The purpose of this study was to verify the validity of Ohio State Teacher Efficacy Scale(OSTES: Tschannen-Moran, 2000) when used with Korean home economics teachers. To achieve this purposes, the surveys with 263 secondary school home economics teachers was conducted by the prime investigator. Statistical procedures included descriptive statistics, factor analysis, internal consistency. Cronbach's a was calculated to test the reliability of items and their internal consistency and Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) was conducted to test the structure of each factors with principal analysis and varimax rotation. Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) was conducted to test the factor validity of this scale with AMOS program. The reliability test result of 20 items appeared Cronbach's a=.86. The factor analysis on teacher efficacy with 263 survey of secondary school home economics teachers produced 5 factors including efficacy in classroom management. efficacy in needs assistance, efficacy in instructional strategies, efficacy in environmental assistance and efficacy in teaming assistance. The validity of teacher efficacy scale was moderately verified by the confirmatory factor analyses(GFI=.87, AGFI=.84. CFI=.86. PNFI=.72, RMR=.05. RMSEA=.07). The results lend a support to the teacher efficacy scale as a valid instrument.
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between self-efficacy and self-care of hemodialysis patients. The subjects consisted of 140 hemodialysis patients who underwent hemodialysis at 2 university hospitals. The data were collected by questionnaires and chart review. The questinnaire used the self-efficacy tool developed by Kim Ju Hyune(1995) and the self-care tool developed by literature review and indepth open openended questions to 10 patients. Also, the questionnaire included physiologic data which collected through review of the patients' charts. The statistical analysis was used the SPSS program for frequency, mean, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation. The results were as follows : 1. The mean score for general self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.103(1-4point) and there were significant differences according to percieved health. The mean score for specific self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.113 (1-4point) and there were significant differencies according to percieved health, side effects and complications which related hemodialysis. 2. The mean score for self-care of hemodialysis patients was 3.822(1-5point) and there were significant differencies according to marital status and economic level. 3. The relationship between general self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). The relationship between specific self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). In conclusion, this study revealed the level of self-efficacy and self-care, and the positive correlation between self-efficacy and self-care in hemodialysis patients. Therefore, intervention is needed to promote self-efficacy for self-care of hemodialysis patients. Considering the vulnerable self-care area same as checking blood pressure and weight, fluid restriction, social adjustment, exercise and rest, luther studies should develop self-efficacy promoting programs for self-care of hemodialysis patients.

This study examines whether there are differences in the evaluation of clothing products according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. A total of 300 surveys were distributed and 231 were used for analysis. The data were analyzed by regression and factor analysis. The results are as follows. First, there were significant differences in the product attributes considered according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The consumers with high self-efficacy considered diverse product attributes comprehensively when making purchase decisions and had significantly higher score in perceived value and post-purchase satisfaction level than the consumers with low self-efficacy. Second, there were differences in the attributes of clothing products that effects perceived value according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The attributes of 'clothes that I like' and 'necessary clothes' had a significant effect on perceived value for both consumers. The attributes of 'design that suits me' and 'inexpensive price' had significant effect on perceived value on consumers with high self-efficacy while the attributes of 'harmony with other clothes' had a significant effect on perceived value for consumers with low self-efficacy. Third, there were differences in product attributes and the perceived value that influenced post-purchase satisfaction level according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The attributes of 'design that suits me' and perceived value had a direct effect on the post-purchase satisfaction level four consumers with a high self-efficacy. For the consumers with low self- efficacy, the attributes of 'clothes I like', 'necessary clothes', and 'design similar to that of usually purchased products' had a direct effect on post-purchase satisfaction level; however, the effect of perceived value was not found.
This study was conducted to find out the relationship among several variables such as health status, self-efficacy, health related hardiness, family support and pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The subjects were 108 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who visited the out patient department of Rheumatism at E university hospital in Teajon. Data were collected by questionnaire from November 26, 1999 to January 14, 2000. The instrument used in this study were health status developed by Bae et al(1998), self-efficacy scale developed by KRHPS, health related hardiness modified by Suh(1988), family support scale developed by Kang(1984), Pain with graphic rating scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, multiple regression using the SPSS Win program. The results were as follows; 1. There were no statistically significant differences between general characteristics and variables such as health status, self-efficacy, health related hardiness and family support respectively. 2. Statistically significant differences were not found between clinical characteristic and variables such as health status, self-efficacy, health related hardiness and family support respectively. 3. Significant correlations were found between health status and self-efficacy, self-efficacy and hardiness, hardiness and family support, health status and pain, self-efficacy and pain respectively(p<0.01), and health status and hardiness, self-efficacy and family support, hardiness and pain respectively(p<0.05). 4. Self-efficacy and pain were significant affecting factors of a health status. In these results, it is suggested that nursing intervention to increase self-efficacy and to reduce pain was very important for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
Purpose: This study intends to clarify the relative importance and character of the college student's attachment to their parents. We examined the effect that the father and mother attachments have en their self-efficacy and adjustment to their college life. Method: The subjects were 271 students who attendee a university. For this study, we used the inventory of the Parent Attachment-Revised version by Armsden and Greenberg, a self-efficacy test by Sherer et al. and the investigation far adjustment to college life by Barker & Siryk. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and simple multiple regression analysis on an SPSS WIN 10.0 program. Results: There was a significant differences in the attachment to the father according to their grades and in the attachment to the mother according to their type of residence. There was a significant difference in the adjustment to their college life according to their grades. Regression analysis on attachment and self-efficacy suggested that attachment has an influence on self-efficacy. Regression analysis on attachment and adjustment to college life suggested that attachment has influence on the adjustment to college life. Attachment also has an influence on academic adjustment, social adjustment, personal-emotional adjustment and institutional adjustment on the subscale of adjustment to college life. Regression analysis on self-efficacy and adjustment to college life suggested that self-efficacy has an influence on adjustment to college life. Further, self-efficacy has an influence on academic adjustment, social adjustment, personal-emotional adjustment and institutional adjustment on the subscale of adjustment to college life. Conclusion: This study shows that there are relationships among attachment, self-efficacy and adjustment to college life. Especially, self-efficacy is a very important factor influencing the adjustment to college life. So, a plan designed to increase students' self-efficacy should be created based on the results of this study.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the actor and partner effects of health status, marital satisfaction, and self efficacy on retirement preparation in middle aged couples using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model. Methods: Participants were 121 middle aged couples living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Daegu City, Korea. All measures were self-administered. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results: 1) Wife's self efficacy and marital satisfaction showed direct actor and partner effects on retirement preparation in middle aged couples. Wife's health status showed an indirect actor effect through wife's self efficacy and marital satisfaction on wife's retirement preparation, and showed an indirect partner effect through husband's self efficacy on husband's retirement preparation. 2) Husband's self efficacy and marital satisfaction showed only direct actor effect on retirement preparation. Health status among the husbands showed an indirect actor effect on husband's retirement preparation through their self efficacy and marital satisfaction, and an indirect partner effect through wife's marital satisfaction on wife's retirement preparation. 3) The actor effect size of health status on self efficacy and marital satisfaction was larger among husband's than wife's. Additionally, the partner effect size of health status on self efficacy and marital satisfaction was different between the two groups; however, the actor and partner effect size of self efficacy and marital satisfaction on retirement preparation was the same for husband and wife. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that nursing intervention strategies for improving self efficacy and marital satisfaction are strongly needed to enhance retirement preparation of middle aged couples in Korean community.
The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of listening comprehension ability, self-efficacy, comprehension anxiety, and exposure time on Korean language understanding. In order to achieve our goal, listening examinations and surveys were conducted among 95 students from a university in Thailand, studying Korean language. As a result, it was revealed that the most influential factor on one's listening ability was self-efficacy. In addition, when the correlation between listening self-efficacy and other factors was examined, it was shown that there existed a statistically significant relationship. Particularly, listening comprehension anxiety had the most significant correlation with listening self-efficacy. Similarly, cognitive strategy demonstrated a significant correlation with listening self-efficacy. On the other hand, the effects of self-efficacy and other factors on listening scores such as the degree and types of strategy that students used were also studied. The findings revealed that, in most cases, strategy-intensive group's test results were influenced more by exposure time, while the less intensive group's scores were influenced more by their self-efficacy. Finally, after analyzing the effects of time spent on conversing with friends and watching Korean television on listening self-efficacy, it was discovered that both factors had statistically significant relationships with listening self-efficacy. Through this study, such results can be integrated and applied to education in various ways. The most important part for listening comprehension ability is enhancing self-efficacy and in order to do so, the appropriate education methods should be used to reduce listening comprehension anxiety, stimulate strategy use, and increase listening exposure time.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect and difference of hotel chef's peer pressure on self-efficacy and collective efficacy, and to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. For the study, questionnaires were distributed to 6 hotels in Seoul and Busan, and 285 valid copies were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0. In the relationship between variables, collective efficacy was found to have a greater effect on peer pressure among collective efficacy and self-efficacy. And it was found that among self-efficacy, self-efficacy had a greater effect on job satisfaction, and this was collective efficacy due to peer pressure. It is judged that this is due to the professional characteristics and characteristics of the chef, where individual work and skills are important. Also, job satisfaction was found to have a positive effect on job performance. In conclusion, we suggested that these two dimensions of efficacy should be studied together and used in human care programs.
The main purpose of this research is to analyze stress, social support and coping behavior of adults based on their level of self-efficacy. A total of 899 adults (399 male; 500 female), each with a child attending either elementary and secondary school, participated in the study. The inter-rater reliability for the open-ended questionnaire utilized in the study was 93.4%, with a Kappa coefficient of .92. The range of Cronbach α for the variables measured through a quantitative method was .87~.92. The results were as follows: First, the representative responses to the question about their most painful stress experiences were, financial difficulties, child rearing and duties of workplace. The Lower Efficacy group, compared to the Upper Efficacy group, responded much more with financial difficulties related responses. There were significant differences in the level of stress symptoms according to level of self-efficacy. The Lower Efficacy group expressed stronger levels of stress symptoms when compared to the Upper Efficacy group. Second, in terms of social support, the participants responded that they received the most help from their family members, followed by none(self), and friends. When comparing the two efficacy groups, the Upper Efficacy group responded most frequently that they received social support from their family members, whereas the Lower Efficacy group indicated none. There were significant differences in the level of relational conflicts according to the level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group showed much less conflict in parent-child relations, spousal relations and relations with their boss, compared to the Lower Efficacy group. Third, for the type of social support participants received, the most frequent response was emotional support, followed by none, and advice. Relatively, when comparing the two groups with each other, the Lower Efficacy group responded more frequently with none, whereas for the Upper Efficacy group responded more frequently with advice. There were significant differences in the amount of emotional support received according to level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group received much more emotional support from their spouses and their bosses compared to the Lower Efficacy group. Fourth, the most frequently adopted coping style to stress was self-regulation, followed by direct problem solving, and nothing(none). The most frequent response for the Upper Efficacy group was direct problem solving, whereas for the Lower Efficacy group was nothing(none). There was a significant difference in coping efficiency to stress according to level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group coped more efficiently with stress than the Lower Efficacy group.
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between teacher's efficacy and job stress and the effects of educare center teacher's teaching efficacy on job stress. The subjects of this study were 200 teachers at the public, private, or home child-care centers in Pyeongtaek, Songtan and Osan. To analyze the general characteristics of subjects, frequency analysis and descriptives, ANOVA and correlation analysis, and multiple regression were used. The results of this study were as follows: First, educare center teacher's teaching efficacy level was a little higher than the average. The mean score of general belief of teaching efficacy was a little higher than the personal belief of teaching efficacy. Second, educare center teacher's job stress level show to be lower than average. Job related stress is the highest. Next is, the child related stress, personal related stress. Third, teaching efficacy significantly influenced on the job stress. The result indicated the higher educare center teacher's belief of efficacy was, the lower the job stress was. While general teaching efficacy was not associated with teaching efficacy, personal teaching efficacy was significantly related to teaching efficacy. The result of analyzing the effects of educare center teacher's teaching efficacy on job stress showed personal teaching efficacy had a strong influence on job stress. In detail, there was a significant negative correlation between personal teaching efficacy and job stress. Among the general factors such as the level of education, monthly income, work hours had significant influence on job stress. Therefore, the higher the level of education, the less monthly income, the longer work hours, it appeared that educare center teacher's job stress is higher.
