  • The three generations of Haenam Yoon, who have been handed down to Gongjae Yoon DuSeo (1668~1715), Yoon DeokHee (1685~1776) and Yoon Yong (1708~1740), were based in Haenam. They had an artistic soul on the stage of Hanyang and succeeded in the art of the family, building a reputation as a family of Seonbi painters representing the late Joseon Dynasty. Born as the eldest son of Gongjae and lived at the age of 82, Rakseo learned a variety of studies, calligraphy and painting from his father and Lee Seo. While learning the paintings of the early and mid Joseon period, and accepting the Namjong painting method, he pursued the realism and three-dimensional sense of the subject by adding a Western-style shading method. In particular, he showed outstanding talent in horse paintings and pottery figures, expressing his original 'Beauty that realistically portrays real scenery'. Cheonggo, who was born as the second son of Rakseo and died at the age of 32, was good at Namjong landscape painting using various tree drawing methods. He painted the original Siuido by changing the topical poems, as well as detailed observations and explorations to accurately describe the facts of the object. In addition, 'Beauty showing affection through realistic scenery' was expressed by newly changing and reinterpreting the tendency of home appliances painting to express the spirit as a form beyond the realistic landscape. Rakseo and Cheonggo father and son made a 'NogUdang' painting style, drastically changing the paintings of the late Joseon Dynasty, and had a great influence on the history of Korean painting.

  • A cytosolic ascorbate peroxidase, hydrogen peroxide-scavenging enzyme, was characterized from Codonopsis lanceolata. The cytosolic ascorbate peroxidase cDNA (CAPX) was 983 nucleotides long and possess an open reading frame of 753 bp with 251 amino acids (MW 27.9 kDa) with pI 5.61. The deduced amino acid sequence of CAPX shows high homology to other known cytosolic APXs ($78{\sim}83%$), but the CAPX was clustered independently from compared ten plant APXs. The CAPX gene was highly expressed in leaf and stem tissues, but not in root. When Codonopsis leaves cut using scalpel were soaked in 1 mM hydorgen peroxide, the expression of CAPX gene was suppressed.

  • Purpose: After abortion, many women could have psychologic problems and physical symptoms. But in Korea, the symptoms and psychologic problems and after abortion had rarely been researched. Methods: The subjects were 29 women who visited Kangnam Korean hospital for postabortion management from May 2007 to December 2007. From questionnaire, we researched the variable symptoms after abortion and depression as Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. Results: The 79% of patients took a rest only less than 1 week after abortion. As the rest time was shorter, the number of symptoms was higher. The frequent symptoms were related to the dysfunction of autonomic nerve system and the circulating system. The patients after abortion had high Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale scores, the mean score was $13.33{\pm}7.11$. The high EPDS scores and the number of symptoms was related with methods of abortion and age. Conclusions: Postabortal symptoms are related with physical symptoms and depression. So psychological evaluation would be needed. And for prevention of postabortal symptoms, the adequate rest time would be demanded after abortion.

  • Objectives In clinical studies, the visceral fat obesity has been emphasized because of its correlation with the metabolic syndrome. But the subcutaneous adipose tissue also would correlate with the risk factor of metabolic syndrome. Especially deep tissue, which is a subdivision of the subcutaneous adipose tissue would be more related. This study is to investigate the relationship between subcutaneous adipose tissue and various diseases. Methods We searched for papers which had subcutaneous adipose tissue, deep subcutaneous adipose tissue and obesity for subjects in the Pubmed site. Results : 24 papers were found. Subcutaneous adipose tissue, deep subcutaneous adipose tissue especially, was related with the insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, sex hormones and other diseases. Conclusions Subcutaneous adipose tissue is a risk factor of insulin resistance but not lipoprotein. But deep subcutaneous adipose tissue was related with lipoprotein. So deep tissue, which is a subdivision of the subcutaneous adipose tissue is a more important risk factor of the metabolic syndrome.
