  • In this paper, we focus on a novel technique called the cube-linear attack, which is formed by combining cube attacks with linear attacks. It is designed to recover the secret information in a probabilistic polynomial and can reduce the data complexity required for a successful attack in specific circumstances. In addition to the different combination strategies of the two attacks, two cube-linear schemes are discussed. Applying our method of a cube-linear attack to a reduced-round Trivium, as an example, we get better linear cryptanalysis results. More importantly, we believe that the improved linear cryptanalysis technique introduced in this paper can be extended to other ciphers.

  • CRAFT is a tweakable block cipher introduced in 2019 that aims to provide strong protection against differential fault analysis. In this paper, we show that CRAFT is vulnerable to side-channel cube attacks. We apply side-channel cube attacks to CRAFT with the Hamming weight leakage assumption. We found that the first half of the secret key can be recovered from the Hamming weight leakage after the first round. Next, using the recovered key bits, we continue our attack to recover the second half of the secret key. We show that the set of equations that are solvable varies depending on the value of the key bits. Our result shows that 99.90% of the key space can be fully recovered within a practical time.

  • This study shows a limit to attacks that the prevention system, which is used as the mutual third aggressive packet path between open heterogeneous networks and applies prevention techniques according to the trace like IP tracking and attack methods, can prevent. Therefore, the study aims to learn information of constant attack routing protocol and of the path in network, the target of attack and build a database by encapsulating networks information routing protocol operates in order to prevent source attack paths. In addition, the study is conducted to divide network routing protocols developed from the process of dividing the various attack characters and prevent various attacks. This study is meaningful in that it analyzes attack path network and attacks of each routing protocol and secure exact mechanism for prevention by means of 3D-Puzzle, Path, and Cube of the integrated security system which is an implementation method of integrated information protection for access network defense.

  • The Goldreich-Goldwasser-Halevi(GGH)'s signature scheme from Crypto '97 is cryptanalyzed, which is based on the well-blown lattice problem. We mount a chosen message attack on the signature scheme, and show the signature scheme is vulnerable to the attack. We collects n lattice points that are linearly independent each other, and constructs a new basis that generates a sub-lattice of the original lattice. The sub-lattice is shown to be sufficient to generate a valid signature. Empirical results are presented to show the effectiveness of the attack Finally, we show that the cube-like parameter used for the private-key generation is harmful to the security of the scheme.

  • Pseudorandom numbers are useful in cryptographic operations for using as nonce, initial vector, secret key, etc. Security of the cryptosystem relies on the secret key parameters, so a good pseudorandom number is needed. In this paper, we have proposed a new approach for generation of pseudorandom number. This method uses the three dimensional combinational puzzle Rubik Cube for generation of random numbers. The number of possible combinations of the cube approximates to 43 quintillion. The large possible combination of the cube increases the complexity of brute force attack on the generator. The generator uses cryptographic hash function. Chaotic map is being employed for increasing random behavior. The pseudorandom sequence generated can be used for cryptographic applications. The generated sequences are tested for randomness using NIST Statistical Test Suite and other testing methods. The result of the tests and analysis proves that the generated sequences are random.

  • Security quad and cube (SQC) is a network attack analyzer that is capable of aggregating many different events into a single significant incident and visualizing these events in order to identify suspicious or illegitimate behavior. A network administrator recognizes network anomalies by analyzing the traffic data and alert messages generated in the security devices; however, it takes a lot of time to inspect and analyze them because the security devices generate an overwhelming amount of logs and security events. In this paper, we propose SQC, an efficient method for analyzing network security through visualization. The proposed method monitors anomalies occurring in an entire network and displays detailed information of the attacks. In addition, by providing a detailed analysis of network attacks, this method can more precisely detect and distinguish them from normal events.

  • Objectives: An outbreak of food poisoning occurred among the baseball club students at a high school in Ulsan city in 2014. An epidemiological investigation was carried out to examine the infection source and the transmission route of pathogen, and to prevent a recurrence. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted for 26 male students and 2 food handlers. Rectal swabs were examined in 7 students and the 2 food handlers, and an environmental investigation was performed. A retrospective cohort study was used to evaluate the association between risk factors and disease. Results: The attack rate was 35.7% (10 persons/28 persons) from June 9 to 14, and Enterotoxigenic E. coli ST/LT was isolated from 7 among 28 persons. The study revealed that no food was a significant risk factor for the outbreak. There were no connection between environmental factors and the outbreak. Conclusions: The major risk factors for this outbreak were presumed to be the contaminated ice cube and ice making machines and eating ice cube from the machines. More strict personal and environmental hygiene need to be enforced to prevent such outbreaks.
