  • The structure and composition of anodic films, formed on 6063 commercial aluminium alloy at constant current density of $1.5A/^dm2$ with various superimposed cathodic current ratio, in the range 0~33%, in the 11% $H_2SO_4$ with various concentration of $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$, in the range 0~75 g/l, without cathodic current are generally porous-type and no sign of Cu co-deposition appearance, suggesting that cathodic current is an important factor in the Cu co-deposition. Comparison with the anodic film thickness measurement results obtained from anodic film formed by direct anodic current and anodic film formed by superimposed various portion of cathodic current, the portion of cathodic current of input current increases with decrease of anodic film thickness and increases with increase of concentration of $Cu_2S{\;}and{\;}Cu_2O$ in the anodic film.

  • Ni nanowires were fabricated using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane as a template by electrochemical deposition. The nanowires were formed within the walls of AAO template with 200 nm in pore diameter. After researching proper voltage and temperature for electrochemical deposition, the length of Ni nanowires was controlled by deposition time and the supply of electrolyte. The morphology and microstructure of Ni nanowires were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SE), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM).

  • Metal nano-wire arrays on Cu-coated seed layers were fabricated by aqueous solution method using sulfate bath at room temperature. The seed layers were coated on Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) bottom substrates by electrochemical deposition technique, length and diameter of metal nano-wires were dominated by controlling the deposition parameters, such as deposition potential and time, electrolyte temperature. Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) was used as a template to prepare highly ordered Ni, Fe, Co and Cu multilayer magnetic nano-wire arrays. This template was fabricated with two-step anodizing method, using dissimilar solutions for Al anodizing. The pore of anodic aluminum oxide templates were perfectly hexagonal arranged pore domains. The ordered Ni, Fe, Co and Cu systems nano-wire arrays were characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). The ordered Ni, Fe, Co and Cu systems nano-wires had different preferred orientation. In addition, these nano-wires showed different magnetization properties under the electrodepositing conditions.

  • Single crystalline Cu nanowires with controlled diameters and aspect ratios have been synthesized using electrochemical deposition within confined nanochannels of a porous anodic aluminium oxide(AAO) template. The diameters of nano-sized cylindrical pores in AAO template were adjusted by controlling the anodization conditions. Cu nanowires with diameters of approximately 38, 99, 274 nm were synthesized by the electrodeposition using the AAO templates. The crystal structure, morphology and microstructure of the Cu nanowires were systematically investigated using XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and SAED. Investigation results revealed that the Cu nanowires had the controlled diameter, high aspect ratio and single crystalline nature.

  • Voltammetric deposition and differential pulse anodic stripping (DPASV) of Ge(IV)at a gold electrode was investigated. Germanium (IV) exhibits two stripping peaks by DPASV in sodium borate solution, the first peak at about -1.1v. vs SCE and the second one, in the range of -0.6 to -0.2v. vs SCE. Factors affecting the sensitivity and precision included the nature of working electrode, supporting electrolytes, deposition potential, deposition time, pH, pulse height, voltage scan rate. The relative standard deviation of the measurements of the peak currents, for 100ng/ml Ge(IV), was less than ${\pm}3%$. The detection limit of Ge(IV) was 0.01ng/ml. Percent recovery in the extraction procedure of Ge(IV) from matrices by benzene in c-HCl, followed by back extraction with saturated borax solution, ranged from 96 to 104%.

  • Deposition potential, deposition time, square wave frequency, rotation speed of the rotating disc electrode, and palladium concentration were studied on a Glassy Carbon Electrode (GCE) in 0.01M HCl for the determination of palladium in High Level Nuclear Waste (HLNW) by anodic stripping voltammetry. Experimental conditions were optimized for the determination of palladium at two different, $10^{-8}$ and $10^{-7}M$, levels. Error and standard deviation of this method were under 1% for all palladium standard solutions. The developed technique was successfully applied as a subsidiary method for the determination of palladium in simulated high level nuclear waste with very good precision and high accuracy (under 1 % error and standard deviation).

  • The deposition behavior and structural and magnetic properties of electroless Co-B and Co-Fe-B deposits, as well as the amorphous ribbon substrates, were investigated. These Co-based alloy deposits exhibited characteristic polycrystalline structures and surface morphology and magnetic properties that were dependent on the type of amorphous substrates. The catalytic activity sequence of the amorphous ribbon electrodes for anodic oxidation of DMAB was estimated from the current density-potential curve in the anodic partial electrolytic bath that did not contain the metal ions. Both the deposition rate and potential in the initial region were obtained in order of the catalytic activity, depending on the alloy compositions of the substrates. The deposition rate linearly varied against the deposition time. The initial deposition potential may have also determined the structural and magnetic properties of the deposit based on the thickness of ${\mu}m$ order. Furthermore, a basic study of the electroless deposition processes on an amorphous ribbon substrate has been carried out in connection with the structural and magnetic properties of the deposits.

  • A strong SERS effect has been observed on silver surfaces which were prepared by Ag deposition in anodic aluminum oxide nanotemplates and subsequent partial removal of the oxide layers. The advantage of these surfaces for SERS studies is that the controlled size and dispersion of Ag particles can be achieved.

  • A procedure for preparing semiconductor/metal nanowire arrays is described, based on a template method which entails electrochemical deposition into nanometer-wide parallel pores of anodic aluminum oxide films on aluminum. Aligned CdS/Co heterostructured nanowires have been prepared by ac electrodeposition in the anodic aluminum oxide templates. By varying the preparation conditions, a variety of CdS/Co nanowire arrays were fabricated, whose dimensional properties could be adjusted.
