  • Three types of the coupling structures in combline resonators are presented: magnetic, electric, and mixed coupling structures. The magnetic coupling structure is provided by the window, and the electric coupling is provided by the electric probe. The mixed coupling structure which is the superposition of the magnetic and electric coupling structures, is proposed for the electric coupling in combline resonators with easy tuning capability. The responses of each coupling structure are shown. A 4-pole combline filter is designed and fabricated as an application of those coupling structures, and shows good filter responses.

  • For fluoro-quinolone carboxylic acid derivatives, one bond carbon-fluorine coupling constants are ranged from 249 Hz to 257 Hz regardless of positions. But geminal and vicinal carbon-fluorine coupling constants vary according to positions, namely, geminal coupling constants are ranged from 6 Hz to 23 Hz, and vicinal coupling constants are ranged from 1.9 Hz to 7 Hz. In cases of proton-fluorine couplings, three bond coupling constants are ranged from 9 Hz to 10.3 Hz, and four bond coupling constants ate ranged from 6 Hz to 8.3 Hz.

  • Nowadays software developers are moving from conventional software process technologies to the object-oriented paradigm. To develope the object-oriented softwares efficiently, various software metrics have been suggested. Coupling refers to the degree of independence between components of the system. It has long been well known that good software practice calls for minimizing coupling interaction. Many researches have been studied coupling metrics of the object- oriented systems. We review Chidamber and Kemerer's work & Li's work. In this paper, we study the coupling of the overall structures of object-oriented systems by analyzing the class diagram of UML. We propose four coupling metrics for object-oriented softwares. First, we use an established coupling metric for object- oriented systems as a basic coupling metric. Then we modify the basic coupling metric by including indirect coupling between classes, We also suggest two relative coupling metrics to measure coupling between subsystems. We investigate the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axioms of Briand et al. Finally, we apply the presented metrics to a practical case study. This coupling metric will be helpful to the software developers for their designing tasks by evaluating the coupling metric of the structures of object-oriented system and redesigning tasks of the system.

  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is rapidly emerging as the efficient approach in contemporary complex, heterogeneous computing environments. SOA increases the adaptability by loose coupling and its main feature is that three elements such as service provider, service requester and service registry are connected with each other systematically. To design the service-oriented system efficiently, a metric to measure the coupling between services accurately is needed. In this paper, we propose four coupling metrics for SOA based softwares. First, we suggest a coupling metric for service-oriented systems by modifying an established coupling metric of object-oriented systems. Then we suggest another coupling metric which includes indirect coupling between services. We also suggest two relative coupling metrics to measure coupling between subsystems. We investigate the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axioms of Briand et al. Finally, we apply the presented metrics to an industrial-scale case study.

  • The End Coupling is main component of the aluminum hot roll process. The End Coupling is used for transmission of rotational power with heavy-duty load. Fracture of the End Coupling cause serious economic losses because an End Coupling is a very expensive component and it takes a long time to repair it. Therefore, preventing the destruction of the End Coupling is essential for ensuring a long mechanical life cycle. In this paper, the parametric study on the End Coupling was performed in order to minimize maximum stress under operation loads. To verify the interference of spindle assembly with modified End Coupling, kinematics simulation was performed by applying the various combination type and dynamic boundary condition of the spindle assembly. The interference of optimized model was not occurred during combination process and driving process. As a result of an optimum design for life extension on End Coupling, the maximum stress of modified End Coupling was lower than that of the initial model by 26%.

  • Existing numerical models for strain-hardening cement-based composites (SHCC) are short of providing sufficiently accurate solutions to the failure patterns of coupling beams of different designs. The objective of this study is to develop an effective model that is capable of simulating the nonlinear behavior of SHCC coupling beams subjected to cyclic loading. The beam model proposed in this study is a macro-scale plane stress model. The effects of cracks on the macro-scale behavior of SHCC coupling beams are smeared in an anisotropic model. In particular, the influence of the defined crack orientations on the simulation accuracy is explored. Extensive experimental data from coupling beams with different failure patterns are employed to evaluate the validity of the proposed SHCC coupling beam models. The results show that the use of the suggested shear stiffness retention factor for damaged SHCC coupling beams is able to effectively enhance the simulation accuracy, especially for shear-critical SHCC coupling beams. In addition, the definition of crack orientation for damaged coupling beams is found to be a critical factor influencing the simulation accuracy.

  • In this paper, the 5-element active phased array antennas coupled through slotline between elements are designed and fabricated. A recent studies on the active phased array antennas using the transmission line coupling which can be designed to provide strong coupling and the appropriate coupling phase. But this sturucture has limitation of expanding in two dimensions for planar active phased array antennas and distortion of the radiation pattern caused by coupling network. Thus our work proposes the slotline coupling structure asthe broadband coupling network for the active phased array antenna. In experiment, 5-elements active phased array antenas have steering range from -30.deg. to 20.deg. off broadside as the free-running frequencies of end elements are controlled. The overall results show that the proposed slotline coupling structure is suited for the coupling network in the actie phased array antenna system. And the proposed coupling structire solves the expansion problem and eliminates the distortion of the radiation pattern caused by the spurious radiation of the transmission line coupling network. Thus thiscan be expanded to two dimensional coupling network for the planar active phased array antenna system.

  • The seismic behavior of PRC coupling beam-hybrid coupled shear wall system is analyzed by using the finite element software ABAQUS. The stress distribution of steel plate, reinforcing bar in coupling beam, reinforcing bar in slab and concrete is investigated. Meanwhile, the plastic hinges developing law of this hybrid coupled shear wall system is also studied. Further, the effect of coupling ratio, section dimensions of coupling beam, aspect ratio of single shear wall, total height of structure and the role of slab on the seismic behavior of the new structural system. A fitting formula of plate characteristic values for PRC coupling beams based on different displacement requirements is proposed through the experimental date regression analysis of PRC coupling beams at home and abroad. The seismic behavior control method for PRC coupling beam-hybrid coupled shear wall system is proposed based on the continuous connection method and through controlling the coupling ratio, the roof displacement, story drift angle of hybrid coupled shear wall system, displacement ductility of coupling beam.

  • In this study, basic concepts of magnet were introduced, and dynamic characteristics of magnet coupling were explored. Based on these characteristics, it was proposed how to analyze transverse and torsional vibrations of a spindle system with magnet coupling. Proposed theoretical approaches were applied to a precision power transmission system machined for this study, and the transverse and torsional vibrations were simulated. The force on magnet coupling was shown as a form of nonlinear function of the gap and the eccentricity. Also, the form of torque transmitted by magnet coupling was considered as a sinusoidal function. Main spindle connected to a coupling of a follower part was assumed to be a rigid body. Nonlinear partial differential equation was derived to be as a function of angular displacement. By using the equation, torsional vibration analysis of a spindle system with magnet coupling was performed. Free and forced vibration analyses of a spindle system with magnetic coupling were explored by using FEM.
