  • In this paper, we propose the measurement techniques of mixed waveform. Mixed waveform has phase-continuous periodic waveform with fixed frequency signal and Linear Frequency Modulation(LFM) signal. This waveform is generated from a compact radar transmitter with frequency synthesizer and high power amplifier. Frequency synthesizer generates various signal waveform with continuos phase and high power amplifier amplify transmitting signal. First, we describe a compact radar transmitter with the phase-continuos signal and then verify the distortion characteristic of pulse compression by the mismatch of LFM waveform. Second, we describe three kinds of measurement techniques for measuring LFM waveform. These techniques include methods using signal analyzer, signal source analyzer and new methods using RF mixer and phase shifter. Finally, we verify the accuracy of the measurement technique from the pulse compression result of receiving signal.

  • Waveform micropile is an advanced construction method that combined the concept of conventional micropile with jet grouting method. This new form of micropile was developed to improve frictional resistance, which consequently leads to achieving higher bearing capacity and cost efficiency. Two field tests were conducted to examine the field applicability as well as to verify the effects of bearing capacity enhancement. In particular, waveform micropile construction using jet grouting method was performed to evaluate the viability of waveform micropile installation. After testing, the surrounding ground was excavated to check the accomplishment on the shape of waveform micropile. The result showed that waveform micropile can be installed by adjusting the grouting time and pressure. In the loading tests, waveform micropile's bearing capacity increased by 1.4 to 2.3 times depending on their shapes when compared with conventional micropile. Overall results clearly demonstrated that waveform micropile is an enhanced construction method that can improve bearing capacity.

  • We proposed the new driving waveform which has changed the waveform of sustain division to improve luminous efficiency in plasma display panel. This sustain waveform is to add the ramp to the rectangular waveform, resulting in self-erasing discharge in the falling edge region. The proposed waveform has improved the luminous efficiency of 30% even in low driving frequency(25kHz), whereas the conventional driving waveform using the self-erasing discharge can improve the luminous efficiency only in high driving frequency( >150kHz). Front the results of this paper, we hope that the variety study on frequency and duty ratio, ramp waveform will increase the luminous efficiency.

  • Applicable range of Photoplethysmography (PPG) becomes wider as a non-invasive physiological measurement technique. However, PPG waveform is easy to be distorted by ambient light or vascular variation from temperature changes. Especially, irregular variation of PPG waveform caused by ambient temperature not only severely distorts the PPG, but also leads miss interpretation in clinical applications. Therefore, the investigation of between temperature and PPG waveform is quite important in using PPG. The purpose of this research is to quantify the PPG waveform characteristic and to investigate the waveform variation following the temperature change on measuring site. To quantify the fluctuation of PPG waveform, we use two techniques; detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and AC/DC analysis of PPG. We record PPG under temperature stress, which applied by medical use heat pack ($40^{\circ}C$) and ice pack ($0^{\circ}C$). Ten participants were applied to the experiment, and the result was evaluated to approve the temperature effect with statistical method, Wilcoxon signed rank test. The result shows that the AC component (p<0.05) and perfusion index DFS scale exponent (p<0.01) of PPG have the significance to temperature stress except for a DC component of PPG.

  • The periodicity of the physiological flow has been the major interest of analytic research in this field up to now Among the mechanical forces stimulating the biochemical reaction of endothelial cells on the wall, the wall shear stresses show the strongest effect to the biochemical product. The objective of present study is to find the effects of velocity waveform on the wall shear stresses and pressure distribution along the artery and to present some correlation of the velocity waveform with the clinical observations. In order to investigate the complex flow phenomena in the bifurcated tube, constitutive equations, which are suitable to describe the rheological properties of the non-Newtonian fluids, are determined, and pulsatile momemtum equations are solved by the finite volume prediction. The results show that pressure and wall shear stresses are related to the velocity waveform of the physiological flow and the blood viscosity. And the variational tendency of the wall shear stresses along the flow direction is very similar to the applied sinusoidal and physiological velocity waveforms, but the stress values are quite different depending on the local region. Under the sinusoidal velocity waveform, a Newtonian fluid and blood show big differences in velocity. pressure, and wall shear stress as a function of time, but the differences under the physiological velocity waveform are negligibly small.

  • The waveform data of the Airborne Bathymetric LiDAR (ABL; LiDAR: Light Detection And Ranging) system provides data with improved accuracy, resolution, and reliability compared to the discrete-return data, and increases the user's control over data processing. Furthermore, we are able to extract additional information about the return signal. Waveform decomposition is a technique that separates each echo from the received waveform with a mixture of water surface and seabed reflections, waterbody backscattering, and various noises. In this study, a new waveform decomposition technique based on a Gaussian model was developed to improve the point extraction performance from the ABL waveform data. In the existing waveform decomposition techniques, the number of decomposed echoes and decomposition performance depend on the peak detection results because they use waveform peaks as initial values. However, in the study, we improved the approximation accuracy of the decomposition model by adding the estimated potential peak candidates to the initial peaks. As a result of an experiment using waveform data obtained from the East Coast from the Seahawk system, the precision of the decomposition model was improved by about 37% based on evaluating RMSE compared to the Gaussian decomposition method.

  • The sub-salt imaging technique becomes more crucial to detect the hydro-carbonates in petroleum exploration as the target reservoirs get deeper. However, the weak reflections from the sub-salt structures prevent us from obtaining high fidelity sub-salt image. As an effort to overcome this difficulty, we applied the waveform inversion by implementing multi-grid technique to the sub-salt imaging. Through the comparison between the conventional waveform inversion using fixed grid and the multi-grid technique, we confirmed that the waveform inversion using multi-grid technique has advantages over the conventional fixed grid waveform inversion. We showed that the multi-grid technique can complement he velocity estimation result of the waveform inversion for imaging the sub-salt structures, of which velocity model cannot be obtained correctly by the conventional fixed grid waveform inversion.

  • In speech processing, the waveform codings are concerned with simply preserving the waveform of signal through a redundancy reduction process. In the case of speech synthesis, the waveform codings with high quality are mainly used to the synthesis by analysis. Because the parameters of this coding are not classified as both excitation and vocal tract, it is difficult to apply the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule. Thus, in order to apply the waveform coding to synthesis by rule, it is necessary to alter the pitches. In this paper, we proposed a new pitch alteration method that can change the pitch period in waveform coding by dividing the speech signals into the vocal tract and excitation parameters. This method is a time-frequency domain method preserving the phase component of the waveform in time domain and the magnitude component in frequency domain. Thus, it is possible that the waveform coding is carried out the synthesis by rule in speech processing. In case of using the algorithm, we can obtain spectrum distortion with $2.94\%$. That is, the spectrum distortion is decreased more $5.06\%$ than that of the pitch alteration method in time domain.

  • In modern electronic warfare, RADAR is under constant threat of ECM(Electronic Counter Measures) signals from nearby jammers. The conventional linear frequency modulated(Linear-FM) waveform is easy to be intercepted to estimate its signal parameters due to its periodical phase transition. Recently, APCN(Advanced Pulse Compression Noise) waveform using random amplitude and phase transition was proposed for LPI(Low probability of Intercept). But random phase code signals such as APCN waveform tend to be sensitive to Doppler frequency shift and result in performance degradation during moving target detection. In this paper, random phase and code rate transition based radar waveform(RPCR) is proposed for Doppler tolerance improvement. Time frequency analysis is carried out through ambiguity analysis to validate the improved Doppler tolerance of RPCR waveform. As a means to measure the vulnerability of the proposed RPCR waveform against LPI, WHT(Wigner-Hough Transform) is adopted to analyze and estimate signal parameters for ECCM(Electronic Counter Counter Measures) application.
