Design and Simulation of Active Power Filter (전력 능동 필터의 설계 및 시뮬레이션)

  • This paper presents the harmonics rejection technique and the simulation of a active power filter using power operational amplifier. The proposed active power filter consists of CT(current transformer), harmonics detector and harmonics amplifier. The harmonics detector is a high pass filter using a GIC(Generalized Impedance Converter). The harmonics amplifier consists of a power operational amplifier and passive filters. The simulation has been implemented by OR-CAD program. It is examined whether the proposed active power filter can be realized or not through simple experiments.

  • This paper considers the method of elimination harmonics in AC/DC converters, There are few practical methods to reduce the harmonics in AC/DC converters, particularly in filter design and control strategy. In this paper, a harmonic elimination methods are proposed, which includes hybrid PWM control strategy. These methods achieve precise output control along with the optimum performance simultaneously. The control method in this paper is developed to eliminate a fixed number of harmonics in AC to DC converter. The higher order harmonics can be easily eliminated by using filter proposed in this paper. The validity of these methods is confirmed experimentally.

  • The first and second harmonics have been measured in the iron whisker with the axial current that produces a circular field. The observed harmonics profiles have been discussed in terms of theoretical analysis based on the nonlinear, asymmetric magnetization that are related to the nucleation, transformation and annihilation of domains. The change of second harmonics profile is more sensitive to the domain variation than that of first harmonics.

Generalized techniques of harmonics elimination in thyristor AC chopper (싸이리스터 AC chopper의 고주파제법에 관한 연구)

  • A generalized theroretical method is developed to eliminate a given number of harmonics in AC chopper output waves. The results show that halfwave symmetric and sinusoidal symmetric chopping are required to eliminate all even numbers of harmonics and , at least, M+1 times per half cycle chopping is required to eliminate any M odd number of harmonics in the given effective value of the output wave.

  • The mechanical vibration of a PM synchronous motor at low speeds due to the back emf harmonics may be serious problems in some application such as MDPS(Motor driven power steering), electric vehicles. In this paper, torque ripple reduction for an interior PM synchronous motor including back emf harmonics is proposed. The dq flux linkage harmonics of the permanent magnet are estimated on real time by using the dq currents of the real system and the model of the MRAS observer. Based on the estimated flux linkage harmonics, the dq harmonic currents for reducing the torque ripples are compensated on the dq reference currents. The estimation of the flux linkage harmonics by the MRAS observer and the torque ripple reduction of the proposed algorithm was verified by the simulation and experiment.

  • In this crankshaft of marine diesel engines the exciting torques are produced by gas pressure and reciprocating masses. These torques are periodically changing and are extremely out of balance. To calculate the torsional vibrations of propulsion shafting caused by unbalanced torque the torque harmonics are utilized. Until now to calculate the torsional vibrations of propulsion shafting. the torque harmonics have been supplied by the engine maker. When the torque harmonics of an engine are not available the torque harmonics of a similar engine type had to be used. However such data is not suitable for the reliable calculations of torsional vibrations. In this paper the combustion characteristics of marine diesel engines including $\rho{-}\upsilon$ diagram are investigated and the torque harmonics based on these are theoretically calculated. reliability of the calculations is confirmed by comparing them with those of an engine maker. This study should prove useful for the calculations of torsional vibrations for diesel engine propulsion shafting. particularly for 4-stroke engines whose torque harmonics are difficult to obtain directly from the engine and not ordinarily supplied by the engine maker.

  • To analysis the effect by the Harmonics through Power facilities in Apartment housing, This paper measured the Harmonics at Lighting Transformer, Power Transformer and Services-entrance Conductors of electrical installation in apartment housing. The measured result is following as : 1) The Harmonics at Lighting Transformer is generated in the large of the 5th Harmonics. 2) The Harmonics at Power Transformer is generated in the large of the 5th and 7th Harmonics. And then 3) The THD at the Services-entrance Conductors is average 2.4[%], which is compared to the measuring Voltage, this meaning value is good condition until now against Harmonics effect. But, So the large capacitance of household electrical alliances with rectifiers in the future considered the effect of Harmonics at the Electric Power planning in apartment Housing.

  • This paper presents the result of survey of case study for Harmonics in electrical Installations of buildings. Recently, many power electronic equipments(power converter, computers, air conditioners electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps and so on) are used in office buildings, and harmonic current from them influence the other equipments in a distribution line. Notably, voltage distortion or voltage harmonics may approach or exceed is allowable level in power distribution system. Individual electric power consumers and end-users and responsible for reducing current harmonics while companies or utilities are responsible for reducing voltage harmonics at the point of common coupling in distribution system. As for harmonics, which one of the electric power qualities, it becomes important to obtain harmonic voltage/current distribution of the power system precisely because the use of power electronic apparatus in increasing. However, there are some difficulties on evaluating the measured data in comparison with the simulated result. The primary cause was indentitied with the resonance of harmonics form many sources. To suppress harmonics in electrical installations of buildings, one of many methods suggest that resonance frequencies are controlled by modulating the capacities of high-voltage customer's capacitors.

  • This paper analyzed harmonics from high speed railway traction to high speed railway substation and provide a reduction method of harmonics using the passive filter. A substation supplies the electric power to a train or can supply the electric power to several trains. According to the number of trains covered by a substation, characteristics of harmonics are investigated. These harmonics affect transformer heating and inductive interference. In order to get rid of the damage from the harmonics, this paper presented minimizing method of harmonics. The proposed method is verified in simulation using the PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • According to the development of power switching device technology, the power conversion system is used from the small electric power units to the large industrial instruments. These instruments are operated as harmonic sources in the grid and the harmonics cause zero sequence harmonics in the neutral line. To reduce zero sequence harmonics, the zigzag transformer is used conventionally. But the zigzag transformer can reduce only 60~70% of harmonics. In this paper, hybrid power filter for zero sequence harmonics reduction and the harmonic detection method are proposed.
