  • In this paper, we consider hierarchical Bayes generalized linear models for the analysis of longitudinal count data. Specifically we introduce the hierarchical Bayes random effects models. We discuss implementation of the Bayes procedures via Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) integration techniques. The hierarchical Baye method is illustrated with a real dataset and is compared with other statistical methods.

  • For estimating the error variance under the relative squared error loss in two-way analysis of variance models, we provide a class of hierarchical Bayes estimators and then derive a subclass of the hierarchical Bayes estimators, each member of which dominates the best multiple of the error sum of squares which is known to be minimax. We also identify a subclass of non-minimax hierarchical Bayes estimators.

  • The goal of this article is to study the performances of various empirical Bayes simultaneous interval estimates for all pairwise comparisons. The considered empirical Bayes interval estimaters are those based on unbiased estimate, a hierarchical Bayes estimate and a constrained hierarchical Bayes estimate. Simulation results for small sample cases are given and an illustrative example is also provided.

  • We propose a class of hierarchical Bayes estimators of the error variance under the relative squared error loss in balanced fixed-effects two-way analysis of variance models. Also we provide analytic expressions for the risk improvement of the hierarchical Bayes estimators over multiples of the error sum of squares. Using these expressions we identify a subclass of the hierarchical Bayes estimators each member of which dominates the best multiple of the error sum of squares which is known to be minimax. Numerical values of the percentage risk improvement are given in some special cases.

  • In the problem of estimating a vector of unknown regression coefficients under the sum of squared error losses in a hierarchical linear model, we propose the hierarchical Bayes estimator of a vector of unknown regression coefficients in a hierarchical linear model, and then prove the admissibility of this estimator using Blyth's (196\51) method.

  • This paper considers Bayes estimations of the small area means under Fay-Herriot model with measurement errors. We provide empirical Bayes predictors of small area means with the corresponding jackknifed mean squared prediction errors. Also we obtain hierarchical Bayes predictors and the corresponding posterior standard deviations using Gibbs sampling. Numerical studies are provided to illustrate our methods and compare their eciencies.

  • In the problem of estimating the error variance in the balanced fixed- effects one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) model, Ghosh (1994) proposed hierarchical Bayes estimators and raised a conjecture for which all of his hierarchical Bayes estimators are admissible. In this paper we prove this conjecture is true by representing one-way ANOVA model to the distributional form of a multiparameter exponential family.

  • In this paper, we consider a hierarchical Bayes estimation of the parameter, the reliability and hazard rate function based on type-II censored samples from a Rayleigh failure model. Bayes calculations can be implemented easily by means of the Gibbs sampler. A numerical study is provided.

  • In this paper, we consider the simultaneous estimation problem for the normal means. We set up the model structure using the several different distributions of the errors for observing their effects of model perturbation for the error terms in obtaining the empirical Bayes and hierarchical Bayes estimators. We compare the performance of those estimators under model perturbation based on a simulation study.

  • Hierarchical Bayes estimations of exchangeable mean vector of a multivariate Poisson distribution are obtained. Since sophiscated analytic integration procedures are needed, the Laplace method is employed in order tocompute these estimations approximately. An example is presented.
