The structural health of a pipeline is usually assessed by visual inspection. In addition to the fact that this method is expensive and time consuming, inspection of the whole structure is not possible due to limited access to some points. Therefore, adopting a damage detection method without the mentioned limitations is important in order to increase the safety of the structure. In recent years, vibration-based methods have been used to detect damage. These methods detect structural defects based on the fact that the dynamic responses of the structure will change due to damage existence. Therefore, the location and extent of damage, before and after the damage, are determined. In this study, fuzzy genetic algorithm has been used to monitor the structural health of the pipeline to create a fuzzy automated system and all kinds of possible failure scenarios that can occur for the structure. For this purpose, the results of an experimental model have been used. Its numerical model is generated in ABAQUS software and the results of the analysis are used in the fuzzy genetic algorithm. Results show that the system is more accurate in detecting high-intensity damages, and the use of higher frequency modes helps to increase accuracy. Moreover, the system considers the damage in symmetric regions with the same degree of membership. To deal with the uncertainties, some error values are added, which are observed to be negligible up to 10% of the error.
Recently, promising structural technologies like multi-function, ultra-load bearing capacity and tailored structures have been put up for discussions. Finite Element (FE) modelling is probably the best-known option capable of treating these superior properties and multi-domain behavior structures. However, advanced materials such as Functionally Graded Material (FGM) and nanocomposites suffer from problems resulting from variable material properties, reinforcement aggregation and mesh generation. Motivated by these factors, this research proposes a unified shape function for FGM, nanocomposites, graded nanocomposites, in addition to traditional isotropic and orthotropic structural materials. It depends not only on element length but also on the beam's material properties and geometric characteristics. The systematic mathematical theory and FE formulations are based on the Timoshenko beam theory for beam structure. Furthermore, the introduced element achieves C1 degree of continuity. The model is proved to be convergent and free-off shear locking. Moreover, numerical results for static and free vibration analysis support the model accuracy and capabilities by validation with different references. The proposed technique overcomes the issue of continuous properties modelling of these promising materials without discarding older ones. Therefore, introduced benchmark improvements on the FE old concept could be extended to help the development of new software features to confront the rapid progress of structural materials.

Improving the mechanical properties of concrete in the construction industry in order to increase resistance to dynamic and static loads is one of the essential topics for researchers. In this work, vibration analysis of elastic nanocomposite beams reinforced by nanoparticles based on mathematical model is presented. For modelling of the strucuture, sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory (SSDBT) is utilized. Mori-anak model model is utilized for obtaining the effective properties of the strucuture including agglomeration influences. Utilizing the energy method and Hamilton's principal, the motion equations are calculated. The frequency of the elastic nanocomposite beam is obtanied by analytical method. The aim of this work is investigating the effects of nanoparticles volume percent and agglomeration, length and thickness of the beam on the frequency of the structure. The results show that the with enhancing the nanoparticles volume percent, the frequency is increased. In addition, the water absorption of the concrete is presented in this article.

The present paper examines the natural frequency responses of the bi-directional (nx-ny, ny-nz and nz-nx) and multidirectional (nx-ny-nz) functionally graded (FG) plate and curved structures with and without porosity. The even and uneven kind of porosity pattern are considered to observe the influence of porosity type and porosity index. The numerical findings have been obtained using a higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) based isometric finite element (FE) approach generated in a MATLAB platform. According to the convergence and validation investigation, the proposed HSDT based FE model is adequate to predict free vibrational responses of multidirectional porous FG plates and curved structures. Further a parametric analysis is carried out by taking various design parameters into account. The free vibrational behavior of bidirectional (2D) and multidirectional (3D) perfect-imperfect FGM structure is examined against various power law index, support conditions, aspect, and thickness ratio, and for the curvature of curved structures. The results indicate that the maximum non-dimensional fundamental frequency (NFF) value is observed in perfect FGM plates and curved structures compared to porous FGM plates and curved structures and it is maximum for FGM plates and curved structures with uneven kind of porosity than even porosity.
After a disaster like the catastrophic earthquake, the government have to use rapid assessment of the condition (or damage) of bridges, buildings and other infrastructures is mandatory for rapid feedbacks, rescue and post-event management. Many domain schemes based on the measured vibration computations, including least squares estimation and neural fuzzy logic control, have been studied and found to be effective for online/offline monitoring of structural damage. Traditional strategies require all external stimulus data (input data) which have been measured available, but this may not be the generalized for all structures. In this article, a new method with unknown inputs (excitations) is provided to identify structural matrix such as stiffness, mass, damping and other nonlinear parts, unknown disturbances for example. An analytical solution is thus constructed and presented because the solution in the existing literature has not been available. The goals of this paper are towards access to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services, promotion of inclusive and sustainable urbanization and participation, implementation of sustainable and disaster-resilient buildings, sustainable human settlement planning and manage. Simulation results of linear and nonlinear structures show that the proposed method is able to identify structural parameters and their changes due to damage and unknown excitations. Therefore, the goal is believed to achieved in the near future by the ongoing development of AI and control theory.

In the context of finite element method, a computational simulation is presented to study and analyze the dynamic behavior of regularly perforated functionally graded rotating beam for the first time. To investigate the effect of perforation configurations, both regular circular and squared perforation patterns are studied. To explore impacts of graded material distributions, both axial and transverse gradation profiles are considered. The material characteristics of graded materials are assumed to be smoothly and continuously varied through the axial or the thickness direction according the nonlinear power gradation law. A computational finite elements procedure is presented. The accuracy of the numerical procedure is verified and compared. Resonant frequencies, axial displacements as well as internal stress distributions throughout the perforated graded rotating cantilever beam are studied. Effects of material distributions, perforation patterns, as well as the rotating beam speed are investigated. Obtained results proved that the graded material distribution has remarkable effects on the dynamic performance. Additionally, circular perforation pattern produces more softening effect compared with squared perforation configuration thus larger values of axial displacements and maximum principal stresses are detected. Moreover, squared perforation provides smaller values of nondimensional frequency parameters at most of vibration modes compared with circular pattern.

Metamictization and color change in zircons from Cambodia and Tanzania were investigated. Elements analysis to detect radioactivity of elements such as U and Th, and spectroscopic analysis using UV-VIS and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were performed. According to the UV-VIS spectroscopic analysis, it was perceived that many and high intense absorption peaks appeared in blue and colorless zircons, while less and low intense absorption peaks appeared in uranium contained green and yellow zircons. It was found that those stones have made progress to the metamictization. After heat treatment, we could detect opposite results. As the results of FTIR spectroscopy analysis, in the metamict green and yellow zircon, it is showed that 3-phonon combination mode bands of $[SiO_4]^{4-}$ internal vibration in the region of 3100~3400 $cm^{-1}$ are broad and some of them disappear. However, the disappeared bands are observed again due to restored crystal lattice by the heat treatment. Also, $U^{4+}$ peaks that can detect the uranium content in zircon appears at near 4800 $cm^{-1}$ in the green and yellow samples. From this investigation, we could observe the metamictization effect and color change in uranium-bearing zircon by heat treatment using spectroscopic analysis.

In recent years, time history analysis has been the method generally used for the seismic analysis of tall buildings with damping devices. When T is the natural period of the first vibration mode of the structure, the sum of the spectral acceleration of the earthquake ground motion is usually adjusted to that of the design response spectrum in the period ranging from 0.2T to 1.5T to meet the requirements of design code. However, when the ground motion is scaled according to the design code, the differences in the responses obtained by response spectrum analysis (RSA) and time history analysis (THA) of the structures increase as the natural period of the structure becomes longer. When time history analysis is performed by using ground accelerations that are scaled according to the design code, base shear is similar to that obtained from RSA, but other responses, such as displacements, drifts and member forces, are underestimated compared to RSA. If these results are adjusted by multiplying with the scale-up factor, the scaled responses become much smaller. Therefore, a scaling method of ground motions corresponding with the design code is proposed in this study, as a way of assisting structural engineers in generating artificial ground motions.
Launch vehicles are subject to airborne acoustic loads during atmospheric flight and these effects become pronounced especially in transonic region. As the vibration due to the acoustic loads can cause malfunction of payloads, it is essential to predict and reduce the acoustic loads. In this study, a complete process has been developed for predicting airborne vibro-acoustic environment inside the payload pairing and subsequent noise reduction procedure employing acoustic blankets and Helmholtz resonators. Acoustic loads were predicted by Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) analysis and a semi-empirical model for pressure fluctuation inside turbulent boundary layer. Coupled vibro-acoustic analysis was performed using VA One SEA's Finite Element Statistical Energy Analysis (FE-SEA) hybrid module and ANSYS APDL. The process has been applied to a hammerhead launch vehicle to evaluate the effect of acoustic load reduction and accordingly to verify the effectiveness of the process. The presently developed process enables to obtain quick analysis result with reasonable accuracy and thus is expected to be useful in the initial design phase of a launch vehicle.

The fundamental reason for gear noise is transmission error. Transmission error occurs because of STE (static transmission error) and DTE (dynamic transmission error), while a pair of gears is meshing. These errors are generated by the deflection of the teeth and the friction on the surface of the teeth. In addition, the vibration generated by transmission error leads to excited bearings. The bearings support the shafts, and the noise is radiated after exciting the gear casing. The analysis of the contact stress in helical gear tooth flanks indicates that it is due to impact loading, such as the sudden engagement and disengagement of a gear. Stress analysis is performed for different roll positions, in order to determine the most critical roll angle. Dynamic analysis is performed on this critical roll position, in order to evaluate variation in stresses and tooth contact force, with respect to time. In this study, transmission error analysis was implemented on a spur and helical gear with involute geometry and a modified geometry profile. In addition, in order to evaluate the intensity of impact due to sudden engagement and significant backlash, the impact factor was calculated using the finite element analysis results of static and dynamic maximum bending stresses.
