  • To make Web Services the real applications, the efficient mechanisms for Web Services discovery, Web Services composition and Web Services execution must be provided. Among these issues, especially, Web Services composition plays the key roles in Web Services applications that are loosely coupled and composed applications consisted of primitive Web Service components. In this paper we demonstrate a new Web Service composition approach using ontologies. We apply ontologies to describe Web Services information such as Web Services input/output parameters, pre conditions, post conditions and other necessary management information. In this paper, we also introduce Action ontology and Object ontology to describe the functional properties of Web Services These ontologies offer semantic description of Web Services functionalities beyond the limitation of the current WSDL. We can achieve semantic interoperabilities between heterogeneous Web Services in terms of conceptual processing and realize semantic services composition. We implement semantic Web Services composition system called Genie based on service description ontologies.

  • Web Services have been utilized in a wide variety of applications and have turned into a key technology in developing business operations on the Web. Originally, Web Services can be exploited in an isolated form, however when no single Web Service can satisfy the functionality required by a user, there should be a possibility to compose existing services together in order to fulfill the user requirement. However, since the same service may be offered by different providers with different non-functional Quality of Service (QoS), the task of service selection for Web Service composition is becoming complicated. Also, as Web Services are inherently unreliable, how to deliver reliable Web Services composition over unreliable Web Services should be considered while composing Web Services. In this paper, we propose an approach on a QoS-aware Web Service selection for reliable Web Service composition. In our approach, we select and classify Web Services using Decision Tree based on QoS attributes provided by the client. Service classifier will improve selection of relevant Web Services early in the composition process and also provide flexibility to replace a failed Web Services with a redundant alternative Web Services, resulting in high availability and reliability of Web Service composition. We will provide an implementation of our proposed approach along with efficiency measurements through performance evaluation.

  • Web Services composition has gained a considerable attention because of the widespread use of the Web Services and SOA. Recently, various researches on automatic Web Services composition are on going to realize more dynamic and intelligent SOA environments. However, there is no complete solution for automatic Web Services composition now and previous researches have several problems. Automatic composition based on syntactic information has low correctness through incorrect semantic linking. Moreover, many researches make an process as the result of composition which is hard for actual execution. In this paper, improved automatic Web Services composition based on Web Services choreography is proposed. In this system, the correctness is improved and the result of composition is more concrete process.

  • In recent years, the web services composition has received much attention. By web services composition, we mean providing a new service that does not exist on the repository. In this paper, we propose a new system called PSR for web services composition search using a relational database. We also propose algorithms for pre-computing web services composition using joins and indices. We store ontologies from web services in RDBMS, so that the PSR system returns web services composition in order of similarity with user query through the degree of the ontology matching. We demonstrated that our pre-computing web services composition approach in RDBMS yields lower execution time and good scalability when handling a large number of web services and user queries.

  • Recently, one of the most challenging problems is to compose web services dynamically, that is, on demand. A number of researchers have been considerably interested in the dynamic web services composition. However, while most of them focused on the semi-automatic web services composition with a human controller, very little attention was devoted to the full automation of this process. This paper primarily focuses on the automatic web services composition techniques. The main idea is to implement an automatic web services composition system using web ontologies to realize the semantic web and workflow technologies to play a major role in E-businesses. In this paper, we propose a matching algorithm for web service discovery and present an approach based on the use of ontologies to facilitate the interoperability of web services. Finally, we describe a workflow execution plan to support the automatic web services composition, and an experimental study that shows the high performance of our system.

  • Web services and their composition (web processes) are promising technologies to efficiently integrate disparate software components over various types of systems. As many web services are nowadays available on Internet, quality of services (QoS) and performance/cost become increasingly important to differentiating between similar service providers. In this work, we introduce sPAC (Web Services Performance Analysis Centre) and show how customers can benefit from sPAC to consider performance in composing and commercializing web services. sPAC 1) helps users to graphically describe the workflow of web services, 2) invokes web services to test out performance for light load conditions, 3) automatically converts the web services and the flow between them into a simulation model, 4) conducts extensive simulations for heavy load conditions and various usage patterns, and 5) reports analysis results and estimation data for the web services.

  • With the development of cloud computing, more and more Web services are deployed on geo-distributed datacenters and are offered to cloud users all over the world. Through service composition technologies, these independent fine-grain services can be integrated to value-added coarse-grain services. During the composition, a number of Web services may provide the same function but differ in performance. In addition, the distribution of cloud datacenters presents a geographically dispersive manner, which elevates the impact of the network on the QoS of composite services. So it is important to select an optimal composition path in terms of QoS when many functionally equivalent services are available. To achieve this objective, we first present a graph model that takes both QoS of Web services and QoS of network into consideration. Then, a novel approach aiming at selecting the optimal composition path that fulfills the user's end-to-end QoS requirements is provided. We evaluate our approach through simulation and compare our method with existing solutions. Results show that our approach significantly outperforms existing solutions in terms of optimality and scalability.

  • In recent years, the web services composition search has become an issue of great interest. The web services composition search is the process of integrating individual web services to yield desired behavior. Through the web services composition search, more sophisticated functionalities can be provided. Current solutions can be classified into three main classes: forward chaining approach, backward chaining approach and two-phase approach. However one-way chaining approaches, such as forward chaining approach and backward chaining approach have limitations of searching irrelevant web services. And two-phase approach has limitations of including redundant web services. In this paper, we propose an unredundant web services composition search based on the two-phase algorithm. The algorithm consists of a forward phase and a backward phase. In the forward phase, the candidate web services participating composition will be found efficiently by searching the Link Index. In the backward phase, unredundant web services compositions will be generated from candidate web services by using the Token Manager. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm is more efficient than one-way chaining approaches. The experimental results also show that our algorithm can provide more solutions than previous two-phase approach and is comparable to previous one in execution time.

  • Recent advances in medical science have made people live longer, which has affected many aspects of life, such as caregiver burden, increasing cost of healthcare, increasing number of disabled and depressive disorder persons, and so on. Researchers are now focused on elderly living assistance services in smart home environments. In recent years, assisted living technologies have rapidly grown due to a faster growing aging society. Many smart devices are now interconnected within the home network environment and such a home setup supports collaborations between those devices based on the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the major challenges in providing elderly living assistance services is to consider each individual's requirements of different needs. In order to solve this, the virtualization of physical things, as well as the collaboration and composition of services provided by these physical things should be considered. In order to meet these challenges, Web of Objects (WoO) focuses on the implementation aspects of IoT to bring the assorted real world objects with the web applications. We proposed a semantic modelling technique for manual and semi-automated service composition. The aim of this work is to propose a framework to enable RESTful web services composition using semantic ontology for elderly living assistance services creation in WoO based smart home environment.

  • Recently, one of the most challenging Problems is to compose web services dynamically, that is, on demand. In particular, when a functionality that cannot be directly realized by existing services is required, existing services may be combined together to fulfill the request. This paper is to implement the dynamic composition of web services using existing workflow technologies. Workflow systems play a major role in E-businesses. However, due to the composition of web services using workflows differs from the design of traditional workflow systems, two problems need to be solved. (1) how to efficiently discover web services and (2) how to facilitate the interoperability of heterogeneous web services. In this paper, we present a matching algorithm for web service discovery and propose an approach based on the use of ontologies to facilitate the integration of web services. Finally, we have built a prototype system to illustrate how to the dynamic composition of web services are achieved.
