  • This paper is concerned with the simulation-based process design method involved non-steady state problem of tension levelling considering the elasto-plastic hardening behavior of a metallic strip by a commercial code ABAQUS/Standard. The tension levelling process is peformed to elongate the strip plastically in combination of tensile and bending strain by a controlled manner so that all longitudinal fibers in the strip have an approximately equal amount of length and undesirable strip shapes are corrected to the flat share. Objectives of this paper are the development of a general method for the design of a tension leveller by a finite element method and parameter studies for the deisgn variables such as the applied tension, the roll intermash includes the determination of the steady state using the simple unit of the tension levelling line and the effect of the finite element mesh size on the amount and distribution of the strain calculated. The analysis provides the information about the intermesh effect on the amount and final shapes of the strip and distribution of the strain in order to determine the amount elongation for correction of the irregular share.

  • This unit - structure of truss stabilized by cable tension is composed of four truss member adding to a central post and eight cables, and is connected by hinge joints and is stabilized by cable tension. As this unit - structures itself is a statically closed and stabilize system individually, it can be employed to assemble a structure with a variety of configuration. In this paper, for determination the shape of the unit - structure of truss stabilized by the cable, characteristics such as the stabilized range of the various geometrical parameter about unit system and the relation of the best governing paramter is demonstrated, and the relation of the results is compared in the range for the stabilization of unit-structure.

  • Built-in Eccentric Bearing-Torsional Spring (BEBTS) type Automatic Belt Tension Unit (ABTU) is one of typical belt tension units. The BEBTS type ABTU system frequently experiences torsional vibration about its pivot due to the variation of belt tension. However, it is very difficult to analyze the rotational (or torsional) vibration of the ABTU because the exciting moment varies according to the change of belt tension. To get over this difficulty, in this paper. the ABTU was simplified as 1-DOF translational motion model in the tangential direction. Its equation of motion was derived and solved. The time history and frequency responses were computed and examined for three of BEBTS type ABTUs which are made by different manufacturers but the tame kind.

  • In this paper, three kinds of the existing idealized structural units, namely the idealized beam-column units the idealized unstiffened plate unit and the idealized stiffened plate unit are expanded to deal with the excessive tension-deformation effects. A simplified mechanical model far the stress-strain relationship of steel members under tensile load is suggested. The 1/3-scale hull model for a leander class frigate under sagging moment tested by Dow is analyzed, and it is shown that the excessive tension-deformation is a significant factor affecting the progressive collapse behavior, particularly in the post-collapse range.

  • The 200mesh screen was tensioned and fixed on a frame. When applied tension to 5N and 10N per unit area, a side length of opening of the screen was 163.223${\mu}m$ and 168.224${\mu}m$, respective. But side length not tensioned was 158.879${\mu}m$. We knew that a side length of opening of the screen rarely changes with tension applied to the screen. The appearances that a side length of opening of the screen expand little are due to a decreasing diameter of thread by means of tension. In a thickness measurement of screen, While the high density mesh screen that had a lot of knots that crossed a line of latitude and longitude per unit area appeared a higher numerical value, the low density mesh screen that had a few knots appeared a low numerical value.

  • Pre-foaming, one of the manufacturing way of foamed concrete, is influenced by foaming agent. When the foaming agent diluted with water, surface tension and viscosity are varied. Therefore, this study is reviewing the surface tension, viscosity and unit weight of foam by experimental factor such as foaming agent types(AES, AOS, VS FP) and foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%) and temperature of materials (5, 10, 20℃). As an expeimental result, the surface tension and viscosity slightly increased with increasing concentrations. Meanwhile, when increasing temperature, the viscosity has decreased. FP produce relatively stable foams only in case 3% or more, which produce unstable foams containing large amount of water content by decreasing only insignificant surface tension when diluted at concentration of 1%.

  • The charateristics of stabilization for stabilized truss unit-structures with cable and truss are investigated in this paper. This unit system is composed of a central post and eight cables, and is connected by hinge joints, and stabilized by self-equilibrated stress field. As this unit structure itself is a statically closed and stabilized system individually, it can be employed to assemble structures with various configurations. In this study, for stabilization of truss structures stabilized by cable tension, the structural concept of unit structures, the range of various geometrical parameters and the relationship of governing parameters about unit systems are explained.

  • To secure the stability of geotechnical infrastructures and minimize failures during the construction process, a number of support systems have been introduced in the last several decades. In particular, stabilization methods using steel bars have been widely used in the field of geotechnical engineering. Rock bolt system is representative support system using steel bars. Pre-stressing has been applied to enhance reinforcement performance but can be released because of the failure of head or anchor sections. To overcome this deficiency, this paper proposes an innovative support system that can actively reinforce the weak ground along the whole structural element by introducing an active tension bolt containing a spring unit to the middle of the steel bar to increase its reinforcement capacity. In addition, the paper presents the support mechanism of the active tension bolt based on a theoretical study and employs an experimental study to validate the performance of the proposed active tension bolt based on a down-scaled model. To examine the feasibility of the active tension unit in a pillar, the paper considers a pullout test and a small-scale experimental model. The experimental results suggest the active tension bolt to be an effective support system for pillar reinforcement.
