  • The structural integrity of APR1400 reactor vessel internals has been being assessed referring the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guide 1.20, comprehensive vibration assessment program. The program is composed of a vibration and stress analysis, a vibration and stress measurement, and an inspection. This paper covers the vibration and stress analysis on the reactor vessel internals by the pulsation of reactor coolant pump. 3-dimensional models to calculate the hydraulic loads and structural responses were built and the pressure distributions and the structural responses were predicted using ANSYS. This paper presents that APR1400 reactor vessel internals have enough structural integrity against the pulsation of reactor coolant pump as the peak stress of the reactor vessel internals is much lower than the acceptance limit.

  • The vibration modes of resilient mounting system and foundation structure which support diesel engine/generator set and acoustic enclosure walls play an important role in the vibration transmission process. So, it is necessary to perform vibration mode analysis of resilient mounting system and foundation structure. For some reasons, if the vibration modal analysis of resilient mounting system and foundation structure of acoustic enclosure could be simultaneously done by finite element method, it would be very efficient approach. In this paper, vibration modal analysis method using finite element method for multi stage mounting system having n d.o.f model was proposed. Vibration analysis of single and double stage resilient mounting system was performed to verify the validity of the proposed method. Also frequency response results were compared in case of rigid foundation model and finite element foundation model which was compared with experimental modal analysis results.

  • This paper contains various vibration analysis of multi-stage shaft shape such as the bending, torsional and axial vibration. The shaft system is modeled as Timoshenko beam with the transverse shear and rotary inertia effect and the equation of motion is derived by Hamilton's principle with considering clamped-free boundary condition. Then, eigenvalue problem of discrete equation of motion for multi-stage shaft model is solved and got results of the natural frequency through the numerical analysis. Obtained numerical analysis results through Matlab program were compared with those of FEM analysis to verify the results. This study suggests that design of shaft system be consider torsional and axial vibration as well as bending vibration.

  • A numerical analysis algorithm for thermally loaded structures has been proposed and compared with the general free vibration approach to determine the characteristics of thermal load effects in vibration structures. The field of numerical inspection includes free vibration analysis, transient heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis. The key point of the analysis of thermally loaded structure is the method of parallel time integration between transient heat transfer and free vibration simultaneously. The results of the study demonstrate the computation of the specific total external force vector and stiffness matrix. The proposed analysis method can be applied to both heated and cooled structure vibration analysis.

  • The majority of the causes for the failures of power transformers in operation are mechanical defects due to vibration. The vibration phenomenon was measured from the power transformers in operation in the substations. The vibration measurement was performed in a $6{\times}4$ structure on one side of each transformer. The vibrations of the measured points were presented in two and three dimensions and analyzed. The results, according to the elapsed year of the transformer and the load capacity to the transformer, were analyzed. These results could be used as basic data with which to establish vibration standards for power transformers. In addition, the load capacity-vibration phenomenon correlation was examined and regression analysis was performed to derive the estimation function. The vibration phenomenon according to the elapsed yeah was also estimated to derive the function. Then the analysis of the power transformers was used to set vibration standards for them based on the vibration data.

  • Noise and vibration induced by subway operation are one of the major factor that annoy residents living near the subway tracks. In general, lateral vibration is the major concern when we are considering vibration of a building. However, the vertical vibration is the major concern in considering the vibration induced by the subway operation. Analysis model for the vertical vibration of the structure should consider the effect of beam vibration. Thus, the same model used for the lateral vibration analysis can not be used for an analysis of vertical vibration of the structure. Appropriate analysis model which can consider the inertia force of the beam is necessary when analyzing a structure for the vertical vibration. Modeling technique for the vertical vibration analysis of structures has been studied on this paper. It is recommended to use one or more elements for columns and to use two or more elements for beams when analyzing structures for vertical vibration induced by subway operation.

  • The noise and vibration of rolling piston-type compressors used in the most of the airconditional system is a serious and important problem occurred during turning on and off as well as during operating. To analyze the vibration occurred during turning on and oft, the vibration analysis of motor-compressor coupling is required. In this paper, through modeling of the motor, solving the force from the equations of motion of the moving parts and considering the stiffness of the rubber mounts, the analysis of vibration was performed.

  • This paper presents vibration analysis of maskless exposure module in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing system. In order to complete exposure process in PCB, masking type module has been widely used in electronics industries. However, masking process confronts some limitations of application due to higher production cost for masking as well as lower printing resolution. Therefore, maskless exposure module is started to be in the spotlight for flexible production system to meet the needs of fabrication in variable patterns at low cost. Since maskless exposure process adopts direct patterning to PCB, vibration problems become more critical compared to conventional masking type process. Moreover, movements of exposure engine as well as stage generate vibration sources in the system. Thus, it is imperative to analyze the vibration characteristics for the maskless exposure module to improve the quality and accuracy of PCB. In this study, vibration analysis using the Finite Element Analysis is conducted to identify the critical structural parts deteriorating vibration performance. Also, Experimental investigations are conducted by single/dual encoder measurement process under the operating module speed. Measurement points of vibration are selected by three places, which are base of stage, exposure engine and top of stage, to check the effect of vibration from the exposure engine. Comparisons between analysis results and experimental measurement are conducted to confirm the accuracy of analysis results including the developed FE model. Finally, this studies show feasibility of optimal design using the developed FE analysis model.
