  • The Xinfa Suanshu, which was an important astronomical book in East-Asia, was published in 1644. This book was including the star catalogue. We researched the data of 1365 stars recorded in this star catalogue (the equinox of the catalogue is identified to be 1628 year). According to our analysis, it can be presumed that the star catalogue's data were observed from at least two places or more. Based on historical background, we assumed that the Xinfa Sunashu's catalogue likely referenced knowledge from the Europe or Arab/Islamic culture. The researchers who have studied the Xinfa Sunashu's star catalogue have all focused on Brahe's star catalogue. But they did not provide clear evidence. Therefore, we are compared with the star data recorded in Tablae Rudolphinae. In conclusion, we confirmed that 881 stars among the 1365 stars were perfectly edited from position data of stars recorded in Brahe's star catalogue (1602).

  • Catalogue raisonne is a holistic work record of artist which describes academically significant record information related to works by cataloging major works of an artist. Such catalogue raisonne is used as research material for exhibition planner and researchers and even used as fundamental material for winnowing out authenticity of work. Compilation of domestic catalogue raisonne is at an opening step, but in foreign countries, the art related institutions and artist foundations play key role in compiling catalogue raisonne of artists. Cataloge raisonne is an essential element of record about the art work and relevant information. However, as the description of catalogue raisonne can vary in accordance with characteristics of artist and art work. Therefore, this study has analyzed catalogue raisonnes of artists published in foreign countries, examined the characteristics and description element of catalogue raisonne in details and aims to contribute to compilation of catalogue raisonne of authoritative domestic artists.

  • The current status of the AKARI-FIS Point Source Catalogue is reported. The first version of the Bright Source Catalogue has been in public since March 2010 and used extensively in the various fields in astronomy. The second version of the Bright Source Catalogue and the first version of the Faint Source Catalogue are currently under development. The revised Bright Source Catalogue is expected to have improved completeness, reliability, and accuracy compared to the current version. The Faint Source Catalogue will have a scan-density dependent detection limit and will enable much deeper exploration of the sky especially in the high-ecliptic latitude regions. Both catalogues will be available in a year time scale.

  • This paper gives a summary and overview of a survey conducted at the catalogues of five universities in Daegu during November 1982. The major objective of this study was to secure information about user needs in order to improve the catalogue in Korean university libraries. Data was collected by a combined method of questionnaire and interview. A total of 379 respondents were taken on a randomly selected sample of catalogue users. Results of the survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Eighty-eight percent of the students answered that they had used the library more than twice a month. Nevertheless the number of students consulting the catalogue with the same frequency was only 220, or a n.0, pproximately 58 percent. Those who used the library most tended to use the catalogue more than those who rarely came to the library. 2. Those who had been shown how to use their own catalogue were only 32.5percent of which the students found the instruction sufficient for them to be able to use the catalogue were only 37.5 percent. In particular, they stated that instructions by printed materials and/or library orientation were so poor that they didn't give much help in using the catalogue. This problem makes many libraries to review their own method of instruction in order to encourage patrons to use the catalogue more effectively. 3. Most of the students consulted the catalogue in order to locate library materials. Known-item searches and subject searches were 84 and 16 percent respectively. While 70.5 percent of the students used the author-title catalogue without any difficulties, only 35.5 percent of those stated that using the classed catalogue was easy. 4. It was surprising that the number of students using title access in the search was far greater than that of students using author access. In contrast with this, other studies conducted by many earlier overseas investigators revealed that the great majority of patrons tended to use the latter first. Therefore, we should put more emphasis on the title entries in the catalogue itself as well as cataloging rules. 5. Most useful bibliographic elements in the entry were author, title, call number, date and publisher whereas edition, series statement and the location of publisher were rarely used compared with the other elements. Content note was the most desirable element in the entry to be involved, for many catalogers were used not to describe it on the note area. 6. The chief reason given for not using the catalogue was "I can manage without it" with "It's difficult to understand contents of the card entry." The other one was "It's useless to search materials by the catalogue because I've failed so many times to obtain them out of the stock." In response to this, circulation and acquisition system should be improved not to make such complaints any more.

  • We present a more complete and accurate catalogue of astronomical records far meteor showers and meteor storms appeared in primary official Korean history books, such as Samguk-sagi, Koryo-sa, Seungjeongwon-ilgi, and Chosen-Wangjo-Sillok. So far the catalogue made by Imoto and Hasegawa in 1958 has been widely used in the international astryonomical society. The catalogue is based on a report by Sekiguchi in 1917 that is mainly based on secondary history books. We observed that the catalogue has a number of errors in either dates or sources of the records. We have thoroughly checked the primary official history books, instead of the secondary ones, in order to make a corrected and extended catalogue. The catalogue contains 25 records of meteor storms, four records of intense meteor-showers, and five records of usual showers in Korean history. We also find that some of those records seem to correspond to some presently active meteor showers such as the Leonids, the Perseids, and the n -Aquarids-Orionids pair. However, a large number of those records do not correspond to suck present showers. This catalogue we obtained can be useful for various astrophysical studies in the future.

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) has been trying for utilizing the polar station in Svalbard, Norway to receive the KOMPSAT-2 images, which are distributed and applied directly for Europe Space Agency (ESA) users. Now, KARI is operating the SpaceCapture-2 system that provides the KOMPSAT-2 catalogue service via the internet, whereas ESA is operating the EOLI-SA tool that provides access to the online ESA catalogues of Earth Observation (EO) products. This paper describes external interface based on service-oriented architecture in order to provide the KOMPSAT-2 catalogue service from the SpaceCapture-2 system to the EOLI-SA tool. As the KOMPSAT-2 catalogue service is available in the EOLI-SA tool through an implementation of external interface, the extend use of KOMPSAT-2 imageries is expected.

  • We use light-curve fitting models (MLCS2k2, SALT2, and SNooPy) as implemented in SNANA to make the YOnsei Nearby Supernova Evolution Investigation (YONSEI) Supernova Catalogue. The catalogue consists of several hundred Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) in the redshift range from 0.01 to 1.35, and provides distance moduli, light-curve shape parameters, and color or extinction values for each supernova. This data set will be used to study the dependence of SNe Ia luminosities on the host galaxy morphologies. In this paper, we present the YONSEI Supernova Catalogue and preliminary systematic tests for the catalogue.

  • Geospatial interoperability has been pursued by propagating international standards and OGC standards. The NGIC, GeoConnection and other catalogue services are reviewed with aspect to metadata and search functions. Detailed metadata could be driven to users after finding what they want to have. Criteria for search were not fully overlapped with metadata, as simple and typical searches are prevailing. OGC catalogue service standards were made but catalogue services in Korea have been implemented in their own ways, not fully compliance-tested. Different domain technologies have been developed regardless of geospatial service, the relationship and integration methods between catalogue services and other core technologies are reviewed in the form of a pair table. Other issues in geospatial service were discussed in the level of raising issues.

  • In this paper we outline the evolving process of the cataloguing rules in Korea focused on the standardization. We analyzed the new and updated rules under the KCR4( Korean Cataloguing Rules, 4th edition) in terms of usability of the catalogue. Our findings can be summarized as follows: 1) Since there are the rules of the unlimited number of the statement of responsibility, the access point is expanded and may bring the high searchability as a result, 2) Since the rules of the general material designations are added, the catalogue users may easily identify the material, 3) Since the rules of the material specific details area are added, the catalogue users may easily understand the characteristics and other features of a publication, 4) The KCR4 seems a kind of the integrated cataloguing rules for diverse types of materials including the monographs, 5) Since the rules of choice and forms of the access point treated in the authority control, there seem some Problems in usability of the catalogue, 6) The concept of the uniform heading is eliminated which seems considered only for the convenience of the cataloguers not for usability of the catalogue.
