This study investigated the multifaced country image. The casual relationships among the multifaced country image, attitudes toward a country, and purchase emotion and purchase intention of fashion products with Korean images were also investigated. To conduct a quantitative analysis, we collected data from 296 Korean female consumers. SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0 packages were used for statistical analysis. The results of this study as follows. To identify components of country image of Korea, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted. This procedure produced five components such as culture, technique/product, ethical values, nationality, and space. Structural equational model was used to analyze the relationships among the country image, attitudes toward a country, purchase emotion, and purchase intention of fashion products with Korean image. The proposed model was verified.
The purpose of this study was to analyse the influence of mother's characteristics on elementary school students' attitudes toward science. Elementary school students (N=667) and their mothers (N=681) were selected from three other regions, big city, small city, and country. Attitudes toward science and supports for scientific activities were measured by two kinds of instruments. The instrument for the measurement of attitudes toward science includes three scales: cognition about value of science, affection toward science & science learning, and cognitive participation in scientific activities. And the instrument to measure parents' support for scientific activities includes two scales: indirect support and direct support. This research showed that mothers' various characteristics resulted in a difference in students' attitudes toward science. And there were positive correlations between students' attitudes toward science and their mothers' attitudes toward science and support for scientific activities. Also mothers' attitudes toward science and support for scientific activities affected students' attitudes. Especially, mothers' personal interest in science and her mental and physical supports for children's scientific activities had a close relation with students' attitudes toward science.
Recognizing the importance of motivation, goal orientation, and attitudes toward schools is an important component for educators to consider as they establish positive learning communities for gifted learners. The purpose of this study was to describe attitudes toward school and self relationship to schoolwork for students who are enrolled in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade, identified as gifted, accelerated in at least one subject (mathematics), and living in Korea or the United States. Comparisons were conducted for country of origin and gender for all subscales on the School Attitude Assessment Survey-Revised (McCoach & Siegle, 2004). Of the 507 participants (278 Korean and 229 American), girls scored higher on the motivation/self-regulation scale than boys and American students scored higher than Korean students on attitudes toward school, academic self perceptions, goal orientation, and motivation. There were no differences by country or gender on attitudes toward teachers.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how a sense of community, community provisions, and acculturation attitudes towards Korean and American cultures are related to Korean immigrant parents' parental satisfaction. 477 surveys, consisting of 291 females and 186 males, were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results showed that a sense of community directly influenced acculturation attitudes toward American culture and parental satisfaction. Acculturation attitudes toward American culture also directly influenced parental satisfaction. A sense of community had significant indirect effects on parental satisfaction. These results imply that a sense of community within a larger community plays an important role in Korean immigrant parents' acquisition of identities as members of a new country. Building a sense of community is also important for them to experience less acculturation stress and become more satisfied with their parenting while adjusting to a new culture. Implications for practice and research are discussed.
This study attempts to analyze the effect of level of education on the attitudes toward immigrants or foreign workers. More specifically, we examine whether there is significant difference in the effects of the level of education and global mind on the attitude among three East Asian countries (South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan), controlling other socio-demographic factors in relation to increase in immigrants and foreign workers. Using EASS data, we employs sequential logit model to the general attitudes toward immigrant workers into the weighted sum of transition probability within each educational level. One major finding is that there is clear and significant difference in the relationship between the level of education and the attitudes toward foreign workers among three countries. In general, while Japanese and Taiwanese tend to have more open-minded attitudes toward foreign workers as they have higher level of education, Koreans are opposite case that they are little bit more hostile toward to foreign workers with higher level of education. Especially, there is strong positive effect of education on the attitude in Taiwanese case. Another finding is that while there is strong resistance against increase in migrant population in Korea and Taiwan, Japanese respondents want current level of foreign population to remain in the similar level. Our findings imply that there is no one converging pattern of relationship between the level of education and the positive attitudes toward foreign workers which can be applied to any country. Therefore, this paper suggests that unique political, social, and cultural characteristics of each country should be considered to better understand the effect of education on the attitude toward immigrants and foreign workers. Also, we conclude that systematic comparative-demographic analyses should be utilized to provide more comprehensive picture of how difference in educational level affects the attitude toward immigrants and foreign workers.

This research empirically analyzed whether the foods which came from a non-Muslim majority country, such as South Korea, could play an important role in affecting the consumer intention in a predominantly Muslim country. Online survey methods were used to investigate the proposed hypothesis. 318 responses were used for further analysis. Forty-six reflective constructs were adapted from literature and designed by using a five-point Likert scale to facilitate measurement. Estimation models and structural models were examined through SEM-PLS analysis techniques using SmartPLS 3.0 application as the data processing tool. The results showed that religiosity and halal awareness had a positive and significant effect on attitude toward halal labels, including the mediating effect from consumer attitudes towards halal labels which had a positive but insignificant effect on purchase intention. Halal awareness plays an important role for Muslims in the decision-making process for purchasing food. In contrast to the initial hypothesis, the country of origin actually did not have a positive effect on attitudes towards the halal label. In a Muslim-majority country like Indonesia, findings halal food is not difficult, so this research basically is a reminder to marketers to follow those halal principles in implementing their marketing strategies.

Objectives There were previous studies which indicated that attitude toward suicide is able to influence the suicide outcome in both individual and group levels. In regard to the highest suicide rate in Korea, our study aims to explore the influence that attitude toward suicide has on suicide by comparing the national attitude towards suicide with a representative sample of the general population. Methods The target population was 20- to 59-year-old adults from South Korea, Japan, and the United States. The panel data were divided according to gender, age, and residential area of individuals, and an email with a hyperlink to our web survey was sent to the randomly selected participants in each stratum. To measure the perceptual differences about suicide in different cultures, this study adopted the Attitudes Toward Suicide questionnaire. Results A total of 2247 subjects in three countries participated in this study. According to results from factor analysis, there were different structure of factors and included items within factors in the three countries : five factors with nineteen items in South Korea, five factors with nineteen items in the United States, and five factors with twenty-five items in Japan. With regard to permissive attitude toward suicide, the mean value of permissiveness was not significantly different among countries, but permissiveness according to education level, gender, and marital status was different in each country. Conclusions This study is the first nationwide comparative study about attitude toward suicide with a representative sample. Our findings suggest that permissive attitude toward suicide influence the suicide phenomenon in each country ; however, its impact is not a mean score of permissiveness, but the detailed difference by various demographics.
The purpose of this thesis was to improve the plans and methods of teaching and learning activities and contribute to developing teachers` quality and reeducating them by investigating teachers' attitudes toward teaching and learning have a significant effect on the students' attitudes toward mathematics and the students' ability development at mathematics. The inventory was composed of 56 items : three main areas and eight sub-areas. Added seven background factors were sex, by whom was established (is it a public or nongovernmental \ulcorner), teaching career, age, what kind of school (is it general or vacational high school or middle school\ulcorner), region, college. For this analysis of materials used SAS program. And analysis of variance was applied on the seven background factors. All subjects in this study were 341 secondary school mathematics teachers in pusan city and Kyungsangnam-do were surveyed by the questionnaire of Likert type to which the respondents' seven background elements were added. Main results this study were as follows : 1. The overall attitude of the measured secondary school mathematics teachers tends to be positive but a little indifferent. Also attitude toward the students was a little more positive than the other attitudes. 2. There were significant differences (1%) among the sub-level areas except three of them. (r = 0.17~0.60) 3. There were significant differences (5%) by the result of Multiple comparison test among the schools in learning and teaching. So the teachers working at middle schools and general high schools were more positive than those working at vocational high schools. 4. The result of comparison among region was that teachers working in towns and cities were more positive than those working in the country. But there was no significant difference between the teachers working in large cities and those working in other region. 5. There was no significant difference in the overall attitudes toward teaching and learnig among the sex, by whom was established(is it public or nongovernmental\ulcorner), teaching career, age, college. The study left much deficiency to be desired and has to be followed by a continuing study to make it better. For the following study, it is necessary to examine the validity and reliability of the measuring tools more thoroughly and investigate the attitudes with sufficient samples all over the country.
With globalization and new communication technologies, governments aim to cultivate relationships with their foreign publics. This goal represents the convergence of the public relations and public diplomacy domains. In this regard, this study aims to explore how foreign-born faculty members' attitudes and behaviors toward the U.S. are shaped by their relationships with their universities. Findings confirm a significant link between foreign-born faculty members' perceived relationships with their universities and their attitudes and behavioral intentions toward the U.S. The authors conclude that a positive relationship between universities and foreign faculty members can serve as a soft power resource in U.S. public diplomacy. This study contributes to governments' public diplomacy efforts by analyzing the roles of the foreign-born faculty members as strategic communication channels in cultivating relationships between a host country and their homelands.
This research is designed to provide basic data to study the life and culture of multicultural families in Korea by taking a look at the clothing behaviors and attitudes toward traditional dresses. To this end, quantitative research was conducted on Korea-Vietnam multicultural families and Korean families. The surveys of the Korean families were completed by 250 married women in Seoul, and those of Korea-Vietnam multicultural families by 104 married Vietnamese women living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, t-test, crosstabs and ${\chi}^2$-test. The findings are as follows: First, the comparison of clothing behaviors of the Korean families and the Korea-Vietnam multicultural families found that they had statistically significant differences in values towards clothes, clothes shopping orientation and clothes purchasing behaviors. The Korean women were more involved in clothes and fashion-oriented than their Vietnamese counterparts. However, the Vietnamese women in their 20s were likely to rely more on social trends than their own needs when purchasing clothes compared to their Korean counterparts. Korean families preferred to shop in department stores, while the multicultural families relied more on discount stores and outlets. Second, the comparison of the Korean families and the Korea-Vietnam families in attitudes toward their own traditional dresses and how often to wear them showed statistically meaningful differences. The Korean group had more negative attitudes toward Hanbok, the Korean traditional dresses than the Vietnamese group. The Vietnamese women showed more interest in information on Hanbok than their Korean counterparts. They also were wearing the Korean traditional dresses more often than the Korean families. In addition, the Vietnamese women showed a stronger tendency than the Korean women that they took pride in their country's traditional dresses and believed that they were beautiful.
