Shrinkproof Effect and Property of Shrinkproof-Finished Wool Knit

  • The shrinkproof-finished wool fibers treated with resin coating and chlorination methods were used to find out an optimal shrinkproof finishing method keeping the quality properties of wool fabric to manufacturers. Shrinkage during repeated washing, electrostatic propensity, thermal resistance and pilling propensity of shrinkproof-finished wool knits, and analysis of finishing methods were measured. Upon the results from the surface examination of shrinkproof-finished wool fibers, the patterns of scale layer and degree of scale removal were subject to change according to the finishing processes. The shrink resistance was significantly enhanced on repeated washing of shrinkproof-finished knits, especially, chlorinated wool. Addition of strong physical force and alkali detergent applied in this washing experiment brought about superior effects with the low shrinkage rate although it was very severe washing conditions for wool fabrics. The results from the washing experiment implies that shrinkproof-finished knitted fabrics can be machine washed at individual households with other ordinary laundry. There was some changes and variation found in thermal resistance, electrostatic propensity, and pilling, however, it seems to be minor within standard limits. Therefore, shrinkproof-finished knitted fabrics did not bring serious changes to other physical properties comparing with original wool, which helps consumers handle wool knitted clothes more conveniently.

  • Shrink-resist effects and properties of the knitted fabrics from wool/acrylic(W/A) fiber blends were determined to find out an optimal blending ratio keeping the quality properties of wool products. The test fabrics were knitted by a weft knitting machine with all needle knitting structure ($0{\times}0$ rib) under the same knitting conditions with five different types of yarns: $W100\%,\;A100\%$, and W/A blended yarns(70/30, 50/50, 30/70). Shrinkage during repeated washing, electrostatic propensity, thermal resistance and pilling propensity of W/A knits. The shrink resistance was significantly enhanced on repeated washing of W/A knits, especially, over $50\%$ acrylic blended knits. Addition of strong physical force and alkali detergent applied in this washing experiment brought about superior effects with the low shrinkage rate although it was very severe washing conditions for wool fabrics. PET, Tencel, Cotton MVS 혼방사로 제직된 침구용 직물의 성능평가 (Bedding Fabric Performance Using Polyester, Tencel and Cotton MVS Blended Spun Yarns)

  • This study evaluated the performance of bedding fabrics consisting of warp (150d/144f, polyester) and weft (polyester, Tencel and cotton MVS blended spun yarn) with blend ratio of weft. We measured electrostatic propensity, moisture properties, pilling properties and mechanical properties of the fabrics for this study. F-P fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. However, tensile properties and electrostatic propensity were relatively inferior to other characteristic values. Significant static electricity may make F-P fabric uncomfortable. F-P7C3 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. Static electricity may make F-P7C3 fabric uncomfortable; in addition, F-P5C5 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. Rough and stiff hand feel were expected to increase because tensile properties decreased and surface properties increased. F-C fabric showed outstanding pilling properties and electrostatic propensity. However, it showed inferior moisture control properties. F-P5T4C1 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties, pilling properties and electrostatic propensity. Several properties are outstanding; however, the hand feels are very rough and stiff from bending. The water evaporation and static electricity increased with increasing polyester content. As the content of cotton increased, tensile properties were improved. However, water evaporation and static electricity decreased. The addition of Tencel increased the thickness and compression energy so that it exhibited a soft characteristic upon compression and an excellent moisture control properties, but the surface became somewhat coarse.

가스충전소에서 작업복의 정전기 안전관리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety Management of the Electrostatic in Working Clothes at the Gas Station)

  • In order to prevent fire and explosion due to the electrostatic discharge at the Gas Station etc. This result will be applied to standard in the future. Wearing the non-electrostatic removing wear, Charged voltage of human body is 3,980V(MIE is approximately 0.79mJ). There is a possibility of fire explosion because the MIE of LP gas is 0.25mJ. In accordance with using period(whasing times), Charged voltage is shown that propensity is increased. Electrostatic charge amount is upper standard($0.6{\mu}$C) of the hazard of electrostatic removing wear. There is a possibility of fire and explosion. Therefore, countermeasure and management are needed about gas station worker.

직물대전성에 관한 연구 (Studies on Electrostatic Propensity of Fabrics)

  • 최근 필자가 견직물방추 가공하기 위해 개발한 acryl 합성수지를 합성섬유와 견직물가공된 것이 정전기발생에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알기 위해 실행했다. 본 실험조건은 다음과 같다. (A) 사용가공처리제는 0.5% acryl polymer 525였다(자가제). (B) 각 직물에 대한 정전기 대전압은 K.S. 규격마찰 검사(KS K 0555) 방식에 따라 했다. (C) 마찰대상 직물로서는 K.S. 표준규격 KS K 0905 cotton, nylon, polyester와 공시직물로 했다. (D) 시료로서 silk, nylon, polyester 및 acryl 직물을 상기 합성수지 가공한 것과 안한 것을 구분해서 정전기 대전압을 조사했다. (E) 가공한 것과 가공하지 않은 시료별로 K.S. 표준규격(KS K 0465) 방식에 의해 세탁했다. 이와 같은 조사로 인하여 여러 가지 흥미있는 결과를 얻었는데 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. polyster를 제외하고는 silk, bylon, acryl 직물의 가공직물의 대전압이 가공하지 않은 것의 대전압보다 높았다(Table 5참조). 2. 가공한 polyester 직물의 K.S. polyester에 대한 대전압이 현저하게 감소하였다. 3. 견직물의 대전성은 흠이 없는데도 불구하고 높게 나왔는데 그 이유로서는 견직물의 결점이 마찰에 약하다는 성질과 마찰에 의한 K.S. 표준검사규격이 마찰에 강한 합성섬유를 대상으로 되어서 견직물에는 부적합한데 있다. 4. 동질섬유직물간의 마찰로 인한 대전압이 이질섬유직물간이 대전압보다 작게 나왔다. 5. 정전기 대전압은 세탁반복에 따라 증가하였다. 6. 많은 조사 결과가 Contact Electrification Series 원칙에 준하고 있는 사실, 즉 series상 피차 멀리 배치될수록 마찰대전압이 높아지고 있었다(Fig. 6 참조). 7. 이러한 조사 결과는 정전기 발생에 관하는 한 혼방사작업에 문제점으로 될 것이다. 8. 또한 견직물 가공에 임해서도 정전기 대전압이 가공으로 인해 증가할 것이라는 문제를 잊어서는 안 된다.

메탈릭 자카드 직물 물리적 성능평가 (Physical Performance of Metallic Jacquard Fabrics)

  • The purposes of this study are to evaluate physical performance of metallic Jacquard fabrics, and to contribute to the research and development of the women's suit made of the metallic Jacquard fabrics. First, eight fabrics were woven with two kinds of warp yarns(nylon and rayon) and weft yarn blended with various contents(0, 7, 14, 21%) of metallic yarn. Second, the mechanical properties were measured by using the KES-FB system, and physical properties such as tensile strength, tearing strength, abrasion resistance, drape, pilling, snagging, degree of crease resistance, flexural stiffness, specular gloss, folding endurance and electrostatic propensity were measured. The results were as follows. As the metal fiber content increased, bending, shear, thickness and weight increased, which imply low recovery of wrinkles. It means that metallic Jacquard fabrics enable to use as a memory fabric. 7% metallic Jacquard fabric showed a low value at total hand value, but there was little change. As the metal fiber content increased, tensile strength, tearing strength, drape coefficient, specular gloss and flexural stiffness increased, however the degree of crease resistance, electrostatic propensity and folding endurance decreased. The metallic Jacquard fabrics were excellent in snagging, abrasion resistance and pilling.

가연성가스에 대한 정전기 대전방지복의 정전기 위험성 평가 (Hazard analysis for electrostatic of Electrostatic removing wear about combustible gas)

  • 가연성가스의 정전기 대전방지복에 대한 정전기 위험성 평가결과 사용기간에 따라 대전압이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 그러나 대전전하량은 정전기 대전 방지복의 기준치인 0.6$\mu$C 이하였다. 대전압이 증가하는 원인은 일반섬유의 부플음 현상 및 기타 현상 때문으로 판단된다. 또한, 제전 방한복 ('96)의 대전전하량은 0.82$\mu$C로 화재$\cdot$폭발 가능성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이에 대한 개선 및 관리대책이 요구된다.
