선별적 비디오 암호화 프레임워크에서 패킷 단위로 재배치된 비디오 데이터 전송 시 한 번에 전송되는 크기의 조절이 가능하도록 개선하였으며, 실제 테스트베드를 통한 실험결과는 제안 방법 적용 시 기존대비 전송지연을 약 11% 저감할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

Optimum Uplink Power/Rate Control for Minimum Delay in CDMA Networks

  • We derive a new joint power and rate control rule with which we can minimize the mean transmission delay in CDMA networks for a given mean transmission power. We show that it is optimal to respectively control the power inverse-linearly and the rate linearly to the square root of channel gain while maintaining the signal-to-interference ratio at a constant. We also show that the proposed joint power/rate control rule achieves excellent performance results in terms of the probability of the instantaneous delay being within a target delay against one-dimensional control schemes.

  • Time delay control(TDC) law has been recently suggested as an effective control technique for nonlinear time-varying systems with uncertain dynamics and/or unpredictable disturbances. This paper focuses on the applications of the TDC algorithm to torque control of an engine system and speed control of an engine/automatic transmission system. Through the stability analysis of the engien system based on TDC, determination of the appropriate time delay and control factor is investigated. It was revealed that the size of time delay of the TDC law should be greater than that of transport delay of the system for both stability and better control performance. Simulation and experimental results for the engine torque control and engine/automatic transmission speed control systems show both relatively good command following and disturbance rejection properties. However, TDC controller shows rather slow responses when applied to the system with large transport delay.

Energy-Efficient Scheduling with Delay Constraints in Time-Varying Uplink Channels

  • In this paper, we investigate the problem of minimizing the average transmission power of users while guaranteeing the average delay constraints in time-varying uplink channels. We design a scheduler that selects a user for transmission and determines the transmission rate of the selected user based on the channel and backlog information of users. Since it requires prohibitively high computation complexity to determine an optimal scheduler for multi-user systems, we propose a low-complexity scheduling scheme that can achieve near-optimal performance. In this scheme, we reduce the complexity by decomposing the multiuser problem into multiple individual user problems. We arrange the probability of selecting each user such that it can be determined only by the information of the corresponding user and then optimize the transmission rate of each user independently. We solve the user problem by using a dynamic programming approach and analyze the upper and lower bounds of average transmission power and average delay, respectively. In addition, we investigate the effects of the user selection algorithm on the performance for different channel models. We show that a channel-adaptive user selection algorithm can improve the energy efficiency under uncorrelated channels but the gain is obtainable only for loose delay requirements in the case of correlated channels. Based on this, we propose a user selection algorithm that adapts itself to both the channel condition and the backlog level, which turns out to be energy-efficient over wide range of delay requirement regardless of the channel model.

무선 ATM 망에서 Time Sensitive Service에 적합한 Handoff 방법에 관한 연구 (A Suitable Handoff Scheme for Time Sensitive Service in a W-ATM Network)

  • In general, cell transmission delay is more sensitive for real time video service rather than cell losses in a wireless ATM network. Existing handoff schemes, which are emphasizing the prevention of cell losses, have limitations in cell transmission delay to satisfy QoS. In this paper, we propose a scheme to minimize transmission delay generated during the handoff and to maintain the sequence of cells. Transmission delay can be reduced by transmitting ATM cells with low CLP(i.e., CLP=0) prior to others and by discarding cells with high CLP(i.e., CLP= 1). The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is suitable for delay sensitive real time VBR service as well as fast handoff by giving high CLP to less meaningful MPEG frames.

  • In data transmission at the digital satellite broadcasting systems, the delay and spread are caused whit receiving original signals from the transmitter in the receiver. So, there are some problems in data fast transmission. Also, transmitted signals ate received in stale of the combination of transmission delay and noise of channel. The affect of channel noise is reduced when increasing transmission power, but as signal interference due to the transmission delay and spread of channel increase in proportion to the transmission power, there is a problem in spite of increasing the transmission power. And there is the problem to add ISI(inter symbol interference) because the property of the channel is limo-varying due to relative moving in the transceiver Therefore, in this paper, a pulse shaping filter for the high-speed service in digital satellite broadcasting systems was designed and reduced the ISI.

오류 정정 부호를 사용하는 범용 무선 통신 칩으로 구현된 스마트 미터링 무선 네트워크 시스템 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Wireless Communication Networks for Smart Metering Implemented with Channel Coding Adopted Multi-Purpose Wireless Communication Chip)

  • Smart metering is one of the most implementable internet-of-thing service. In order to implement the smart metering, a wireless communication network should be newly designed and evaluated so as to satisfy quality-of-service of smart metering. In this paper, we consider a wireless network for the smart metering implemented with multi-purpose wireless chips and channel coding-functioned micro controllers. Especially, channel coding is newly adopted to improve successful frame transmission probability. Based on the successful frame transmission probability, average transmission delay and delay violation probability are analyzed. Using the analytical results, service coverage expansion is evaluated. Through the delay analysis, service feasibility can be verified. According to our results, channel coding needs not to be utilized to improve the delay performance if the smart metering service coverage is several tens of meters. However, if more coverage is required, chanel coding adoption definitely reduces the delay time and improve the service feasibility.
