본 연구는 국내 공공도서관의 장서개발정책을 위하여 장서평가 방법을 실증적 데이터에 적용함으로서 그 활용 가능성을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 서울시 광진정보도서관의 최근 10년간 장서대출 데이터를 활용하여 도서관 장서평가 방법 중에서 가장 신뢰성이 높은 Bonn의 이용계수, 소장도서 장서회전율과 Trueswell의 80/20 법칙을 적용하였다. 분석내용은 소장도서의 전체적 분석과 주제별 분석으로 장서평가에 대한 실질적인 가치와 의미를 부여하도록 하였다. 주요 분석항목으로는 연도별로 소장도서 전체 및 주제별 이용도 분석과 연도별로 대출 핵심장서의 비중 분석으로 구성되어 있다. 분석 결과, 장서 전체 이용도와 주제별 이용도의 변화를 분석함으로써 도서관에서 수행된 업무와 이용도 간의 관련성을 파악할 수 있으며, 장서대출 데이터 분석으로 이용자들의 장서 이용패턴에 대한 변화와 도서관 프로그램에 대한 지역주민의 평가를 파악할 수 있다. 아울러 대출도서 핵심장서의 비중 분석을 통하여 효과적인 수서정책을 위한 근거자료를 제시할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to identify the degree to which the card catalog in a university library serves its users and to provide useful information for the design of conversion from card catalog to online catalog. From August 19th to September 16th 1995, 278 users of Duksung Women's University Library were randomley selected and surveyed in terms of card catalog use, success rate of card searching, and catalog use training received. Major findings are as follows: 1. Taking into considerations the fact that Library users tended to use more heavily oriental card catalog$(61.8\%)$ than western card catalog$(8.3\%)$ or classification card catalog$(26.3\%)$, oriental card catalog should be designed to improve its search function of the catalog. 2. It was found that the university library card catalog was not easy to use by $49.3\%$ of the users of Duksung University Library. 3. One of main reasons why the card catalog is hard to use is that there is no subject card to which users can access for subject searching. Besides, users have difficulties in locating appropriate classification numbers for subjects which users are interested in. 4. When success rate is defined as finding appropriate cards in catalog boxes, the success rate was reported to be $87.0\%$. 5. The major access points of known items which library users utilized mostly were author$(18.3\%)$ and title$(74.5\%)$. 6. In case of translated versions of foreign materials, original author name cards instead of pronounced original name card written in Korean were given to them as access points. $79.9\%$ of library users of Duksung Women's University insisted that both original and pronounced author name writ':en in Korean should be given as access points to foreign authors for the sake of user's convenience. 7. Formal training programs for card catalog use were found not to be sufficient. Small group informal training courses should be offered to users who need to get information for catalog use by library staffs. 8. Considering the trend that orders of access points have been changed from title, author and subject in card catalog to title, keyword, and author in online catalog, the existing card catalog of Duksung Women's University is expected not to meet future users' needs for subject searching unless the funcions of subject searching of catalog is improved.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the case of 'drive-thru' services newly introduced and tried in libraries in Korea under the influence of COVID-19, and to develop and propose a service model so that this service can be continuously applied to all libraries in the future. Therefore, the method of study was selected and analyzed by selecting one of the representative libraries that provide related services in Seoul Special City, Incheon Metropolitan City, and Anyang City of Gyeonggi Province. In addition, a focus group interview was conducted with twelve people in charge to find a way to apply the drive-thru service to the library. As a result, the library's drive-thru service is a way to fulfill the library's original purpose of providing information materials while minimizing faceto-face contact with users. It was concluded that it is a suitable method for a library of complex buildings, where there is a lack of parking space. In addition, it was deduced that it may be one of the ways to use the library efficiently for office workers who are unable to use library services during the opening hours. Therefore, if the drive-thru service is implemented according to the developed model, it is expected to increase the library visit rate and data utilization rate.

본 연구는 기계적 품질계수 개념을 도입하여 온라인자료에 적합한 컨스펙터스 운영모형을 개발하기 위한 것이다. 온라인자료의 주제별 소장율, 이용율, 검색율 등 자료활용행태에 관한 정보를 토대로 주제별 기계적 품질계수를 산출한 후 이를 기존의 컨스펙터스의 주제별 집서수준에 반영하는 방식으로 운영할 것을 제안하였다. 그 결과 이용율이 높은 기술과학과 검색율이 높은 역사와 사회과학 등 주제의 집서수준을 대폭 상향조정하고 여타주제들은 현행유지 또는 하향조정 되어야 하는 것으로 나타났다.

본 연구의 목적은 이용자의 스마트폰 무선신호를 이용하여 이용자가 공공도서관 공간을 어떻게 이용하는지에 대한 이용행태를 분석하는 것이다. 공간이용 데이터를 수집하는 방법으로 이용자의 스마트폰 무선신호를 감지하여 이용자의 동선을 추적하였고 수집된 데이터를 로데이터로 하여 추가적인 분석을 진행하였다. 서울시내 한 구립도서관에서 4개월 동안 수집된 이용자 공간이용 데이터를 분석한 결과, 전월 대비 평균 37.9%의 이용자들이 익월에도 이용을 하는 것으로 나타났고 이용자 중의 50%는 7분 미만으로 도서관에 머무는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 도서관을 이용하는 시간을 분석한 결과, 오후 2-3시 사이에 이용자들이 가장 많았으며 주말 오후 5시 이후에는 이용자가 매우 적게 나타났다. 층간 공간이동을 분석한 결과, 서가가 위치한 3층과 4층 사이의 공간이동이 유사하게 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 스마트폰 무선신호를 이용한 도서관 공간이용행태를 분석하는 방법론이 기존에 주로 사용되었던 관찰을 통한 분석보다 효과적임을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 향후 도서관 공간이용 분석에 적극 활용된다면 도서관 공간운영의 활용성을 높일 것으로 기대된다.

This study is to evaluate the economies of scale of the public libraries in metropolitan cities. The results of the regression analysis confirm that for all samples of libraries there is diseconomies of scale in library operations (${\Sigma}b_{n}$≒6.14∼10.91). Therefore, all the types of public libraries should be improve productivity by user-based collection development, increasing circulation turnover rate, activation of in-library use, strengthening mobile library services, rational planning of services area, development of reading programs connected with the curriculum, a new branch library plans, etc.

This study was carried out to examine the awareness and use of social media tools by library and information professionals (LIPs) in selected academic libraries in South-west, Nigeria and the challenges they face in the use of social media technologies. Descriptive survey was adopted for this study. The population of the study comprised 217 library and information professionals from 10 selected academic libraries in south-west, Nigeria. A total enumeration technique was used to cover all the library and information professionals, 136 respondents filled and returned the questionnaire, given a response rate of 62.7%. The questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data collected. The findings show that majority of LIPs possessed a high level of awareness in the use of social media tools. The study also revealed that social network tools were highly used by LIPs in the academic libraries studied and the types of social media used by LIPs was also revealed. The major challenges faced in the use of social media include inadequate power supply, lack of Internet access and time constraints. The paper recommended that to enhance the use of social media by LIPs, there is need for constant awareness of the importance of social media tools to LIPs and libraries in effective service delivery, LIPs should be ready to learn, unlearn and be learned in the use of social media and university libraries should provide enabling environment such as internet connectivity, power supply and policy to guide LIPs in social media usage.

본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관 이용자의 도서관 이용행태를 분석하여 대학도서관 공간 활용의 효율성을 제고하는 데 있다. 도서관 이용행태를 분석하기 위해 본 연구는 이용자들이 직접 자신들의 행동을 기록하는 다이어리 기법을 이용했다. 총 108명이 참여를 했고 이들 중 84명이 다이어리를 작성했다. 제출된 다이어리 중 내용을 충실히 작성한 14명의 참여자와 도서관 이용행태, 이용시 문제점 및 요구사항 등에 대한 인터뷰를 진행했다. 다이어리와 인터뷰 분석결과, 공간계획 측면에서 이용되지 않은 공간이나 기기들의 이용률 향상을 위한 방안마련과 서가 브라우징을 통한 정보접근 향상을 위한 방법을 제안했다. 또한 도서관 이용시간 분석을 통해 학생들의 이용행태 및 이용률 제고 방안을 논의했다.

본 연구는 병영도서관 이용자의 인식 및 이용 행태, 만족도, 그리고 '진중문고'의 활용성 등을 조사함으로서 병영도서관 서비스의 현황과 장병들의 독서 증진 및 병영도서관 이용 활성화 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 육군, 해군, 공군 병영도서관 이용자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과, 장병들은 새로운 지식 및 정보를 얻고 교양을 쌓기 위하여 독서를 한다는 응답이 가장 높았으며, 선호하는 독서 분야는 일반소설, 시, 만화, 무협지 및 판타지 소설 등의 순으로 나타났다. 군부대 내에서 장병들의 독서를 장려하기 위해서는 병영도서관 장서의 다양함과 양적 확충이 가장 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 장병들은 소설, 시, 입시 및 취업 대비서 등에 대한 도서의 확충을 가장 희망하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 병영도서관의 이용률과 독서에 대한 관심을 높이기 위해서는 장병들의 병영도서관 및 도서에 대한 접근성 및 도서관 이용 시간 확대 방안 등의 필요성이 제기되었다.

This study purposed to discover whether or not academic libraries reflect these changing roles. We selected K University as the research target and surveyed user satisfaction of materials, staff services, facilities, electronic devices, media, and so on. The research findings are as follows: 1) the frequency of library visits of University K was on the high side, 2) the primary purpose of using the academic library was associated with learning or reading, therefore, the most used library spaces were related to that, 3) the most used library materials were 'general books', the most unused were 'reference books', 4) the most preferred way to obtain needed materials when failing to find wanted materials was 'Contact librarian'. A similar phenomenon occurred in terms of facility use, 5) university K's users were usually satisfied with the loan policy, 6) the rate of users who don't know whether there is user education was very high, the rate of users who have no experience with user education was extremely low. These research findings can be referenced by library management to improve libraries' service quality and take advantage of complex spatial configurations.
