The Wind Load Evaluation on Building Considering Vertical Profile of Fluctuating Wind Force (변동풍력의 연직분포를 고려한 건축물의 풍하중 평가)

  • The wind tunnel test makes it possible to predict the wind loads for the wind resistant design. There are many methods to evaluate wind loads from data obtained from the wind tunnel test and these methods have advantages and disadvantages. In this study, two of these methods were analyzed and compared. One is the wind load evaluation method by fluctuating displacement and the other is the wind load evaluation method considering vertical profile of fluctuating wind force. The former method is evaluated as the sum of the mean wind load of the average wind force and the maximum value of the fluctuating wind load. The latter method is evaluated as the sum of the mean wind load and maximum value of the background wind load, and the maximum value of the resonant wind load. Two methods were applied to the wind tunnel test to compare the evaluated wind loads according to the two methods, with a maximum difference of about 1.2 times. The wind load evaluated by the method considering vertical profile of the fluctuating wind force (VPFWF) was larger than the wind load evaluated by the method by fluctuating displacement (FD). Especially, the difference of the wind load according to the two methods is large in the lower part of the building and the wind load is reversed at a specific height of the building. VPFWF of evaluating resonant wind loads and background wind loads separately is more reasonable.

  • We discussed load CUlTent sharing for Master/Slave convertedMSC) type two DC-DC Converters parallel operation using a single current sensor method. In the conventional method, two CTs have been used to share t the load CUlTent equally with two coηverters‘ This paper presents a novel load CUlTent distribution method u using a single CUlTent sensor that can share load CUlTent effectively with only one CT in the Master-Slave C conveη:ers(MSCs) type. To confirm parallel operational performance of proposed DC-DC converters parallel operation, two experimental prototype converters were designed, implemented and experimented under three a arbitrary conditions. A load cur‘rent shahring perforrnance of the proposed method was compared with that of a c conventional peak CUt${\gamma}$ent method requmng two CTs. Those experimental results show that load cUlTent s sharing performance of paralleled two converters using a single CUlTent sensor was good and operated as well a as conventional method (ex, Pe밟 CUlTent Method)

  • Conventional short-term load forecasting techniques have limitation in their use on holidays due to dissimilar load behaviors of holidays and insufficiency of pattern data. Thus, a new short-term load forecasting method for special days in anomalous load conditions is proposed in this paper. The proposed method uses two Artificial Neural Networks(ANN); one is for the estimation of load curve, and the other is for the estimation of minimum and maximum value of load. The forecasting procedure is as follows. First, the normalized load curve is estimated by ANN. At next step, minimum and maximum values of load in a special day are estimated by another ANN. Finally, the estimate of load in a whole special day is obtained by combining these two outputs of ANNs. The proposed method shows a good performance, and it may be effectively applied to the practical situations.

  • In the conventional method, two CTs have been used to share the load current equally with two converters. A new simle method to find out the current difference between two converters using only one CT as a ZCT is suggested. Two experimental prototype converters were designed and implemented for the evaluation of the load current sharing. The results of experiment show that the newly proposed ZCT method using only one CT could make a good load current sharing than the conventional method required two CT when operating two converters in parallel.

  • In this paper, Parallel operation of two DC-DC converters which we have ever done before need two CTs to do load current sharing. However, we have proposed a new method called ZCT method that can share load current with only a CT as doing parallel operation two converters with same converter capacity. To confirm parallel performance by a proposed DC-DC converter parallel operation method, we have done computer simulation and experiment. It is certain that we have showed to achieve two converters current sharing performance efficiently through simulation and experiment at result.

  • A method is proposed to evaluate the elastic-plastic fracture resistance curve only with load displacement records without the crack length measurement in CT specimen. This method is based on the idea that the effect of plastic deformation and the crack growth can be measured only by using a load-displacement record. If we know the reference-load curve representing the hardening of specimen, then the crack extension can be calculated by the elastic compliance determined from the load ratio. The results of this proposed method were compared to those of the elastic-plastic fracture resistance curve for the ASTM standard unloading compliance method. The experimental results for two kinds of ductile materials showed that the proposed method well simulates the material J-R curves. This method is currently applied for CT specimens. but it can be extended to the other specimen geometries.

  • A component based method out of load modeling is to aggregate component load model according to the composition rate of each component load at load bus based on the circuit theory. But the most of component loads respond complex nonlinear characteristics respect to voltage and frequency variation due to the control techniques and semiconductor elements applied to component load. It needs to verify this approach through actual experiment of the aggregation of component load even if it can be down. To identify this aggregation method well known, this paper is proposed the classifying method of component load characteristics for component loads to group by quantitative analysis. The component load characteristics were divided into several types by KSOM (kohonen self organizing map), which can classify multi-dimension vector, component load pattern, into two-dimension vector. Some ambiguous cases happened from KSOM were classified by the proposed closing degree.

  • This paper presents two flexible alternatives to the decoupled load flow(DCL) method. The proposed load flow methods can improve the convergence profiles of the DCL by reflecting in part the effects of the off-diagonal terms in the Jacobian at minimal costs. They can improve the convergence characteristics especially when the power system operating states deviate from the conditions required for stable convergence of the DCL and the P-Q coupling becomes significant. Two algorithms are obtained from the expression of the full Newton-Raphson load flow (NRL) method by successively diminishing the effects of the off-diagonal submatrices in the Jacobian. In the process of simplification, the Neuman series expansion is utilized. Test results show promising performances of the proposed algorithms in their convergence characteristics both in number of iterations and overall convergence speeds. Proposed algorithms are expected to provide flexible alternatives to the NRL when the DCL experiences convergence problems.

Load-slip curves of shear connection in composite structures: prediction based on ANNs

  • The load-slip relationship of the shear connection is an important parameter in design and analysis of composite structures. In this paper, a load-slip curve prediction method of the shear connection based on the artificial neural networks (ANNs) is proposed. The factors which are significantly related to the structural and deformation performance of the connection are selected, and the shear stiffness of shear connections and the transverse coordinate slip value of the load-slip curve are taken as the input parameters of the network. Load values corresponding to the slip values are used as the output parameter. A twolayer hidden layer network with 15 nodes and 10 nodes is designed. The test data of two different forms of shear connections, the stud shear connection and the perforated shear connection with flange heads, are collected from the previous literatures, and the data of six specimens are selected as the two prediction data sets, while the data of other specimens are used to train the neural networks. Two trained networks are used to predict the load-slip curves of their corresponding prediction data sets, and the ratio method is used to study the proximity between the prediction loads and the test loads. Results show that the load-slip curves predicted by the networks agree well with the test curves.

Reasonable Load Characteristic Experiment for Component Load Modeling (개별 부하모델링을 위한 부하의 합리적인 특성실험)

  • Load modeling is classified into two methods according to approaching method, so called the measurement and component-based method. The measurement method is to model the load characteristics measured directly at substations and feeders. But it is difficult to measure continuously load characteristics from naturally occurring. system variation. The component-based method consists of the fellowing process; component load modeling, composition rate estimation and aggregation of component loads, etc. In this paper, the characteristic experiment of component loads was performed to obtain data for the component load modeling as the component-based method. At first, representative component loads were selected by the proposed method considering the accuracy of load modeling and the performance possibility of component load experiment in the laboratory. Also an algorithm was Proposed to identify the reliability of data obtained from the component load characteristic experiments. In addition, the results were presented as the case studies.
