WILCOXON SIGNED RANK TEST USING RANKED-SET SAMPLE

  • Ranked-set sampling is useful when measurements are destructive or costly to obtain but ranking of the observations is rel-atively easy. The Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic based on the ranked-set sample is considered. We compared the asymptotic relative efficiencies of the RSS Wilcoxon signed rank test statistics with respect to the SRS Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic and the RSS sign test statistic. Throughout the ARE's the proposed test statistic is superior to the SRS Wilcoxxon signed rank test statistic and the RSS sign test statistic.

  • A ranked set sample version of the sign test is proposed for testing hypotheses concerning the quantiles of a population characteristic by Kaur, et. al(2002). In this paper, we proposed the ranked set sample Wilcoxon signed rank test for quantiles under equal allocation. We obtain the asymptotic property and the asymptotic relative efficiencies of the proposed test statistic with respect to Wilcoxon signed rank test of simple random sample for quantiles under equal allocation. We calculate the ARE of test statistics, the proposed test statistic is more efficient than simple random sampling for all quantiles. The relative advantage of ranked set sampling is greatest at the median and tapers off in the tails.

  • We shall consider fuzzy hypotheses test for signed-rank Wilcoxon fuzzy test by fuzzy difference on rate of internal division. Fundamental to these discussion are fuzzy number data and Wilcoxon signed-rank fuzzy test of a fuzzy hypothesis $H_{f0}$ which is based upon a fuzzy statistics whose distribution does not depend upon the specified distribution or any parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose the two-sample test statistic using Wilcoxon signed rank test on ranked-set sampling(RSS) and obtain the asymptotic relative efficiencies(ARE) of the proposed test statistic with respect to Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon statistic on simple random sampling(SRS), the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon statistic on RSS, sign statistic on RSS and Wilcoxon signed rank test on SRS. From the simulation works, we compare the powers of the proposed test statistic, Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon statistic on RSS, the usual two-sample t statistic, sign statistic on RSS, where the underlying distributions are uniform, normal, double exponential, logistic and Cauchy distributions.

Investigation of Terminology Coverage in Radiology Reporting Templates and Free-text Reports

  • The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is improving reporting practices by developing an online library of clear and consistent report templates. To compare term occurrences in free-text radiology reports and RSNA reporting templates, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test method was applied to investigate how much of the content of conventional narrative reports is covered by the terms included in the RSNA reporting templates. The results show that the RSNA reporting templates cover most terms that appear in actual radiology reports. The Wilcoxon test may be helpful in evaluatingexisting templates and guiding the enhancement of reporting templates.

수질변화의 계량화를 위한 비모수적 통계 준거에 관한 연구 (A Study of Non-parametric Statistical Tests to Quantify the Change of Water Quality)

  • This study was carried out to suggest the best statistical test which may be used to quantify the change of water quality between two groups. Traditional t-test may not be used in cases where the normality of underlying population distribution is not assured. Three non-parametric tests which are based on the relative order of the measurements, were studied to find out the applicability in water quality data analysis. The sign test is based on the sign of the deviation of the measurement from the median value, and the binomial distribution table is used. The signed rank test utilizes not only the sign but also the magnitude of the deviation. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test which is basically same as Mann-Whitney test, tests the mean difference between two independent samples which may have missing data. Among the three non-parametric tests studied, the singed rank test was found out to be applicable in the quantification of the change of water quality between two samples.

기울기를 이용한 랜덤워크 윌콕슨 부호순위검정 (A Wilcoxon signed-rank test for random walk hypothesis based on slopes)

  • 랜덤워크는 다양한 분야에서 랜덤현상을 기술하는데 이용되고 있으나, 현재까지 개발된 랜덤워크 검정법에는 유의수준 왜곡과 낮은 검정력 등의 문제가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 문제점들을 개선하기 위해 Kim 등 (2014)은 부호검정에 기초한 랜덤워크 검정 (${\rho}=1$)방법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 보다 개선된 랜덤워크 검정법을 제안하고자 부호검정보다 검정력이 우수한 것으로 알려진 윌콕슨 부호순위검정을 이용한 랜덤워크 검정법을 제안하고, 모의실험을 통해 부호검정, 윌콕슨 부호순위검정, 확장 Dickey-Fuller 검정의 성능을 비교하였다. 모의실험 결과 소표본에서 비모수 검정기법들이 ADF 검정보다 우월하다는 사실을 재확인하였다. 새롭게 밝혀진 사실은 부호검정이 윌콕슨 부호순위검정에 비해 높은 검정력을 가지며, 또한 비모수 검정기법들은 ${\rho}$가 양의 부호를 가지는 경우 (0 < ${\rho}$ < 1) 정규분포보다 이중지수분포에서 낮은 검정력을 가지게 되나, ${\rho}$가 음의 부호(-1 < ${\rho}$ < 0)를 갖는 경우에는 정규분포보다 이중지수분포에서 높은 검정력을 보인다는 사실이다.

  • 대천 해빈 쇄파대에서 1990년 8월 사리와 조금 때 2시간 간격으로 24시간 동안 어류를 채집하여, 조차, 조위 밤낮에 따른 어류 종조성의 단기 변동을 분석하였다. 채집된 어류는 총 24종으로, 부어류의 유어들이 양적으로 많았고, 사리 간조 때에는 저어류의 유어들도 출현하였다. Wilcoxon의 signed-rank test 결과 사리 때가 조금 때에 비하여 유의하게 많은 양이 채집되었다. 사리 때에 는 만조 때에 비하여 간조 때 유의하게 많은 어류가 채집되었으나, 조금 때에는 간조와 만조 때 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 부어류들의 평균 개체수는 사리와 조금 때 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 대부분의 저어류들은 사리 간조 때에 유의하게 많이 잡혔다. 채집된 대부분의 저어류들은 사리 간조 때 대부분 채집되어, 저어류들은 대부분이 조금 때 간조선 보다 깊은 곳에 서식하는 것을 알 수 있다.

비모수적(非母數的) 통계(統計) 프로그램의 개발(開發) (Computer Programs for Nonparametric Tests)

  • Computer programs for IBM PC/XT/AT or compatibles, are presented for running 9 nonparametric tests. They include sign test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, Mann-Whitney Wilcoxon test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov one sample and two sample tests, Kendall and Spearman rank correlation coefficient tests, and Chi square test for contingency table. Each program is written with BASIC language and is combined into a statistical package, 'NONPARA'. It is easily accessible through the menu programs. The alogorithms on which each test is based, are also explained and 3 examples are given.

Statistical evaluation of the monotonic models for FRP confined concrete prisms

  • FRP confining is a widely used method for seismic retrofitting of concrete columns. Several studies investigated the stress-strain behavior of FRP confined concrete prisms with square and rectangular sections both experimentally and analytically. In some studies, the monotonic stress-strain behavior of confined concrete was investigated and compressive strength models were developed. To study the reliability of these models, thorough statistical tests are required. This paper aims to investigate the reliability of the presented models using statistical tests including t-test, wilcoxon rank sum test, wilcoxon signed rank test and sign test with a level of significance of 5%. Wilk Shapiro test was also employed to evaluate the normality of the data distribution. The results were compared for different cross section and confinement types. To see the accuracy of the models when there were no significant differences between the results, the coefficient of confidence was used.
