  • Recently, the leakage of personal information and privacy piracy increase. The victimized case of the malicious object rapidlies increase. Most of users use the windows operating system. Recently, the Windows 7 operating system was announced. Therefore, we need to study for the intrusion response technique at the next generation operate system circumstances. The accident response technique developed till now was mostly implemented around the Windows XP or the Windows Vista. However, a new vulnerability problem will be happen in the breach process of reaction as the Windows 7 operating system is announced. In the windows operating system, the system incident event needs to be efficiently analyzed. For this, the event information generated in a system needs to be visually analyzed around the time information or the security threat weight information. Therefore, in this research, we analyzed visually about the system event information generated in the Windows 7 operating system. And the system analyzing the system incident through the visual event information analysis process was designed and implemented. In case of using the system developed in this study the more efficient accident analysis is expected to be possible.

  • The OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Service) framework provides uniform operating environment for service robots. As an OPRoS-based service robot has to support real-time as well as non-real-time applications, application of Windows NT kernel based operating system can be restrictive. On the other hand, various benefits such as rich library and device support and abundant developer pool can be enjoyed when service robots are built on Windows NT. The paper presents a user-mode component scheduler of OPRoS, which can provide near real-time scheduling service on Windows NT based on the restricted real-time features of Windows NT kernel. The component scheduler thread with the highest real-time priority in Windows NT system acquires CPU control. And then the component scheduler suspends and resumes each periodic component executors based on its priority and precedence dependency so that the component executors are scheduled in the preemptive manner. We show experiment analysis on the performance limitations of the proposed scheduling technique. The analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheduler guarantees highly reliable timing down to the resolution of 10ms.

  • Hand carried computing machinery and tools have been developed into an embedded system which the small footprint operating system is contained internally. Windows CE which is one of imbedded operating system is a lightweight, multithreaded operating system with an optional graphical user interface. Its strength lies in its small size, its Win32 subset API, and its multiplatform support. Therefore we choose to port this OS on Arm based board that is provided high performance, low cost, and low power consumption. In this paper, we describe the architecture of ARM based board, the feature of Windows CE, techniques and steps involved in this porting process.

  • Except a desktop computer and workstation, an embedded system is a system containing microprocessors. While a desktop computer and a workstation are designed for a general purpose, an embedded system is designed for a dedicated purpose. Thus, an embedded system must meet some constraints such as low power consumption, low cost, small size, real-time, or user-defined ones. A simple and low cost embedded system may be able to be designed without using embedded operating systems (OS). However, considered design time and effort, some embedded system had better be designed with using embedded OS. Under given constraints and purpose of some embedded systems, one embedded OS can save more time, cost, and effort in designing those embedded systems than others. This paper compares four embedded OSs, Windows CE, Embedded Linux, pSOS, and uC/OS. It analyzes several issues of embedded OS such as process scheduling, inter-process communication (IPC), memory management, and network support. Also, it describes the product of each embedded OS.

  • Recently, as the Windows system supports the Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL), various researchers have studied to apply a docker container on various systems such as server systems, workstation system and so on. However, in various existing researchers, there is a lack of performance-related indicators to apply the system to each operating system (linux system and windows system). In this paper, we compared a performance comparison and analysis of container-based host operating systems. We configured experimental environments of operating systems for microsoft windows systems and linux systems based on a docker container support. In experimental results, the containers of linux systems reduced the average data latency of dataset 1-6 by 3.9%, 62.16%, 1552.38%, 7.27%, 60.83%, and 1567.2%, compared to the containers on microsoft windows systems.

  • In the case of laptops and tablet PC's that replace desktop, it uses the Windows operating system to provide various functions depending on operating system dependency, the Windows operating system does not support real-time processing because it uses multi-level feedback queue scheduling that extends round-robin scheduling. Also, since the initial value of Local APIC Counter can not be obtained from the Windows 8, the real-time processing function provided through the existing RTiK does not work. In this paper, we calculate Local APIC Counter value by using MSR_FSB_FREQ register to support real-time processing function on tablet PC's. We designed and implemented RTiK+, which provides real-time processing function to guarantee the periodicity by calculating the operation time of accurate timer. In order to verify and evaluate the performance of the implemented the RTiK+, the period was measured by using the Read Time-Stamp Counter(RDTSC) instruction and it was confirmed that it operates normally at 1ms and 0.1ms period.

  • A new PC cluster was designed and constructed based on Windows XP Operating system. Primary target of the present design was the high node density per rack by using the general PC parts those are cost-effective and readily available in the market. Other major design points were system cooling and the convenient maintenance using standard PC parts. Presently 24 nodes per rack seems to be optimum considering the specification of the network switching device, system cooling and power supply, but 40 nodes can be accommodated within a single rack at maximum. Windows XP was selected as a high-performance computing environment considering the cost and the convenience in acquisition, maintenance and education. Both fast-Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet network connection were tested and compared with previous data, especially for Linux doter using Myrinet. The result shows that there is no significant difference between the operating systems and the Fast-Ethernet and/or Gigabit Ethernet are good solution for the high-performance PC cluster considering the cost and performance.

  • In this paper, we describe the problems which can happen during multi-tasking process in the Windows operating system (OS) environment. To cope with the problems, multiple-windows manager program is proposed in this paper. If we use the proposed multiple-windows manager program with three virtual screen, we can obtain the effect like using four Windows OS and thus we can improve the tardy speed and the high complexity for multi-tasking process.

  • This paper designs a CDU(Control Disaply Unit) for commercial high precision INS(Inertial Navigation System). The CDU is designed using GUI(Graphic User Interface) programming running on Windows operating system. Since the designed CDU provides standard functions of the Windows operating systems and has a modular structure, it is easy to modify and extend. The CDU has been interfaced to the H-726 INS, from which it's usefulness can be seen.

  • A parallel computing environment based on Windows operating system was constructed and a performance test was mode in comparison with Linux based systems. The Windows 2000 cluster was composed with servers and clients connected by Fast-ethernet, within which two sub-clusters may operates together or separately. Compaq Visual Fortran complier and two MPI libraries, MPICH.NT.1.2.2 and NT-MPICHNT.1.2 were installed as computing tools. Parallel computing performance tests were carried out using two-dimensional preconditioned Navier-Stokes code to examine the dependency on the number of processors, problem size and MPI libraries, those were compared with results from Linux clusters. Results shows that a cluster based on the user-friendly Windows operating system is also useful for the parallel computing and has good performance comparable to the previous Linux clusters.
