  • We investigate solar flare occurrence rate and daily flare probability depending on McIntosh sunspot classification, its area, and its area change. For this we use the NOAA active region and GOES solar flare data for 15 years (from January 1996 to December 2010). We consider the most flare-productive 10 sunspot classification: 'Dko', 'Dai', 'Eai', 'Fai', 'Dki', 'Dkc', 'Eki', 'Ekc', 'Fki', and 'Fkc'. Sunspot area and its change can be a proxy of magnetic flux and its emergence/cancellation, respectively. we classify each sunspot group into two sub-groups: 'Large' and 'Small'. In addition, for each group, we classify it into three sub-groups according to sunspot group area change: 'Decrease', 'Steady', and 'Increase'. As a result, in the case of compact groups, their flare occurrence rates and daily flare probabilities noticeably increase with sunspot group area. We also find that the flare occurrence rates and daily flare probabilities for the 'Increase' sub-groups are noticeably higher than those for the other sub-groups. In case of the (M+X)-class flares of 'Dkc' group, the flare occurrence rate of the 'Increase' sub-group is three times higher than that of the 'Steady' sub-group. Mean flare occurrence rates and flare probabilities for all sunspot regions increase with the following order: 'Steady', 'Decrease', and 'Increase'. Our results statistically demonstrate that magnetic flux and its emergence enhance major solar flare occurrence. We are going to forecast solar flares based on these results and NOAA scale.

  • This study analyzed hierarchy of image for visual evaluation of flare skirt. This study analyzed expression words about flare skirt with frequency data of image expression words with different length and volume of flare. Stimuli for the study were set to be 4 different volume of flare ($90^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$, $270^{\circ}$, $360^{\circ}$) and 3 different length of skirt(48cm, 58cm, 68cm). Stimuli were made by using I-Designer which is Virtual Sewing System. From simulation of flare skirt, the subjects were asked to write down suggested adjective freely and selected 210 adjectives. With this, we chose total 38 adjectives considering frequencies in the pre-study. And we analyzed the combination process of expression words according to construction factor of flare skirt and hierarchy of image from dendrogram which was resulted by hierarchical cluster analysis. 'Feminine' got high score in all 12 flare skirt. When the skirt was short, it was vivid, and as the skirt got longer, ordinary and pure image showed. Also, as the volume of flare got larger, the average of visual effect was higher than visual image. Visual hierarchy construction according to construction factors of flare skirt could be divided into visual image and visual effect, and visual image was shown to be form 'A type - large volume of flare and short skirt length', 'H type-small volume of flare and short skirt length' and 'X type - large volume of flare and long skirt length'.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the differences of visual image by variations in the volume of flare and the length of flare skirt. The stimuli are 12 samples: 4 variations of volume of flare and 3 variations of the length of skirt. The data has been obtained from 181 fashion design majors. The data has been analyzed by Factor Analysis, ANOVA, Scheffe's Test and the MCA method. The results of the study are as follows: The visual image by the volume of flare and the length of flare skirt are composed of 4 factors : matureness, attractiveness, stiffness and softness, moderateness. In these factors, matureness is estimated by the most important factor. When the volume of flare is $180^{\circ}$, the visual images are shown to be better. As the skirt gets shorter, it has more vivid and attractive image. And as the skirt gets longer, it looks older and gentle but not too plain or ordinary. The volume of flare and skirt length interact with each other in matureness and attractiveness factors. But the volume of flare affects more in stiffness and softness and moderateness factors than skirt length.

  • A literature review and survey were conducted regarding the silhouette changes in bell bottom pants and the overall visual evaluation in accordance with the changes. The survey was disseminated from December 2015 to January 2016 to 245 women in their 20s living in Busan. The variables used for the silhouette changes in bell bottom pants were the volume of flare and the flare's starting point, and 20 pairs of terms were selected for visual evaluation. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Visual evaluations according to the volume of flare in bell bottoms indicated that females in their 20s appraised pants with a flare volume of 54 cm close to a straight silhouette and flare volume of 62 cm (recognized clearly as characteristic of bell bottom pants) to be more attractive and sophisticated than pants with flare volumes of 70 cm and 78 cm. 2.Visual evaluations according to the starting point of the flare in bell bottom pants showed that women appraised their legs as looking thinner when the flare started near the thighs. In a vertical visual evaluation, women appraised that their legs looked longer when the flare started near the knees and pants fit tightly around them. 3.The analysis of silhouette factors affecting the visual evaluation of bell bottom pants indicated that the volume of flare has more effect visually than the starting point of the flare.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the incidence of flare-ups among patients who received endodontic treatment and to examine the correlation with pre-operative and operative variables. Analysis was in two aspects (a) overall incidence of flare-ups as expressed by a percentage of all patients visits and (b) percentage of flare-ups that occurred as related to various factors suck as patient demo-graphics, diagnosis, and treatment procedures. 1. From the 840 teeth which were examined in this study, the total number of flare-ups was 13. 2. As to gender of patients, there was no significant difference in flare-ups. 3. As to tooth groups, there was no significant difference in flare-ups. 4. In the teeth with pre-operative symptom, there was a statistically significant higher incidence of flare-ups than the teeth without it. 5. In the teeth with apical periodontitis, there was a statistically significant higher incidence of flare-ups. 6. As to pulp and periapical status. non-vital teeth had a higher incidence as compared with vital teeth, irreversible pulpitis. 7. Multi-visit treatment resulted in the higher incidence of flare-ups than one visit treatment. 8. Re-treatment procedures had a statistically significant higher incidence of flare-ups than root canal treatment. In this study, overall percentages of flare-ups was $1.55\%$. It showed a statistically significant higher incidence related to pre-operative symptom, apical periodontitis, and re-treatment. There was no significant difference in flare-ups related to gender, tooth groups, and fistula.

  • The purpose of this study was to detect the effect of the lower body type on the shape of flare skirts. The subjects for the wearing test were 50 female students, who were controlled in their hip and waist shapes. The skirts used for wearing test were six types(three flar angles $\times$ two fabric types). The effect of lower body type on the shape of flare skirts was determind by the hemline trace method and the silhouette photography. The data were then analyzed by the repeated measures of analysis of variance and the SNK multiple range test. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1) When a flare skirt made with larger flare angle and better drapable fabric was worn, the numeric of the nodes increased as the drop value(hip - waist) increased. When a flare skirt made with smaller flare angle was worn, the width of horizontal sectio of hemline increased as the drop value increased. The hemline uneveness decreased on the sides and back as the drop value increased. When a flare skirt made with worse drapable fabric was worn, the sides angle of the flarskirt increased as the drop value increased. 2) When a flare skirt made with larger flare angle was worn, the numeric of nodes increased as the ratio of dropped hip increased. The wave-height increased and the back variation ratio of wave-height was higher than the front variation ratio of wave-height as the ratio of dropped hip increased. The hemiline uneveness decreased on the back as the ratio of dropped hip increased. When a flare skirt made with larger flare angle was worn, the sides angle of the flare skirt increased as the ratio of dropped hip increased.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop semantic differential scales which are necessary to evaluate visual image and effect of flare skirt. As a result of the first survey of 362 female college students, the most effective factors for shape of flare skirt are silhouette, volume of flare, and skirt length. Based on this result, we made flare skirt simulation for visual evaluation with using I-Designer program. 4 kinds of volume of flare($90^{\circ},\;180^{\circ},\;270^{\circ},\;360^{\circ}$) and 3 kinds of skirt length(48cm, 58cm, 68cm) are combined as variables for flare skirt of visual evaluation. For the second survey of 362 female college students, we asked to write suggested adjectives freely. As a result, we could draw out 210 adjectives. 'Feminine' was most frequently used word for flare skirt, and then, 'vivid', 'rhythmic', 'cute', 'soft', 'fat', and 'comfortable' in this order. With considering frequently used words in the preceding study, we selected 41 adjectives. Antonyms were selected from the resulted frequency of this study and preceding study, and the rest of words were found from dictionary. From these process, we developed semantic differential scales for visual image and effect of flare skirt.

  • Proper motion of sunspots in several active regions was studied to detect their indicator on flare onset, using data from the Solar Flare Telescope at Mitaka (four flaring active regions), TRACE (e.g. NOAA 0424, M1.7 flare on 5 Aug. 2003) and Hinode (e.g. NOAA 10930, X3.4 flare on 13 Dec. 2006). The proper motion of individual sunspots was derived using a local correlation tracking method. As a result, we found that the sunspots that are located under or close to a part of chromospheric flaring patches showed a change in their moving direction prior to the flare onset. The change in their movements took place a half to two hours before the flare onset. On the other hand, sunspots in non-flaring areas or non-flaring active regions did not show this kind of change. It is likely, therefore, that if a sunspot shows the particular movement, a chromospheric flare is to occur in its nearby region. In the most active regions, the part of flare ribbons was located on an emerging bipolar pair of sunspots. The disturbance in the usual motion of the bipolar sunspots and in other sunspots as well can be interpreted as a sign of magnetic shear development leading to final magnetic energy buildup before its sudden release. We suggest that the change in sunspot motion in a short time scale prior to the flare onset can be regarded as a good indicator in predicting the onset timing and location of chromospheric flares.

  • A white light flare was observed at the limb on 16 August 1989 in He 10830 ${\AA}$ spectra, H$\alpha$ slit jaw photo-grams, and white light filter-grams of ${\lambda}=5600{\AA}{\pm}800{\AA}$. The kernels of the white light flare are not spatially related with Ha brightenings, suggesting that the flare energy would be released at the photosphere.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the optimal shape of the brake tube-end and flare nut for automobiles using the $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$, finite element code. A flare nut is a small and important part used to join a brake tube-end in automobiles. In this instance, we studied the optimal forging processes for the tube-end and flare nut. Finite element analysis has been carried out to predict an optimal shape of the tube-end and flare nut. Also the simulation results were reflected to the forging processes design for the tube-end and flare nut. The shape of the tube-end and flare nut is in agreement with the finite element simulation and the test results.
