  • In this paper, to support a QoS level appropriate to the user in Wireless Home Network based Wireless LAN, we propose a QoS support architecture which includes Wired Network and Wireless Network. Actually, an important problem to support QoS in Wireless Home Network is approached not only on a MAC level in Wireless LAN but also on a integrated method to combine Network layer with Datalink layer. By applying the integrated QoS support method, it is possible to provide QoS support architecture using a Wireless LAN terminal with a minimum changing, and the proposed scheme has advantage of QoS support method, which is more superior than a existing scheme to support QoS in MAC level of Wireless LAN. Simulations results show that overall performance of the proposed scheme can be improved.

  • A recent major development in computer technology is the advent of wearable computer systems. Wearable computer systems employ a wireless universal serial bus (WUSB), which refers to a combination of USB with the WiMedia wireless technical specifications. In this study, we focus on an integrated system of WUSB over wireless body area networks (WBANs) for wireless wearable computer systems. However, current WBAN MACs do not have well-defined quality of service (QoS) mapping and resource allocation mechanisms to support multimedia streams with the requested QoS parameters. To solve this problem, we propose a novel QoS-aware time slot allocation method. The proposed method provides fair and adaptive QoS provisioning to isochronous streams according to current traffic loads and their requested QoS parameters by executing a QoS satisfaction algorithm at the WUSB/WBAN host. The simulation results show that the proposed method improves the efficiency of time slot utilization while maximizing QoS provisioning.

  • This paper focuses on the consideration of not only QoS parameters in wired network, but also QoS parameters in wireless network that supported for the Efficient QoS in the Al1 Service Levels. So, We supposed the "Efficient QoS Model" that guaranteed the QoS parameters "Loss Profile" , "Service Degradation" , "Latency and Jittering" , "Mobility of Mobile User" , "Probability of seamless communication" in wired-wireless networks. And the Method of Efficient QoS support that we supposed consists of "Multicast Routing-RSVP Protocol architecture based on Mobile IP" and "Protocols internetworking model ".

  • In this paper, we propose a QoS routing protocol for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. The proposed routing protocol is a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol. It can find an optimal route that satisfies QoS requirements using bandwidth and delay as QoS parameters. In this paper, we first present a network model for WIMAX based wireless mesh networks and explain why QoS routing protocol is the most appropriate for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. Then, we propose a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol that meets QoS requirements of traffic flowing between mesh client and the gateway. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms QOLSR protocol in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead.

  • Emerging applications in automation, medical imaging, traffic monitoring and surveillance need real-time data transmission over Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS) for real-time traffic over WSNs creates new challenges. Rapid penetration of smart devices, standardization of Machine Type Communications (MTC) in next generation 5G wireless networks have added new dimensions in these challenges. In order to satisfy such precise QoS constraints, in this paper, we propose a new cross-layer QoS-provisioning strategy in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). The network layer performs statistical estimation of sensory QoS parameters. Identifying QoS-routing problem with multiple objectives as NP-complete, it discovers near-optimal QoS-routes by using evolutionary genetic algorithms. Subsequently, the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer classifies the packets, automatically adapts the contention window, based on QoS requirements and transmits the data by using routing information obtained by the network layer. Performance analysis is carried out to get an estimate of the overall system. Through the simulation results, it is manifested that the proposed strategy is able to achieve better throughput and significant lower delay, at the expense of negligible energy consumption, in comparison to existing WMSN QoS protocols.

  • Wireless mesh networks contain multi-hop routing protocols between wireless nodes and are connected to the Internet through a gateway. These networks perform a role as a backbone and are scalable for main applications. We propose the design of QoS supporting mechanisms for wireless mesh networks using software defined networking. Our proposed scheme is cost-effective and features adaptive QoS mechanisms for wireless router's resource constraints. The QoS mechanisms use software defined networking technology with Openflow protocol based on diffserv and intserv models with MPLS mechanism and RSVP respectively. A performance evaluation model is suggested to verify the validity of the proposed scheme using several QoSmetrics of the wireless mesh networks.

  • According to the convenience and efficiency, IEEE 802.11 WLAN(Wireless LAN) has became rapidly wide-spread on the market. However, QoS support is needed for various multimedia service. In this paper, we consider both MAC method of IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.11e and Traffic Category differentiated service by QoS support method. In addition, we study currently existing back-off algorithms in view of comparative analysis. As a result we propose a new back-off algorithm called Collision Rate Based-EDCF. The proposed back-off algorithm confirms the performance by computer simulations in terms of Throughput, and QoS support.

  • Wireless communication is one of most active areas in modern communication researches, QoS (Quality of Service) assurance is very important for wireless communication systems design, especially for applications such as streaming video etc., which requires strict QoS assurance. The modern wireless networks multi-layer protocol stack structure results in QoS metrics layered and acting in cascade and QoS metrics vertical mapping between protocol layers. Based on virtual buffer between protocol layers and queuing technology, a unified layered QoS mapping framework is proposed in this paper, in which we first propose virtual queue concept, give a novelty united neighboring protocol layers QoS metric mapping framework, and analysis method based on dicerete-time Markov chain, and numerical results show that our proposed framework represents a significant improvement over previous model.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, firstly, the fair SoQ-based Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) for D-MAC is analyzed. And a novel SoQ-based relay transmission protocol is proposed to overcome DRP conflicts fast. In the proposed protocol, each device executes the Satisfaction of QoS (SoQ) time slot allocation algorithm independently. And, in order to give the loser device due to DRP conflicts another chance to maintain QoS resources, the proposed relay transmission protocol helps the device reserve another indirect link maintaining the required QoS resources via a relay node.
