  • Accelerometer and laser vibrometers are widely used to measure vibration of structures like a building or piping. Recently, the research measuring vibration by using camera image is introduced. However, this method has a disadvantage. If camera moves by the vibration cannot measure the vibration displacement of structure. We proposed the enhanced technique for measuring vibration using camera. This paper took the experiment for correction of error due to camera shaking. We verified through an experiment. And the accuracy of the method measuring the vibration displacement by using the camera images was analyzed.

  • Accelerometer and laser vibrometers are widely used to measure vibration of structures like a building or piping. Recently, the research measuring vibration by using camera image is introduced. This method can measure multi-points simultaneously. Also, it is possible to measure in the long distance. When we measure the vibration using a camera, the parameter analysis is needed. Therefore, this paper took the experiment for the camera lens selection. An error by the camera images characteristic was theoretically analyzed and we verified through an experiment. And the accuracy of the method measuring the vibration displacement by using the camera images was analyzed.

  • Many studies for measuring vibration using image signal are suggested. These methods can measure vibration of multi-points simultaneously. However, it has the disadvantage that is very sensitive to an environment. If the measured environment is not good, image signals can be measured including much background noise. So, it is difficult to obtain accurate vibration from the measured image signals. Another problem is that camera imaging has a resolution limit. Because the resolution of the camera image is relatively much lower than that of a data acquisition system, accurate measuring vibration cannot be performed. In this paper, we proposed the enhanced technique for measuring vibration using camera signal. The key word of this paper is a curve fitting. The curve fitting can exactly detect the measurement line of interested object. So, we can measure the vibration in noisy environment. Also, it can overcome the resolution limit.

  • Vibration measurements using image processing have been studied by many researchers as it can remotely measure vibration displacements at multiple points simultaneously. It is difficult, however, to obtain accurate displacement from the measured image signals because the resolution of image data is dependent on camera performance and normally lower than that of vibration transducer directly measured. This paper suggests the enhanced technique for vibration displacement measurement by applying the expected value of edge probability distribution to the varying pixel points in the image. The method can both increase the resolution limit of camera image and decrease the measurement errors. The working performance of the proposed technique is verified applying to the vibration measurement of a rotating machine.

  • In the present work, vibration control performance of active camera mount system for unmanned aero vehicle (UAV) is evaluated. An active mount featuring inertia type of piezostack actuator is designed and manufactured. Then, vibration control performances are experimentally evaluated. A camera mount system with four active mounts is constructed and mechanical model is established. The governing equation for the camera mount system is obtained and control model is constructed in state space model. Sliding mode controller which has inherent robustness to external disturbance is designed and implemented to the system. Vibration control performances are evaluated at each mount and center of gravity point. Effective vibration performances are obtained and presented in time and frequency domains.

  • Vibration measurement of rotating shafts by installing sensors such as accelerometers or displacement sensors is costly and dangerous in some cases. As an alternative method, vibration measurement using camera images has been researched because sensor installation is not needed and displacement of a rotating shaft can be directly evaluated. This paper also suggests the enhanced technique applicable to the measurement of vibration of a large-scale rotating shaft. The concurrent methods based on camera images use marks, which are hardly applicable to rotating shafts. The proposed method measures vibration without any marks by evaluating shape errors. The working principle of the method is described and verified by a series of experiments.

  • A Gimbal structure system in observation reconnaissance aircraft is made up of camera module and stabilization drive device supporting camera module. During flight for image recording, the aircraft undergoes serious accelerations with wide frequencies due to several factors. Though base excitation of stabilization drive device induces vibration of camera module, it must get the stable and clean images. To achieve this aim, acceleration of camera module must be reduced. Hence, vibration isolators were installed to stabilization drive device. Considering isolators and bearings in the stabilization drive device, vibration characteristics of gimbal structure system were analyzed by finite element method. For three translational direction, acceleration transmissibility of camera module was calculated by harmonic responses analysis in the frequency range of 5 ~ 500 Hz. In addition to, sine-sweep experiment were performed to prove correctness of present analysis.

  • This study is focused on the structural dynamic responses, i.e., vibration analysis results of the high-accuracy observation multi-axial camera, which is installed and operated for the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and helicopter etc. And, the authors newly suggest a modeling technology of the ball bearing applied to the camera by using three-axis spring elements. The vibration analysis results well agreed to the randum vibration test results. Also, the vibration responses characteristics of the multi-axial camera through the time history analysis of the random vibration were analyzed and evaluated. The above results can be applied to the FE-modeling of the ball bearings used for the space cameras.

  • A set of modal parameters of a stay-cable have been extracted from a moving picture captured by a digital camera supported by shaking hands. It is hard to identify the center of targets attached on the cable surface from the blurred cable motion image, because of the high speed motion of cable, low sampling frequency of camera, and the shaking effect of camera. This study proposes a multi-template matching algorithm to resolve such difficulties. In addition, a sensitivity-based system identification algorithm is introduced to extract the natural frequencies and damping ratios from the ambient cable vibration data. Three sets of vibration tests are conducted to examine the validity of the proposed algorithms. The results show that the proposed technique is pretty feasible for extracting modal parameters from the severely shaking motion pictures.
