  • Data citation remains in its infancy, although providing the citation to a journal article is a typical norm in an academic community. This study examines the need for data citation, its principles and guidelines for improving the issue. In addition, the study investigates cases that established data citation mechanism, including DataCite, Dataverse Network and Data Citation Index that define elements of data citation and provide relevant services. At the end, it explores the current state of data citation in Korea through the analysis of citations to dataset from Korean General Social Survey.

  • Today, citation index information is used as an outcome scale of spreading technology and encouraging research. Article citation information is an important factor to determine the authority of the relevant author. Google Scholar uses the article citation information to organize academic article search results with a rank algorithm. For an accurate analysis of such important citation index information, large amounts of bibliographic data are required. Therefore, this study aims to build a fast and efficient system for large amounts of bibliographic data, and to design and develop a system for quickly analyzing cited information for that data. This study also aims to use and analyze citation data to be a basic element for providing various advanced services to the academic article search system.

  • Despite the widespread use, critics claim that citation analysis has serious limitations in evaluating the research performance of scholars. First, conventional citation analysis methods yield one-dimensional and sometimes misleading evaluation as a result of not taking into account differences in citation quality, not filtering out citation noise such as self-citations, and not considering non-numeric aspects of citations such as language, culture, and time. Second, the citation database coverage of today is disjoint and incomplete, which can result in conflicting quality assessment outcomes across different data sources. This paper discuss the findings from a citation analysis study that measured the impact of scholarly publications based on the data mined from Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar, and briefly describes a work-in-progress prototype system called CiteSearch, which is designed to overcome the weaknesses of existing citation analysis methods with a robust citation-based quality assessment approach.

  • This study attempted to explore the characteristics of knowledge communication and investigate important research topics and key authors by analyzing major academic papers in the field of LIS in Korea for five years from 2018 to 2022. The research method collected and analyzed papers published for five years in four key journals in the field of domestic Library and Information Science from the Korean Citation Index (KCI) database. The paper was selected to extract the author data of the paper and the data of the reference, and network visualization was performed by conducting literature co-citation analysis and author co-citation analysis using Netminer. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to derive a pair of co-citations between authors, and it was confirmed that it is important to include multiple authors in the intellectual structure analysis in the academic field through co-citation frequency analysis among researchers. The literature confirmed the correlation between the topics of the paper, and it was found that research related to Library and Information Science was centered on the topics of library, digital, user, service, and data.

  • Sharing and reutilizing of research data could not only enhance efficiency and transparency of research process, but also create new science through data integrating and reinterpretationing. Diverse policies about research data sharing and reutilizing have been developing, along with extending of research evaluating spectrum that across research data citation rate to social impact of research output. This study analyzed the scale and citation number of research data which has not been analyzed before in korea through data citation index using Kruskal-Wallis H analysis. As result, genetics and biotechnology are identified as subject areas which have most huge number of research data, however the subject areas that have been highly cited are identified as economics and social study such as, demographic and employment. And Uk Data Archive, Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research are analyzed as data repositories which have most highly cited research data. And the data study which describes methodology of data survey, type and so on shows high citation rate than other data type. In the result of altmetrics of research data, data study of social science shows relatively high impact than other areas.

  • Citation analysis studies have reported many problems associated with data coverage problems common to popular citation databases such as Web of Science(WoS). In addition, the studies that analyzed citation patterns of Korean publications found that up to 75% of references in Korean publications were to international publications. As a first step in investigating the international coverage of WoS database, the study investigated the effect of adding citation data from Korea Science Citation Database(KSCD) to the impact factors and journal rankings of the journals listed in Journal Citation Reports. Specifically, the study mined the reference data from top 5 Korean Library and Information Science(KLIS) journals to recompute the impact factors reported in JCR 2009. Since the resulting journal rankings did not significantly differ from JCR 2009 rankings except for minor ranking changes, we analyzed additional citation data from 45 computer science and electrical engineering journals. Although the overall ranking difference was not statistically significant, one of the ranking partitions showed significant change. Such study findings despite its limited data sample suggest the potential impact of non-Western citation databases such as KSCD to bibliometric indicators provided by popular citation databases like WoS.

  • The purpose of this paper was to analyze the distribution ratio of citation in researches in food service and found the relationship of study. The result was as follows. First there were remarkably quantitative researches than qualitative researches. Second, the citation ratio of social studies was high according to frequency-analysis. Third, citation frequency of publication was the highest in the pre-study that included scientific papers, newspapers, art and science contest announcement data and so on. Fourth, there was much citation ratio of domestic literature than foreign literature.

  • The purposes of this study were to identify core journals for pharmaceutical researches in Korea and to examine the research domains of Korean pharmaceutical researchers. Journal citation frequency analysis and journal co-citation analysis were performed on the research papers of Korean pharmaceutical researchers. Korean researchers' citation data were gathered from SCOPUS for foreign journals and KSCD for domestic journals. 116 core journals were identified through citation frequency analysis and journal relationships were suggested as a pathfinder network of journals. Factor analysis on journal correlation matrix resulted in 18 subject domains and related journal lists were also given.

  • Purpose The opportunities and approaches to big data have grown in various ways in the digital era. Business analytics is nowadays an inevitable strategy for organizations to earn a competitive advantage in order to survive in the challenged environments. The purpose of this study is to analyze the intellectual structure of business analytics literature to have a better insight for the organizations to the field. Design/methodology/approach This research analyzed with the data extracted from the database Web of Science. Total of 427 documents and 23,760 references are inserted into the analysis program CiteSpace. Author co-citation analysis is used to analyze the intellectual structure of the business analytics. We performed clustering analysis, burst detection and timeline analysis with the data. Findings We identified seven sub- areas of business analytics field. The top four sub-areas are "Big Data Analytics Infrastructure", "Performance Management System", "Interactive Exploration", and "Supply Chain Management". We also identified the top 5 references with the strongest citation bursts including Trkman et al.(2010) and Davenport(2006). Through timeline analysis we interpret the clusters that are expected to be the trend subjects in the future. Lastly, limitation and further research suggestion are discussed as concluding remarks.
