Effect of Cardiopulmonary Bypass on Platelet (체외순환이 혈소판에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of cardiopulmonary bypass on platelet count, platelet function, and bleeding time was studied in 60 patients. Platelet count was significantly reduced during and after cardiopulmonary bypass. Platelet function also had a reduced aggregation response to adenosine diphosphate. Bleeding time was prolonged to over 30 minutes during cardiopulmonary bypass and not returned to normal level until postbypass 1 hour. The amount of postoperative bleeding was proportional to the degree of decrease in platelet count and function, degree of decrease in platelet count and function. There was no significant correlation between duration of cardiopulmonary bypass and platelet count, platelet function, bleeding time, or amount of postoperative bleeding. Patients with cyanotic congenital heart disease showed a larger amount of postoperative bleeding than patients with acyanotic congenital heart disease [P<0.01], and this difference was due to the fact that platelet function was more significantly affected by cardiopulmonary bypass in cyanotic group. Patients using membrane oxygenator showed a less amount of postoperative bleeding than patients using bubble oxygenator [p<0.005] reflecting better preservation of platelet count and function by membrane oxygenator.

  • This study is intended to look into the influence of environment and construction factor on bleeding of concrete. According to the results, as wind is light, relative humidity is high and temperature is low, the amount of bleeding increases greatly, and evaporation speed is influenced greatly by order of wind, temperature and humidity. As the properties of bleeding by construction factor, the amount of bleeding increases with an increase of placing thickness, but the bleeding ratio, the amount of bleeding per unit volume, increases with a decrease of the placing thickness. Bleeding speed is fastest at about 90 minute after placing concrete. Also, as wind is light, relative humidity is high, temperature is low and the placing thickness is thick, bleeding speed grow faster.

  • This study is focused on the influence of mixture and construction factor on bleeding amount of concrete According to the results, Amount of bleeding with mixture factor increases with increase of water contents and W/C. Amount of bleeding with construction factors is larger in the case of placing height of 1m than in the case of placing height of 0 and 0.5m. Amount of bleeding is larger at the temperature of 20℃ than at the temperature of 35℃ and 5℃, and increases in order of vibration compacting, standard lamping and non tamping. Therefore, to reduce bleeding, it is thought that it is profitable to reduce water content within the range that fluidity and workability don't go bad, to lower the placing height and not to do compacting too much.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the visual evaluation of bleeding amount in hemorrhagic shock in paramedic students. Through manikin simulation training, paramedic students were able to have confidence with estimation of bleeding amount in the prehospital settings. Three rescue training manikins were placed in supine position and artificial blood was poured between the abdomen and pelvis. The bleeding evaluations of 700 mL, 1200 mL, and 1700 mL were performed before and after simulation training. Paramedic students underestimated the amount of bleeding in the trauma situation, and it was found that it was difficult for the students to evaluate the accurate amount of bleeding with a single simulation.

  • Objectives: Heavy menstrual bleeding has a significant effect on women's daily life and health consequences for theirs. Attention to women's and girls' menstrual health is critical for their health. This study presents the results of a novel research on the effect of chamomile capsule on the amount of bleeding, and the duration and interval of menstrual cycles. Methods: The current study was a randomized, double-blind, clinical trial, which was carried out on 118 female students living in dorms of Guilan University of Medical Sciences. The participants were divided into two groups of 59, each receiving either chamomile capsule 250 mg or placebo three times a day, for an interval beginning from 7 days before the starting menstruation till the next onset. Higham chart is the pictorial blood loss assessment to determine the amount and duration of menstrual bleeding. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. Alpha was set at 0.05 for all analyses. Results: The average amount of bleeding in the chamomile group decreased after taking the capsule (p = 0.001). However, statistical tests did not show any significant difference in terms of duration and interval between two bleeding in both the experimental and control groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The present study showed that the chamomile capsule decreases the amount of menstrual bleeding and can be used as a therapeutic method.   • This study is intended to investigate the influence of chemical admixture on bleeding of concrete. According to the results, the amount of bleeding with elapse of time does not make much difference in the case of naphthalene type water reducing agent(RN), Naphthalene type high performance water reducing agent(HN) and Melamine type high performance water reducing agent(HM), but it is largest in the case of Polycarbonic acid type high performance water reducing agent(HP). Bleeding speed also is highest in the case of HP in comparison with other chemical admixture. This prove that high performance water reducing agent like HP has little effect on fluidity of concrete, but influences the amount of bleeding more greatly, instead. As properties of hardened concrete, compressive strength makes no difference in the case of RN, HN and HM, but on the other hand, it increases in the case of HP due to a decrease of air content and the large amount of bleeding.

Effect of the Mixture of Thrombin Powder and Gelfoam Powder on Control of Exposed Cancellous Bone Bleeding (Thrombin Powder와 Gelfoam Powder의 혼합물을 이용한 노출된 망상골면 출혈의 지혈효과)

  • Objective : Excessive bleeding from the exposed cancellous bone surface may cause serious problem such as hematoma formation, infection, transfusion reaction during operation and postoperative period. There are several kinds of bleeding control agent on the cancellous bone surface including bone wax, gelatin sponge ($Gelfoam^{(R)}$), oxidized cellulose($Oxycel^{(R)}$, $Surgicel^{(R)}$), thrombin, microfibrillar collagen($Avitene^{(R)}$) etc. In the past, bone wax was used to control bone bleeding but it is associated with increased infection rate and fusion failure. Recently, gelfoam paste has been used to control cancellous bone bleeding. We controlled the cancellous bone bleeding with the mixture of gelfoam powder and thrombin powder. Material and Methods : Seventeen patients of posterior fusion on the 4 motion segments of thoracolumbar spine were selected to compare the result of bone bleeding control. In the test group of 9 patients, the cancellous bone bleeding was controlled with the mixture of Gelfoam and thrombin powder during operation. In the control group of 8 cases, no chemical hemostatic agent was used to manage the bone bleeding during operation. We calculated the total amount of bleeding from cancellous bone surface during and after operation in the two groups and compared their statistic significance of the result which was judged by student t-test. Results : The average amount of intraoperative bleeding was 1825ml in control group, 811ml in test group(p<0.01). The amount of postoperative bleeding was 943ml in control group and 812ml in test group, there were no significant difference in the amount of bleeding during postoperative period between two groups(p>0.5). Total amount of blood was decreased in as much as 1150ml in test group(p<0.01). Conclusion : We concluded that the application of the mixture of thrombin and gelfoam powder on the cancellous bone surface is the effective control method of cancellous bone bleeding for multilevel posterior spinal fusion.

  • Objectives: This study aims to evaluate how the amount and duration of smoking effects the bleeding and pain of gingival among adolescents in Korea while also taking into consideration the impact of drinking. Methods: Data were utilized from a web-based survey of youth health behaviors conducted by the Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2016. The subjects of the study included 65,528 adolescents from middle and high schools. As dependent variables, bleeding and pain of gingival were used. Data were analyzed using the SPSS Version 20.0 program. Results: After adjusting for the general characteristics and oral health behaviors of the subjects, in the long-term, the ≥0.52 PY group (heavy smoker) experienced 1.28 times higher bleeding and pain of gingival than the <0.52 PY group (light smoker) among adolescents who smoke and drink at the same time. Adolescents who smoked without drinking did not show any difference on bleeding and pain of gingival according to the amount of smoking in the short- and long-term. However, the findings reveal that there was a difference on bleeding and pain of gingival according to tooth brushing frequency. Conclusions: In order to promote the periodontal health of adolescents, it is argued that programs and projects should be implemented to prevent, educate, and control simultaneous behaviors of smoking and drinking.

  • Objectives: This paper aim to report the effects of korean medical treatment including Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang on patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: From 2012 August to 2017 June, six outpatient with abnormal uterine bleeding came to the clinic. The patients took Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang and got acupuncture and warm needle therapy. We assessed the patients' bleeding period and bleeding amount. Results: All patients' abnormal uterine bleeding stopped after they took Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang in 2~40 days. One patient restart slight bleeding, the bleeding stopped after continual korean medical treatment. Conclusions: Korean medical treatment including Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang is effective on patients with abnormal uterine bleeding.

Properties of Bleeding Reduction of Concrete Using AE Water Reducing Agent for Reduction of Bleeding (블리딩저감용 AE감수제를 사용한 콘크리트의 블리딩 저감 특성)

  • This study is intended to investigate the fundamental properties of concrete which AE water reducing agent for reduction of bleeding is used, and the properties of bleeding reduction. According to the results, when the adding ratio of AE water reducing agent for reduction of bleeding increases, a range of normal fluidity and aimed air content arc satisfied, setting time is faster than that of normal AE water reducing agent. And bleeding amount decreases, bleeding speed is highest between 60 and 90 min, and sinking depth increases drastically in 60 min. When, AE water reducing agent for reduction of bleeding is added, compressive strength shows a slight variation by air content, but there is not a large influence by addition of AE water reducing agent for reduction of bleeding. Synthetically, it proves that AE water reducing agent for reduction of bleeding satisfies aimed air content in the range of normal slump and can reduce only bleeding without quality variation of compressive strength.
