  • The advent of digitalisation has transformed economies into more integrated, but increasingly complex systems. This new trend has brought dynamic changes in the manufacturing sector through advanced ICT infrastructure, smart factories, digitally-controlled logistics, and skilled ICT-labour. The impacts of the digital economy on manufacturing could be best illustrated through "Industry 4.0." With this wave of technological advancement, countries aim to establish an industrial ecosystem where every manufacturing process and function is connected and interacts through digital networks. Industry 4.0 presents opportunities for Emerging Asia, as the region has emerged as a fast-growing manufacturing hub and particularly a production base for ICT goods. However, growing production capacity, increased exports, and increases in FDI in the field of ICT goods manufacturing have so far contributed little to the development and diffusion of ICT. A huge gap exists in the ICT uptake amongst countries and between small and large firms. This paper highlights the level of Industry 4.0 readiness of Emerging Asia and key factors that determine its enhancement.

  • The research purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the effects of technological readiness and innovation on logistics performance. To build up and maintain an important role in global supply chains, nowadays it is obvious that countries and logistics providers need to achieve competitive advantage in terms of digitalization. However, there is a lack of empirical studies about the impacts of information technologies and innovation potential on the logistics efficiency of countries. Hence, the study analyzes whether the corresponding pillars of the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) matter for the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and its dimensions. For determining the effects, the pooled regression approach is applied. The results show that technological readiness and innovation are positively and statistically significantly correlated with logistics performance: competence and quality of logistics services, efficiency of customs clearance processes, ability to track and trace consignments, frequency with which shipments reach consignee within scheduled or expected time, and ease of arranging competitively priced shipments. The findings of this study suggest that investments in innovations and technology progress improve countries' logistics efficiency, which is an important prerequisite for enabling Logistics 4.0 and thus, Industry 4.0 and the digital transformation of the economy and society.

  • In this study, clustering analysis was performed to find out the influence of the maturity level of Industry 4.0 of SMEs in Korea, index factors of clustering, and major factors on the self-evaluation of companies. When 80 domestic SMEs were classified into 4 categories, it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between process, technology and organization. In addition, the majority of the 80 companies tested according to the maturity model appear to be immature or partially mature, and many improvements and re-evaluation of innovation strategies related to Industry 4.0 are needed. Finally, it was concluded that the Singapore Smart Industry Readiness Index is suitable for conducting self-assessment in domestic SMEs. These conclusions can serve as useful maturity and grouping guidelines for practitioners and researchers.

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the recognition, readiness, and awareness of the need for education in the era of the 4th industrial revolution among dental technology students in the healthcare field, and to provide essential data for the development of a future-oriented curriculum. Methods: A survey of 260 students, who were briefed about the purpose of this study, was conducted at D University and G University, located in Daejeon and Gangwon-do, South Korea, respectively. A total of 229 questionnaires, excluding 31 with insufficient responses, were analyzed. Results: 1. Recognition of the 4th industrial revolution was 3.43±0.77, preparedness was 2.91±0.84, and awareness of the need for education was 3.86±0.80. 2. Major satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on concept recognition and impact recognition of the 4th industrial revolution, readiness level, and the need for education (p<0.001). Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an education program on specialized skills (professional knowledge) related to the 4th industrial revolution, and to implement such a program that serves the educational needs of individual groups.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of interest in the elderly job project and resilience in the relationship between social support and retirement readiness of the MZ·X generation. This survey conducted reliability and frequency analysis, t/f-verification, descriptive statistical analysis, and analysis of reliability and frequency using SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 27.0 programs on the collected data of 359 MZ and X generations of G, Y, and A cities in D and G provinces. Analysis was performed using correlation analysis and structural relationship statistics. As a result of the study, first, it was found that there was a significant correlation between the level of interest in the employment project for the elderly, social support, resilience and readiness for old age. Second, in the relationship between social support and retirement readiness, the degree of interest and resilience of the elderly job project were partially mediated. Therefore, in order to increase the MZ and X generations' interest in and resilience in the job projects for the elderly, the provision of emotional, evaluative, informational, and material support systems as a social support system and the elderly in government agencies such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family A realistic policy of job business policy is needed.
