From the home economist's perspective, it was necessary to explore the direction of integration of family life culture in the multi-cultural society. This study concluded that there is a necessity to accept foreign culture and create a new culture while still maintaining their and our own cultural identity respectively. For this purpose, integration and assimilation must progress side by side to maintain the cultural identity and stability of multi-cultural families. But, women migrants are to adapt in their everyday life, they need to attend a Korean-language course and take part in a traditional Korean culture program such as having an assimilational characteristics. Also for the happiness of multi-cultural families ultimately not for the confronted problems, it requires sometimes education of changing migrants' own traditional customs and life culture partly. • Cultural welfare is the cultural activity provided and supported by state, a local autonomous entity, and private organizations to improve the quality of people's life. And as a basic concept as well as a premise of discussion on cultural welfare, cultural right is a social right, a right which can make cultural express, gain access to cultural activities. A statue concerning cultural activities contributed to the promotion of our people's cultural welfare interwoven with cultural right. But laws were made for the purpose of enforcing national policy and supporting regime rather than promoting fundamental human rights, and they became effective and were understood as a mere part of national government, not as perspective of their execution, security of right or realization of them. On the other hand, based on laws concerning social welfare, cultural life means human life consisting of minimum welfare system, and minimum level of life which guarantees least cultural life is becoming an objective standard. This means the standard level of cultural right, and for the handicapped cultural rights are concretely guaranteed as a right in that they will not be discriminated for their approaching to cultural activities. However, laws concerning cultural activities have limitation in that there are ambiguous concept and limitation of cultural life, and there are no concrete and active laws about cultural rights to guarantee cultural life. In a constitution and laws concerning social welfare, cultural welfare must have concrete contents about the range and the level of cultural rights. In order cultural rights to be turned into complete ones which can assert its rights, as seen in the Supreme Court, a court has to try to understand the violation of cultural rights as the violation of legal rights.

  • Culture represents forms of life appeared in various dimensions. Advertisements which represent these forms of life show the most important social and cultural phenomenon. The necessity of research on the cultural characteristics of society has been raised because the effectiveness of advertisement could have been varied depending on the cultural value. Moreover, within a society, values reflected by advertisements tend to vary in different eras. Thus, this study aims to clarify the differences between cultural values from different eras through an analysis of cultural characteristics and symptoms with consideration of the time flow. This study also examines the meanings of cultural characteristics highlighted by the study. For the investigation, two Korean women's magazines were selected, from 1955 to 2008. Data were analyzed using chi-squared test which was conducted with Crosstab using the PASW statistics 17.0 Program. The results were as follows: there were changing aspects from traditional values to modern values by years. Additionally, each period was described using several keywords. The keywords were divided by decade: in the '50s keywords were 'lifestyle change', 'material value increase' and the 'challenge to traditional values', in the '60s keywords were 'American culture acceptance', 'material success', in the '70s keywords were 'the rise of nonmaterial value', 'rationalism' and 'egalitarianism', in the '80s 'individualism', 'Life style and culture group differentiation', 'conspicuous consumption', in the '90s 'globalization', 'emphasis on personality sensitivity', 'health-oriented', 'improve the quality of life', while in the '00s keywords were 'spread of digital life', 'rational consumption patterns', 'the 3rd distribution'. Through the research, important changes in the cultural characteristics of Korea were observed. Furthermore, we may be able to think of the most effective way of advertising by identification of the cultural characteristics of the society.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of cultural capital on individuals and society, and to demonstrate the causal relationship between cultural capital and viewing loyalty. Existing studies conducted from a cultural sociological point of view have mainly linked cultural capital to social inequality issues, so the role of cultural capital in personal life and social life has not received attention. To fill this literary gap, this study explored the role of cultural capital centering on the art field. A structural equation model was used to test the research hypotheses, and data were collected for college (graduate) students from three universities in Seoul. As a result of the study, it was found that artistic cultural capital had a significant effect on self-image in the field of personal life. In addition, it was found that artistic cultural capital had a positive effect on tolerant attitudes in the field of social life. Finally, it was found that viewing loyalty, which refers to favorable attitudes and behaviors toward visiting art museums, was significantly affected by artistic cultural capital. The results of this study have academic and practical implications in terms of exploring the practical role of cultural capital.
