  • The purpose of this research was to develop an index for the certificate systems of family-friendly corporations. To be specific, first of all this research reviewed indexes which were developed in foreign countries. Second, it examined the domestic indexes related to the evaluation of family-friendly corporations. Third, it derived characteristics of family-friendly corporations through an in-depth interview with recruiters from those corporations in Korea and developed the index for the certificate systems of family-friendly corporations. And fourth, it tested the validity and reliability of the developed index. Based on the characteristics of family-friendly corporations which were revealed through the qualitative analysis on the data from the in-depth interview with recruiters from 30 family-friendly corporations, we developed 10 indexes for the certificate systems of family-friendly corporations. Also the analysis of the validity and reliability of the developed index indicated that it has high validity and reliability. Finally this research proposed how to apply this developed index to policies related to the certificate systems of family-friendly corporations.

  • Certificate-based cryptography is a new cryptographic paradigm that provides an interesting balance between identity-based cryptography and traditional public key cryptography. It not only simplifies the complicated certificate management problem in traditional public key cryptography, but also eliminates the key escrow problem in identity-based cryptography. As an extension of the signcryption in certificate-based cryptography, certificate-based signcryption provides the functionalities of certificate-based encryption and certificate-based signature simultaneously. However, to the best of our knowledge, all constructions of certificate-based signcryption in the literature so far have to be based on the costly bilinear pairings. In this paper, we propose a certificate-based signcryption scheme that does not depend on the bilinear pairings. The proposed scheme is provably secure in the random oracle model. Due to avoiding the computationally-heavy paring operations, the proposed scheme significantly reduces the cost of computation and outperforms the previous certificate-based signcryption schemes.

  • Signcryption schemes offer the possibility to simultaneously sign and encrypt a message. In order to guarantee the authentication of both signer and receiver in the most efficient way during the signcryption, certificate based solutions have been proposed in literature. We first compare into detail three recently proposed certificate based signcryption systems relying on the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem and without the usage of compute intensive pairing operations. Next, we demonstrate how the performance of these certificate based systems can be improved by using the Elliptic Curve Qu Vanstone (ECQV) implicit certificates. What is more, generalized signcryption schemes are easily derived from these schemes and the anonymity feature of sender and receiver is already inherently included or can be very efficiently obtained without a significant additional cost.

  • Certificate-based cryptography is a useful public key cryptographic primitive that combines the merits of traditional public key cryptography and identity-based cryptography. It not only solves the key escrow problem inherent in identity-based cryptography, but also simplifies the cumbersome certificate management problem in traditional public key cryptography. In this paper, by giving a concrete attack, we first show that the certificate-based encryption scheme without bilinear pairings proposed by Yao et al. does not achieve either the chosen-ciphertext security or the weaker chosen-plaintext security. To overcome the security weakness in Yao et al.'s scheme, we propose an enhanced certificate-based encryption scheme that does not use the bilinear pairings. In the random oracle model, we formally prove it to be chosen-ciphertext secure under the computational Diffie-Hellman assumption. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme enjoys obvious advantage in the computation efficiency compared with the previous certificate-based encryption schemes. Without costly pairing operations, it is suitable to be employed on the computation-limited or power-constrained devices.

  • There are several certification systems in agricultural products in Korea. Some examples are organic certificate, GAP certificate, KPGI certificate, Top Fruits/ Rice certificate and so on. The certification systems have been launched to guarantee the quality and safety of agricultural products to consumer. Despite the definite objectives of each certification system, it is said that the certification systems have not been successful to convey the related information to consumers. One of the reasons is that there exist several certificates so make consumers confused. It is also quite true that maintaining and promoting an individual certification system are highly costly from a point of institute's view. This paper proposes a plausible solution to these problems by combining several certificates.

  • This paper proposes a two-phase server login authentication system by XML-Signature schema extension to protect server's information resources opened on network which offer various web contents. A proposed system requests and publishes XML-based certificate through on-line, registers certificate extension information provided by CA(Certification Authority) to XCMS(XML Certificate Management Server), and performs prior authentication using user's certificate password. Then, it requests certificate extension information added by user besides user's certificate password and certificate extension information registered in XCMS by using SOAP message, and performs posterior authentication by comparing these certificate extension information. As a result, a proposed system is a security reinforced system compared with existing systems.

So far, four short certificate-based signature schemes have been proposed. However, three of them fail in achieving the existential unforgeability under adaptive chosen-message attacks and the remaining one was not constructed in the normal framework of certificate-based signature. In this paper, we put forward a new short certificate-based signature scheme. The proposed scheme is devised in the normal framework of certificate-based signature and overcomes the security weaknesses in the previous short certificate-based signature schemes. In the random oracle model, we formally prove that it achieves the existential unforgeability against adaptive chosen-message attacks. Performance comparison shows that it is efficient and practical.

  • We have experienced tremendous growth in commercial use of Internet especially in the last couple of years, and the rate of growth does not appear to be slowing down. As the Internet becomes a dominant platform for electronic commerce, all involved parties of electronic commerce are concerned about security of transactions. Various technologies are adopted to enhance the security of business transactions. This paper briefly discusses certificate technology and a way to minimize the business risk of certificate authority in a form of system requirements of CMS(Certificate Management System).

  • Deleting unsolicited email, popularly known as spam mail, is an annoying task for Internet users. Moreover, spam mail causes a variety of social problems. At present, legal restrictions cannot eradicate spam senders. As a result, many technical methods to eliminate spam mail such as spam filtering and online stamps have been introduced. However, the process of blocking spam mail can inadvertently result in suspension of indispensable or beneficial communication. In this paper, we propose a certificate and agent based emailing architecture that can block spam mail, while at the same time approve certified mail. This architecture can be accelerated by synergistic utilization of digital signature and electronic document interchange.

  • In this paper, we review digital certificate technologies and their applications in e-commerce. Current digital certificate technologies are evaluated and their importance is explained. The configuration of certificate flows from providers to users through software, hardware, and network technologies is described. These five domains and the configuration of digital certificate flows guide our review of the characteristics of digital certificates. We then develop a framework for the classification of digital certificates that integrate these five domains with VeriSign's types and levels of assurance. In order to demonstrate the adequacy of our digital certificate classification framework, we populated it with VeriSign's digital certificates. Within each domain, VeriSign's classes of digital certificates are classified in accordance with the VeriSign type and level of assurance. The results of our analysis suggest that the framework is a useful step in developing a taxonomy of digital certificate technologies. The strengths and weaknesses of the study are discussed, and opportunities for further research are identified and discussed.
