  • This paper proposes a class of distributions which is useful in making inferences about the sum of values from a normal and a doubly truncated normal distribution. It is seen that the class is associated with the conditional distributions of truncated bivariate normal. The salient features of the class are mathematical tractability and strict inclusion of the normal and the skew-normal laws. Further it includes a shape parameter, to some extent, controls the index of skewness so that the class of distributions will prove useful in other contexts. Necessary theories involved in deriving the class of distributions are provided and some properties of the class are also studied.

  • This paper aims to introduce some useful multimedia freewares, and also support Chinese instructor with discussing how to operate them for instructional design of multimedia language learning class. For this aims, this paper consists of three parts: First, instructional design. This part is focused to what kind of instructional model to be based on, for example, Dick & Carey model, ADDIE model, ASSURE model etc. This part introduces these models, and modifies ADDIE and ASSURE model to D.D.A.I.E.S and S.S.A.U.R.E.S as 'A(nalysis)' in these model may apply to the next 'D(evelopment)' on ADDIE, 'S(elect Methods, Media and Materials)' on ASSURE in the practical Chinese class. Second, Programme: What to use. This part is focused to what kind of free software we can use. In the web site online, there are huge free softwares so we usually hesitate to select and also don't know how to operate even though selected one of them. This part, accordingly, introduces ten of useful freewares and compares each other in terms of usefulness for Chinese instructors. Third, Programme: How to use. It is of no use just to know what to use but not to know how to operate, so this part describes how to use freewares like a kind of manual in detail as far as possible. In conclusion, we hope more Chinese instructors to learn and use more useful freewares for designing the better multimedia Chinese class by this paper.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics and patterns of 'better class' by using the longitudinal text mining big data analysis technique from subjective lecture evaluation comments. First, this study classified upper 30% classes to deduce certain characteristics and patterns from every five-year subjective text data for 10 years. A total of 47,177courses (100%) from spring semester 2005 to fall semester 2014 were analyzed from a university at a metropolitan city in the mid area of South Korea. This study extracted meaningful words such as good, course, professor, appreciation, lecture, interesting, useful, know, easy, improvement, progress, teaching material, passion, and concern from the order of frequency 2005-2009. The other set of words were class, appreciation, professor, good, course, interesting, understanding, useful, help, student, effort, thinking, not difficult, explanation, lecture, hard, pleasant, easy, study, examination, like, various, fun, and knowledge 2010-2014. This study suggests that the characteristics and patterns of 'better class' at college, should be analyzed according to different academic code such as liberal arts, fine arts, social science, engineering, math and science, and etc.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the analysis of level of importance and satisfaction in recognitions of elementary school students on useful classes among school sport clubs using Importance-Performance analysis. In order to achieve this objective, samples were taken by using convenience sampling method among non-probability sampling methods, and 384 data were used as the final valid samples for this study except 16 data with missing items or insincere responses. The results of frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, independent samples t-test, IPA analysis by using SPSS 20.0 were as follows. First, Iquadrant included education contents of enhance ability to ingenuity, teaching method of provides option, teaching method of encourage participation activity, education contents of the aspect of fun, evaluation of motor function and emotion, education contents of explains key contents easily, and education contents of understanding overall context. II quadrant included education environment of good sport facility, class environment of fair opportunity for activity, class atmosphere of arouses interest, and class atmosphere of autonomous and voluntary. III quadrant included diverse teaching method and instructor's demonstration, class atmosphere of systematic learning, evaluation of fairness, objectivity, and credibility, and an atmosphere that can exercise. IV quadrant included education contents of enable acquisition of knowledge and degree of improvement into consideration, and class atmosphere of trust and respect between instructor and student.

  • Background: When we make treatment plan of class III malocclusion children, it is difficult to determine whether we treat it with orthognathic surgery or without orthognathic surgery. To determine that, we must consider many factors, such as cephalometric analysis, growth pattern, family history, and skeletal age. A Harvold cephalometric analysis is useful in determining the amount of discrepancy by comparing the maxillary unit length with mandibular, unit length. We tried this study to help the decision of treatment planning in class ill malocclusion children by comparison in class III malocclusion and normal occlusion children using a Harvold analysis. Materials and Methods: The materials for this study consisted of 20 class III malocclusion children. Cephalometric tracing and measurements were performed by one investigator. The control group consisted of 18 normal occlusion children and lateral cephalograms were obtained from 8.5 to 14.5 years old children biannually. The relationships between class III malocclusion group and normal occlusion group were evaluated statistically. Results: The lower anterior facial heights between two groups were not significantly different, although the lower anterior facial heights of class III malocclusion group was higher than those of normal occlusion group in all age groups. The Maxillary-mandibular unit length differences of class III malocclusion group were significantly higher than those of normal occlusion group(p<0.05). Conclusion: A Harvold analysis was useful to make treatment planning for class III malocclusion children.

  • A useful method of proving the finite decidability of an equationally definable class V of algebras (i.e., variety) is to prove the decidability of the class of finite directly indecomposable members of V. The validity of this method relies on the well-known result of Feferman-Vaught: if a class K of first-order structures is decidable, then so is the class {$\prod$$_{i}$<n/ $A_{i}$$A_{i}$ $\in$ X (i < n), n $\in$ $\omega$}. In this paper we show that the converse of this does not necessarily hold.d.d.

  • Capstone design is a very important college course that enhances students' creativity and skills. However, in most universities, the operation of capstone design is operated by the experience and intuition of the advisor, and it is somewhat lacking in the generation of useful results such as patent rights and technology start-up from the capstone design result. In this study, we proposed a performance - based capstone design operation model through patent linkage so that the capstone design class can create creative and useful results. The proposed operating model includes support for research on prior art of patent information utilization, patent right of idea, and technology commercialization. The proposed operating model was directly applied to the capstone design class in the university, and it was confirmed that useful results such as expansion of the scope of the research achievement and technology start - up were created compared to the existing operation model.

  • As the safety fields are expanding to a variety of industrial fields, safety technology has been developed by convergence between industrial safety fields such as mechanics, ergonomics, electronics, chemistry, construction, and information science. As the technology convergence is facilitating recently advanced safety technology, it is important to explore the trends of safety technology for understanding which industrial technologies have been integrated thus far. For studying the trends of technology, the patent is considered one of the useful sources that has provided the ample information of new technology. The patent has been also used to identify the patterns of technology convergence through various quantitative methods. In this respect, this study aims to identify the convergence patterns and fields of safety technology using association rule mining(ARM)-based patent co-classification(co-class) analysis. The patent co-class data is especially useful for constructing convergence network between technological fields. Through linkages between technological fields, the core and hub classes of convergence network are explored to provide insight into the fields of safety technology. As the representative method for analyzing patent co-class network, the ARM is used to find the likelihood of co-occurrence of patent classes and the ARM network is presented to visualize the convergence network of safety technology. As a result, we find three major convergence fields of safety technology: working safety, medical safety, and vehicle safety.

  • Making use of a certain operator of fractional derivative, a new subclass $L_p({\alpha},{\beta},{\gamma},{\lambda})$) of analytic and p-valent functions is introduced in the present paper. Apart from various coefficient bounds, many interesting and useful properties of this class of functions are given, some of these properties involve, for example, linear combinations and modified Hadamard product of several functions belonging to the class introduced here.
