  • This paper proposed character recognition method by using DB Matching and Artificial Neural Network at the Gerber files. Gerber files are file for make PCB. But we also use the file to a program of extraction PCB position data. If the Gerber file recognized a character, the extraction PCB position data will be faster and also when the recognition rate is high, it can be possible to automatic extraction. We apply to the construction PCB Gerber file program and Simulation results are presented to verify the usefulness of the method.

  • We propose character recognition system for Gerber files. The Gerber file is the vector-formatted drawing file for PCB manufacturing. To consider the special vector format and rotated characters, we develop segmentation and feature extraction method. The modularized neural network is then applied to the recognition algorithm. Finally, comparative simulation results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • Image training is a very important yet difficult state for automated visual inspection using computers. Because the size of parts for the recently produced PCB (Printed Circuit Board) becomes smaller and circuit patterns gradually become more complex, a difficult and complex training process is becoming a big problem within an industry where development cycle for new products is short and various products must be inspected. This research produced a reference image by using CAD (Gerber) file which becomes a standard for PCB automatic visual inspection. Reference image from a Gerber file guarantees PCB patterns with no defects. Through system implementation and experimentation, Gerber file is used in order to propose a plan which allows an easy training process for PCB automatic visual inspection system.

  • For the PCB inspection by computer vision, in some cases, the MRLC file should prepared. The MRLC file contains a RLC(Run Length Code) and a direction flag. In this paper, a generating method of MRLC is described. It is composed of two procedure as followings; (i) rasterizing Gerber file which is a vectorized image of PCB panel, and (ii) calculating a MRLC that is useful for the inspection as a template image. The suggested procedures are written in C-language and executable on Windows 95 and Windows NT.

  • We propose the character recognition system for Gerber files. The Gerber file is the vector-formatted drawing file for PCB manufacturing, which includes various symbols, figures and characters. Also, the characters are written in horizontal, vertical, and reverse-vortical directions. In this paper, we newly propose the Gerber-character recognition system to recognize all of component names located in PCB. To improve the performance, we develop the multiple recognizers by neural networks and the verifier considering the structural features. The developed system has been installed to the auto-programming software for PCB assembly and inspection machines.

  • In this paper, 2D and 3D inspection algorithm for printed solder on PCB is introduced. The aim of inspection is the detection of error such as rich solder poor solder and missing solder. For Inspection, laser distance sensor is used. For 2D inspection, laser image that is created by normalizing laser data between 0 and 255 are used. Reference Image is made using gerber file. Image processing algorithm is used for 2D inspection. By adding thickness of metal stencil to laser image, volume for solder can be calculated and 3D inspection is carried out.

  • Stencil is used normally as a mask for solder pasting on pad of a printed circuit board (PCB). The objective of this study is to develop a stencil cutting system and determine the optimal conditions to make good-quality stencil by using a Nd:YAG laser. The effects of process parameters such as laser power, type of mask, gas pressure, cutting speed and pulse duration on the cut edge quality were investigated. In order to analyze the cut surface characteristics (roughness, kerfwidth, dross) optical microscopy, SEM microscopy and roughness measurements were used. As a result, the optimal conditions of cutting process parameters were determined, and the practical feasibility of the proposed system was also examined by using a commercial Gerber file for PCB stencil manufacturing.

  • In this paper, we develop the system which inspects the metal mask using area scan camera and belu type xy-table and introduce its inspection algorithm. Thes whole area of the metal mask is divides into several inspection block and the sixe of a inspection block is decided by FOV(Field of View). To compare with the camera image of each block, the reference image is made by gerber file. The ratation angle of the metal mask is calculated through the linear equation that is substituted two end points of horizontal boundary of a specific hole in a camera image for. To calculate the position error caused by belt type xy-table, hough-transform using the distances among the holes in two images os used. The center of the reference image is moved as much as the calculated position error to be coincide with the camera image ...

  • This paper designed and manufactured a chip mounter based on 3D printer technology that can be used for educational research or sample production to disseminate chip mounter, a core technology of SMT line. A stepper motor with open loop control is used for low cost drive design. The shortcomings of the motor's vibration and disassembly caused by the use of the step motor were compensated by the Micro-Step control method. In the chip mounter experiment, the gerber file was generated on the small chip mounter, printed at the actual size, and the solder cream was printed on the HASL-treated PCB in the same manner as the sample board fabrication. As a result of the experiment, unlike the 2012 micro components, parts such as SOIC and TQFP that require correction are twice as long as the component mounting time, but it can be confirmed that they are mounted relatively accurately. In addition, as a result of repeatedly measuring the error of the initial position 10 times, it was confirmed that a relatively small error of about 0.110mm occurs.
