임상실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 공감피로, 공감만족, 영성과 삶의 질의 관계 (The Relationships among Compassion Fatigue, Compassion Satisfaction, Spirituality and Quality of Life in Undergraduate Nursing Students with Clinical Practice)

  • 본 연구는 임상실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 공감피로, 공감만족, 영성과 삶의 질의 관계를 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구 대상은 C도에 소재한 3개 대학에서 임상실습을 수행한 4학년 간호대학생 172명이며, 자료는 2020년 11월 7일에서 12월 11일까지 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 수집되었다. 연구결과, 공감피로의 하위요인 중 소진은 삶의 질과 유의한 부적 상관관계를, 공감만족은 삶의 질과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 나타내었다. 영성은 소진과는 부적 상관관계를, 공감만족과는 정적 상관관계를 나타내었다. 따라서 간호대학생의 공감피로와 공감만족을 조절하여 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위해 영성증진전략의 개발과 적용을 제언한다.

How can we feel the compassion effect like the Mother Teresa effect?

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest that compassion is used as a mechanism to improve immunity by activating people's parasympathetic nerves. Compassion is pity and heartbreak for the misfortune of others. The instinctive emotion of compassion is the basis for humans to achieve and develop society. This is also linked to the laws of nature and the factors of evolution that Kropotkin, famous for his "mutual assistance (mutualism)" that all things help each other. Compassion is an individual's instinctive emotion and at the same time a driving force for forming and developing society. If the Hopeful World (希望世上) performs Korean traditional music healing at a nursing home, first, it will have a positive healing effect on the elderly in the nursing home, who are the audience. Second, positive healing effects can also be expected from performers. The stronger the compassion, the greater the healing effect. Third, people who watch the performance also enjoy the healing effect. This seems to have brought about a synergistic effect by combining the feelings felt while looking at the excellent behavior felt by seeing the poor person. It seems that this effect can be named the compassion effect that developed the Mother Teresa effect. The Mother Teresa effect refers to a significant improvement in the body's immune function just by volunteering or seeing good things. By expanding this Mother Teresa effect, it can be inferred that a pitying heart, helping behavior, and being with good behavior will all help improve the human immune system. This can also be called the compassion effect. Therefore, we think having compassion activates the parasympathetic nerves, improving your mood, and increasing your immunity.

Relationships between Compassion Fatigue, Burnout, and Turnover Intention in Korean Hospital Nurses

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify relationships between compassion fatigue, burnout, and turnover intention in Korean hospital nurses. Methods: In total, 142 hospital nurses were surveyed as part of data collection. Data related to compassion fatigue, burnout, and turnover intention were collected using a questionnaire between May 2011 and September 2011. The data analysis was performed using PASW 19.0 program, which included one-way ANOVA, independent t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: This study detected a positive correlation between compassion fatigue and burnout(r=.37, p<.001), and turnover intention(r=.55, p<.001). Compassion fatigue accounted for 29.6% of the variance for turnover intention among Korean hospital nurses. Conclusion: The results indicate that it is necessary to reduce compassion fatigue, and turnover intention among Korean hospital nurses.

사이버상담자의 심리스트레스, 공감피로 및 공감만족, 소진의 관계에 대한 연구 (A Study on the relationship between Psychological stress, Compassion fatigue, Compassion satisfaction, and burnout of cyber counselors)

  • 본 연구는 사이버상담자의 심리스트레스, 공감피로 및 공감만족, 소진의 관계를 파악하여 소진을 예방하고 극복하기 위한 방안을 마련하고자 실시하였다. 현재 사이버상담자로 근무하고 있는 82명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 이들 중 5명을 선택하여 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 사이버상담 경력에 따른 심리스트레스 공감피로, 공감만족, 소진의 차이는 공감만족과 소진에서 그룹간의 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 심리스트레스, 공감피로, 공감만족, 소진간의 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의미하게 나타났다. 셋째, 소진에 영향을 미치는 정도를 알기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과 공감피로와 공감만족이 소진에 미치는 변수로 나타냈다. 또한 사이버상담자들이 경험과 인식에 대해 심층 인터뷰를 실시하고 분석한 결과 사이버상담자의 특성에 대한 인식, 사이버상담자가 경험한 소진인식으로 크게 2개의 주제와 함께 5개 범주, 24개의 하위범주로 다양하게 나타났다. 설문지와 심층인터뷰 결과를 바탕으로 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.

Effects of Emotional Labor and Compassion Competence on Dental Hygiene Performance in Dental Hygienists

  • Background: This study examines the relationship between the emotional labor and compassion competence of clinical dental hygienists. It attempted to provide basic data to establish a plan to increase the dental hygiene performance of clinical dental hygienists in the future by identifying the factors influencing the dental hygiene work performance. Methods: This study is aimed at clinical dental hygienists working at the Jeollabuk-do Dental Clinic from April to June 2020 by the Convenience Sampling Method. An online survey site program was used to explain the purpose and purpose of the study on social media including the dental hygienist community, and distribute a URL that allows you to participate in the survey only if you agree to the study. Results: In emotional labor, there was a significant difference in job satisfaction and marital status, and in compassion competence, there were significant differences in job satisfaction, final education, and marital status by group. In dental hygiene work performance, compassion competency showed a statistically significant positive correlation. In other words, it was found that the higher the compassion competence, the higher the dental hygiene work performance. It was found that the total number of years worked and the compassion competence that influenced dental hygiene work performance were statistically significant. Conclusion: In summary, in order to improve the dental hygiene work performance of clinical dental hygienists, it is necessary to compassion competence with the subject. To this end, it is believed that various supports, measures, and systematic management should be implemented to compassion competence of clinical dental hygienists.

중환자실 간호사의 인간중심간호에 영향을 주는 요인 (Factors affecting to the Person-Centered Care among Critical Care Nurses)

  • Purpose : The person-centered care is essential for better patient outcome. This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting to the person-centered care among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Method : This study was cross sectional survey, and the participants included 107 ICU nurses who provided a written consent to participate in the study. Using a structured survey, nurse's compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, and person-centered care among ICU nurses were assessed. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation test with SPSS 23.0 program. The factors affecting patient-centered care were analyzed using multiple regression. Results : According to the multiple regression analysis, education level, perceived caregivers need priority and compassion satisfaction were positive affecting factors to the person-centeredness of ICU nurses. Conclusion : In conclusion, the compassion satisfaction was an affecting factor to the person-centered care, however compassion fatigue didn't affect to the person-centered care among ICU nurses. Therefore, the strategy enhancing compassion satisfaction among ICU nurses will be needed to increase person centeredness.

Factors Influencing Turnover Intention in Clinical Nurses: Compassion Fatigue, Coping, Social Support, and Job Satisfaction

  • Purpose: This study was done to construct and verify a model of turnover intention in clinical nurses, considering the effects of compassion fatigue, coping, social support, and job satisfaction. Methods: For this study a cross-sectional correlational design was used. Participants were 283 clinical nurses in four general hospitals. Data were collected using a questionnaire and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis. Results: The modified model of turnover intention had a good fit in this study. Turnover intention was influenced by job satisfaction, and job satisfaction was affected by workload, problem-focused coping, peer support, family-friend support and compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue was associated with occupational trauma events, problem-focused coping and emotional-focused coping. Job satisfaction was the most important factors controlling nurse's turnover intention. Conclusion: Findings show that job satisfaction, compassion fatigue, and traumatic events are important factors influencing turnover intention. Nurse managers try to manage job satisfaction, compassion fatigue, support, and coping for nurses, it could be expected making proper nursing circumstance.

응급실 간호사의 언어폭력경험과 공감피로 및 직무열의의 관계 (The Relationship between Experience of Verbal Abuse, Compassion Fatigue, and Work Engagement in Emergency Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study is a descriptive research study to identify the relationship between the experience of verbal abuse, compassion fatigue, and work engagement among nurses in the emergency unit. Methods: Study subjects were 107 nurses working in a university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do. The instruments used were a verbal abuse checklist, a subscale of the Professional Quality of Life Scale used to measure compassion fatigue, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS version 22.0 program for independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: Emergency nurses experienced more verbal abuse and compassion fatigue than nurses in other departments, and the level of work engagement was low. There was a positive correlation between experience of verbal abuse and compassion fatigue and a negative correlation between both of these variables and work engagement. Particularly, verbal abuse appeared in the order of nurses, patients & caregivers, and doctors. This means there were serious problems with communication with nurses. Conclusion: In order to reduce verbal abuse, it is necessary to establish a communication culture of mutual respect between nurses, medical staff, patients & caregivers. Moreover, a compassion fatigue management program is needed to reduce emotional fatigue.

병원간호사의 공감역량과 조직몰입이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Compassion Competence and Organizational Commitment on Customer Orientation in Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of compassion competence and organizational commitment on customer orientation in hospital nurses. Methods: The participant of this study was 223 nurses who have worked at a tertiary hospital in Chungcheong Province for at least one year. The general characteristics, compassion competence, organizational commitment, and customer orientation of the participants were collected, using self-reported questionnaires, from June 15 to June 29, 2018. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA ($Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using an SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Results: Customer orientation was significantly associated with organizational commitment (r=.51, p<.001), and compassion competence (r=.74, p<.001). Compassion competence (${\beta}=.62$, p<.001), organizational commitment (${\beta}=.17$, p=.004), and marital status (${\beta}=.11$, p=.034) were identified as the predictors of customer orientation. These variables explained 59.1% of the variance in customer orientation. Conclusion: This study confirmed that compassion competence and organizational commitment may have an impact on customer orientation in hospital Nurses. Therefore, to improve customer orientation in hospital nurses, it is necessary to develop interventions and education programs considering these factors.

조직 내 컴페션 행동을 통한 기업의 사회적 책임 (Building CSR through Organizational Acts of Compassion)

  • 본 연구는 조직 내 개인들의 컴페션 행동들이 조직 수준의 기업의 사회적 책임(CSR)에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가에 대한 이론적 모델을 세웠다. 이론적 모델은 다른 직원의 고통에 반응하여 제공하는 직원들의 컴페션 행위가 조직의 긍정적 또는 부정적 조직 정체성을 일으키고, 더 나아가서 기업의 CSR 활동에 영향을 미칠 것으로 개념화했다. 즉, 조직 구성원들의 가슴에서 일어나는 진실한 컴페션은 긍정적 조직 정체성을 일으켜 자발적인 CSR을 하게 되고, 외부의 압력 등에 의해서 어쩔 수 없이 하게 되는 가짜 컴페션은 부정적 조직 정체성을 일으켜 소극적인 CSR을 하게 된다. 본 연구는 CSR의 선행변수로써 조직 내 개인들의 컴페션 행위와 이를 통해 발전한 조직의 정체성으로 보았다.
