  • In this paper, we propose a SSD (simultaneous single-band duplex) system using Digital Cancellation. Also, we propose a method for Digital Cancellation when RF Cancellation is effectively performed. The proposed system has estimation frame for effective self-interference channel estimation in time-domain. The proposed system calculates signal power for selection of optimal coefficient after digital cancellation. Then, the proposed system selects coefficient of minimum signal power. Further, the proposed system uses LDPC code to minimize the effects of remaining self-interference signal. The proposed system shows BER performance of at 20dB by cancelling self-interference and iterating LDPC code. That is, the proposed system shows that the SSD communication is possible in static self-interference channel.

  • The conventional code division multiple access(CDMA) detector shows severe degradation in communication quality as the number of users increases due to multiple access interferences(MAI). This problem thus restricts the user capacity. Various multiuser detection algorithms have been proposed to overcome the MAI problem. The existing detectors can be generally classified into one of the two categories : linear multiuser detection and subtractive interference cancellation detectors. In the linear multiuser detection, a linear transform is applied to the soft outputs of the conventional detector. In the subtractive interference cancellation detection, estimates of the interference are generated and subtracted out from the received signal. There has been great interest in the family of the subtractive interference cancellation detection because the linear multiuser detection exhibits the disadvantage of taking matrix inversion operations. The successive interference cancellation (SIC) and the parallel interference cancellation (PIC) are the two most popular structures in the subtractive interference cancellation detector. The SIC structure is very simple in hardware complexity, but has the disadvantage of increased processing delay time, while the PIC structure is good in performance, but shows the disadvantage of increased hardware complexity. In this paper we propose a mixed structure form of SIC and PIC in order to achieve good performance as well as simple hardware complexity. A performance analysis of the proposed scheme has been made, and the superior characteristics of the mixed structure are demonstrated by extensive computer simulations.

  • Adaptive noise cancellation techniques are ideally suitable for reducing spatially varying noise due to the grain structure of material in ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation. Grain noises have an un-correlation property, while flaw echoes are correlated. Thus, adaptive filtering algorithms use the correlation properties of signals to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the output signal. In this paper, a multi-stage adaptive noise cancellation (MANC) method using adaptive least mean square error (LMSE) filter for enhancing flaw detection in ultrasonic signals is proposed.

  • An alternative inverse feedback structure for adaptive active control of periodic noise is introduced for systems with nonminimum phase cancellation path. To obtain the inverse model of the nonminimum phase cancellation path, the cancellation path model can be factorized into a minimum phase term and a maximum phase term. The maximum phase term containing unstable zeros makes the inverse model unstable. To avoid the instability, we alter the inverse model of the maximum phase system into an anti-causal FIR one. An LMS predictor estimates the future samples of the noise, which are necessary for causality of both anti-causal FIR approximation for the stable inverse of the maximum phase system and time-delay existing in the cancellation path. The proposed method has a faster convergence behavior and a better transient response than the conventional filtered-x LMS algorithms with the same internal model control structure since a filtered reference signal is not required. We compare the proposed methods with the conventional methods through simulation studies.

  • In this study, we proposed an adaptive feedback cancellation algorithm for multi-band digital healing aids. The adaptive feedback canceller (AFC) is composed of an adaptive notch filter (ANF) for feedback detection and an NLMS (normalized least mean square) adaptive filter for feedback cancellation. The proposed feedback cancellation algorithm is combined with a multi-band hearing aid algorithm which employs the MDCT (modified discrete cosine transform) filter bank for the frequency-dependent compensation of hearing losses. The proposed algorithm together with the MDCT-based multi-channel hearing aid algorithm has been evaluated via computer simulations and it has also been implemented on a commercialized DSP board for real-time verifications.

  • In this paper, two methods were proposed to improve the performance of adaptive feedback cancellation in hearing aids. One is “Orthogonality principle acoustic feedback cancellation method(Orthogonality principle method)” to track optimal solution with monitoring the instantaneous gradient, the other is a method using the CLMS algorithm(CLMS method). In many simulation conditions, adaptive feedback cancellation method proposed in this paper was much better than Greenberg method by Sum-method LMS algorithm which is known the most excellent method by now in case of system mismatch, SNR and segmental SMR. Also. Orthogonality principle method is as good as CLMS method in terms of adaptive feedback cancellation in many simulation conditions.

  • This paper focuses on advanced receiver for interference suppression or cancellation from neighbor cells in the 3GPP Rel-12 standard. From UE (User Equipment) perspective, the advanced receiver which can manage inter-cell interference of adjacent cell is required to support and manage fast-growing wireless data traffic. In 3GPP standard, NAICS which is one of approaches to improve SINR and receiver performance by directly suppression or cancellation of data (PDSCH) and control (PDCCH) signal from interference cells is discussed. In this paper, we briefly introduce the concept and candidate receivers for NAICS (Network Assisted Interference Cancellation and Suppression) based on 3GPP Rel-12 standard, and simulation results for basic NAICS receiver performance are provided.

  • In this paper, we analyze the effects of estimation error in the active cancellation signal, which is intended to counter the pulsed-CW signal of a hostile radar. We also examine the effects of estimation error in maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) and quadratic interpolation scheme from a radar signal active cancellation viewpoint. Then, we modify the correlation-based error compensation scheme which mitigates the estimation error of MLE to improve the performance of the active cancellation signal. Finally, we present simulation results to show that the correlation-based scheme has better performance than the other in terms of radar signal active cancellation.

  • In this paper, we propose adaptive algorithms for interference cancellation in RF repeaters with multiple transmit and receive antennas. When multiple antennas are used in a repeater, the imperfect isolation between transmit and receive antennas causes the feedback interference which is modeled as multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channel. To remove the feedback interference, we derive the least mean square (LMS) algorithm and the recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm for interference cancellation based on adaptive signal processing techniques. Through computer simulations for the proposed algorithms, we analyze the convergence characteristics and compare the steady-state performance for interference cancellation.
