The artificial potential field (APF) methods provide simple and efficient motion planners for practical purposes. However, these methods have a local minimum problem, which can trap an object before reaching its goal. The local minimum problem is sometimes inevitable when an object moves in unknown environments, because the object cannot predict local minima before it detects obstacles forming the local minima. The avoidance of local minima has been an active research topic in the potential field based path planing. In this study, we propose a new concept using a virtual obstacle to escape local minima that occur in local path planning. A virtual obstacle is located around local minima to repel an object from local minima. We also propose the discrete modeling method for the modeling of arbitrary shaped objects used in this approach. This modeling method is adaptable for real-time path planning because it is reliable and provides lower complexity.

An efficient and useful method to improve the local stress field in a displacement-formulated finite element solution has been proposed using the theory of conjugate approximations for a stress field and the Loubignac's iterative method for a displacement field. Validity of the proposed method has been tested through three test examples, to improve the stress field and displacement field in the whole domain and the local regions. As a result of analysis on the test examples, it is found that the stress field in the local regions are approximated to those in the whole domain within a few iterations which have satisfied the original finite element equilibrium equation. In addition, it is found that the local stress field are by far better approximated to the exact stress field than the displacement-based stress field with the reduction of the finite-element mesh-size.

The main purpose of the study is to identify the key aspects of legislative support standards in the countries of the European Union in the field of building a system of local self-government. The European Union during the history of its existence has developed a set of standards on which the systems of local self-government of the European Union member states and applicants for this status are built. The complexity and at the same time the importance of legislative regulation of the functioning of this system is evidenced by the fact that the legislation and principles of international law used by the European Union in the field of local self-government are among the "youngest". This is due to the role played by local self-government in the development of a democratic political system, as well as the search for an optimal balance between centralization and decentralization. Thus, the main task of the study is to analyze the legislative support standards in the countries of the European Union in the field of building a system of local self-government. As a result of the study, current trends and prerequisites for the legislative support standards in the countries of the European Union in the field of building a system of local self-government were investigated.

Non-local impact ionization 현상의 해석에 사용될 수 있는 새로운 local model이 제시되었다. 새로운 모델은 임의의 점에서 가상의 선형 전기장과 path integral로 계산되는 유효전기장의 값을 이용한다. 이 모델은 불순물 농도, 전자 및 홀 농도, 전기장의 기울기 둥의 local 변수만을 이용함으로써 기존의 drift-diffusion 소자 시뮬레이터에 쉽게 적용될 수 있다. 결과를 Monte Carlo 시뮬레이션과 비교하여 새로운 모델이 non-local 현상을 잘 설명하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

In order to realize economical applications, it is important to reduce the ac loss of 2G high-temperature superconductor coated conductors. It seems to be reasonable that a multi-filamentary wire can decrease the magnetization loss. In this study, we prepared two samples of YBCO coated conductors with striations. We measured local superconducting properties of both samples by using Low Temperature Scanning Laser and Hall Probe Microscopy (LTSLHPM). The distribution of the local critical temperature of samples was analyzed from experimental results of Low Temperature Scanning Laser Microscopy (LTSLM) near the superconducting transition temperature. According to LTSLM results, spatial distributions of the local critical temperature of both samples are homogeneous. The local current density and the local magnetization in samples were explored from measuring stray fields by using Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM). From SHPM results, the remanent field pattern of the one bridge sample in an external magnetic field confirms the Bean's critical state model and the three bridge sample has similar remanent field pattern of the one bridge sample. The local magnetization curve in the three bridge sample was measured from external fields from -500 Oe to 500 Oe. We visualized that the distribution of local hysteresis loss are related in the distribution of the remanent field of the three bridge sample. Although the field dependence of the critical current density must be taken into account, the relation of the local hysteresis loss and the remanent field from Bean's model was useful.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Age of Air and the Local Air-change Effectiveness of by field measurement. The indexes of Age of Air and Local Air-change Effectiveness are used to analyze the local ventilation effectiveness of multiple locations and are mainly evaluated using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. In this study, measurement of the Local Air-change Effectiveness was based on ASHRAE 129. The performance of Local Air-change Effectiveness and the dependence of the outlet location on Local Air-change Effectiveness were analyzed. The results showed that a greater air-change rate (ACH) may not guarantee better local ventilation effectiveness.

Peninsular Malaysia lying on the stable Sunda Plate has traditionally been considered safe with low to moderate seismicity. However, far field Sumatran mega-earthquakes have been shown to be capable of triggering ground motions felt in high rise structures in the major Malaysian cities while seismic impact from local earthquakes of moment magnitude 3.8 have reportedly induced nominal structural damages to nearby buildings. This paper presents an overview of the recent seismic activities in and around Peninsular Malaysia with reference to prominent earthquakes generated by far field interplate and local intraplate sources. Records of ground motion data and seismic hazard assessment (SHA) results available in the literature have been analyzed and discussed. The peak ground acceleration (PGA) values from historical records for few local intraplate events were observed to be higher than those for the events from Sumatran Subduction Zone. This clearly points to the need for a detailed and comprehensive SHA incorporating both far field and local sources. Such an analysis would contribute the knowledge required for secure and reliable infrastructure design and safeguard the Malaysian people and economy.

In this article, we give an example of local derivation, that is not derivation, on the algebra F(x1,…, xn) of rational functions in x1, …, xn over an infinite field F, and show that if X is a set of symbols and {x1,…, xn} is a finite subset of X, n$\geq$1, then each local derivation of F[x1,…, xn] into F[X] is a F-derivation and each local derivation of F[X] into itself is also a F-derivation.

In this paper, we calculate the four coefficients for the quantum theory of multiwave mixing including a local-field correction resulting from dipole-dipole interactions. We make contact with the semiclassical calculations of probe absorption and four-wave-mixing coupling coefficients, and illustrate the effects of local field corrections on resonance-fluorescence and coupled-mode-fluorescence spectra. The method uses the hybrid quantum-Langevin-equation master-equation approach of An and Sargent.
