Fuel Flow Control of Turbojet Engine Using the Fuzzy PI+D Controller (퍼지 PI+D 제어기를 이용한 터보제트 엔진의 연료유량 제어)

  • In this paper, Proposed controller prevent compressor surge and reduce the acceleration time of the fuel flow control system for turbo-jet engine. Turbo-jet engine controller is designed by applying fuzzy PI+D control algorithm and make an inference by applying Mamdani's inference method and the defuzzification using the center of gravity method. Fuzzy inference results are used as the fuel flow control inputs to prevent compressor surge and flame-out for turbo-jet engine and the controller is designed to converge to the desired speed quickly and safely. Using MATLAB to perform computer simulations verified the performance of the proposed controller.

A Study on layered Space Time Trellis codes for MIMO system based on Iterative Decoding Algorithm (MIMO 시스템에서 반복 복호 알고리즘 기반의 계층적 시공간 부호화 방식 연구)

  • The next-generation wireless communication requires fast transmission speeds with various services and high reliability. In order to satisfy these needs we study MIMO system used layered space time coded system (LST) combining space time trellis codes (STTC) with turbo codes. In LST, two codes that are inner and outer codes are concatenated in the serial fashion. The inner codes are turbo Pi codes suggested in DVB-RCS NG system, and outer codes are STTC codes proposed by Blum. The interleaver technique is used to efficiently combine two codes. And we proposed and simulated that a full iteration method between turbo decoder and BCJR decoder to improve the performance instead of only processing inner-iteration turbo decoder. The simulation results of proposed effective layered method show improving BER performance about 1.3~1.5dB than conventional one.

  • The multiband communication technique is effective in terms of performance and throughput efficiency because it can overcome selective frequency fading by allocating the same data to different frequency bands in the environment of rapidly changing channel transfer characteristic. In addition, the transmission distance can be further extended while overcoming various underwater channel environments. In this paper, we analyzed the performance of multiband transmission technique in underwater communication by increasing number of band using Turbo pi code with a coding rate of 1/3. Simulation results shows that the performance is improved when the number of bands is increased based on the received SNR.

  • Covertness and performance are very important design goals in the underwater communications. To satisfy both of them, we proposed efficient underwater communication model which combined multiband and direct sequence spread spectrum method in order to improve performance and covertness simultaneously. Turbo coding method with 1/3 coding rates is used for channel coding algorithm, and turbo equalization method which iterately exchange probabilistic information between equalizer and decoder is used for receiver side. After optimal threshold value was set in Rake processing, this paper analyzed the performance by varying the number of chips were 8, 16, 32 and the number of bands were from 1 to 4. Through the simulation results, we confirmed that the performance improvement was obtained by increasing the number of bands and chips. 2~3 dB of performance gain was obtained when the number of chips were increased in same number of bands.

  • This paper include the investigation of finding the system characteristics of facility by simulating open-type turbo-pump fed system, which has commercial control valves, using AMESIM (Advanced Modeling Environment Simulation) commercial software. After developing a flight-type control valve on the basis of the results, the system characteristics of facility for control and valve tests is estimated. Especially, one of purposes of this paper is to find PID value of each commercial control valve in the facility for system test. To find suitable control logic, PI and PID modes are also compared. This paper also introduces design parameters of valve and equipment for thrust control and TDS simulation, which are using control valves.

  • In the underwater communication, the performance of system is reduced because of the inter-symbol interference occur by the multi-path. In the recent years, to deal with poor channel environment and improve the throughput, the efficient concatenated structure of equalization, channel codes and Space Time Codes has been studied as MIMO system in the underwater communication. Space Time Codes include Space Time Block Codes and Space Time Trellis Codes in underwater communication. Space Time Trellis Codes are optimum for equalization and channel codes among the Space Time Codes to apply in the MIMO environment. Therefore, in this paper, turbo pi codes are used for the outer code to efficiently transmit in the multi-path channel environment. The inner codes consist of Space Time Trellis Codes with transmission diversity and coding gain in the MIMO system. And Zero Forcing method is used to remove inter-symbol interference. Finally, the performance of this model is simulated in the underwater channel.

  • This paper describes the implementation of the vector control schemes for a variable-speed 131kW PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) in super-high speed application. The vector control with synchronous reference frame current regulator has been implemented with the challenging requirements such as the extremely low stator inductance$(28^{\mu}H)$, the high dc link voltage(600V) and the high excitation frequency(1.2kHz). Because the conventional position sensor is not reliable in super-high speed, a vector control scheme without any position sensor has been proposed. The proposed sensorless algorithm is implemented by processing the output voltage of the PI current regulator, and hence the structure is simple and the estimated speed is robust to the measurement noise. The experimental system has been built and the proposed control has been implemented and evaluated. The test result, up to the speed of 60,000 r/min, shows the validity of the proposed control.

Performance Analysis of an Inert Gas Generator for Fire Extinguishing

  • Present study deals with performance analysis of an inert gas generator (IGG) which is to be used as an effective mean to suppress the fire. The IGG uses a turbo jet cycle gas turbine engine to generate inert gas for fire extinguishing. It is generally known that a lesser degree of oxygen content in the product of combustion will increase the effectiveness of fire suppressing. An inert gas generator system with water injection will bring advantages of suffocating and cooling effects which are considered as vital factors for fire extinguishing. As the inert gas is injected to the burning site, it lowers the oxygen content of the air surrounding the flame as well as reduces the temperature around the fire as the vapour in the inert gas evaporates during the time of spreading. Some important aspects of influencing parameters, such as, air excess coefficient. $\alpha$, compressor pressure ratio, $ pi_c$, air temperature before combustion chamber, $T_2$, gas temperature after combustion chamber, $T_3$, mass flow rate of water injection, $M_w$, etc., on the performance of IGG system are investigated. Calculations of total amount of water needed to reduce the turbine exit temperature to pre-set nozzle exit temperature employing a heat exchanger were made to compare the economics of the system. A heat exchanger with two step cooling by water and steam is considered to be better than water cooling only. Computer programs were developed to perform the cycle analysis of the IGG system and heat exchanger considered in the present study.
