  • Superconducting synchronous generators and motors are designed based on 2 dimensional electro-magnetic approach. In the case of generator, if the machine output rating and terminal voltage are decided the armature rating current will be decided automatically according to its power factor. However, in the case of motor, if the output rating is given with [hp] or [kw] units, the armature terminal voltage and current are not decided directly because the machines armature input power and mechanical output are different by way of losses. So in order to calculate the armature current more accurately. the machine losses must be included in the design procedure. In this paper the machine loss of superconducting motor are analyzed and used for decision of the armature input power and current. Moreover, the differences of voltage equations between superconducting synchronous generator and motor are considered.

  • This paper deals with the high efficient vector control for the reduction of copper losses of the doubly fed motor. Firstly, the feedback linearization control based on Lyapunov approach is employed to design the underlying controller achieving the double fluxes orientation. The fluxes# controllers are designed independently of the speed. The speed controller is designed using the Lyapunov method especially employed to the unknown load torques. The global asymptotic stability of the overall system is theoretically proven. Secondly, a new Torque Copper Losses Factor is proposed to deal with the problem of the machine copper losses. Its main function is to optimize the torque in keeping the machine saturation at an acceptable level. This leads to a reduction in machine currents and therefore their accompanied copper losses guaranteeing improved machine efficiency. The simulation and experimental results in comparative presentation confirm largely the effectiveness of the proposed DFIM control with a very interesting energy saving contribution.

  • This paper presents an improved automatic vending machine for ices. Specially, the main topic of this paper is the development of moving parts for carrying ices out of a freezer. In general, carrying ices out of a vending machine causes much cool air losses. The developed vending machine reduces much cool air losses by the improvement of moving parts. Also the machine reduces many mechanical troubles caused by the freezing of mechanically moving parts.

  • In this paper, TCP/IP based Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication uses CDMA/GSM network for data communication. This communication method is widely used by offshore moored buoy for data transmission back to the system server. Due to weather and signal coverage, the TCP/IP M2M communication often experiences transmission failure and causing data losses in the server. Data losses are undesired especially for meteorological and oceanographic analysis. This paper discusses a software approach to minimize M2M data losses by handling transmission failure and re-attempt which meant to transmit the data for recovery. This implementation was tested for its performance on a meteorological buoy placed offshore.

  • The paper presents the equivalent circuit of an induction machine (IM) model which includes fundamental stray load and iron losses. The corresponding equivalent resistances are introduced and modeled as variable with respect to the stator frequency and flux. Their computation does not require any tests apart from those imposed by international standards, nor does it involve IM constructional details. In addition, by the convenient positioning of these resistances within the proposed equivalent circuit, the order of the conventional IM model is preserved, thus restraining the inevitable increase of the computational complexity. In this way, a compromise is achieved between the complexity of the analyzed phenomena on the one hand and the model's practicability on the other. The proposed model has been experimentally verified using four IMs of different efficiency class and rotor cage material, all rated 1.5 kW. Besides enabling a quantitative insight into the impact of the stray load and iron losses on the operation of mains-supplied and vector-controlled IMs, the proposed model offers an opportunity to develop advanced vector control algorithms since vector control is based on the fundamental harmonic component of IM variables.

  • Air-cored machines have a higher efficiency with high frequency. speed than iron-cored machine because of the iron losses which may produce too much heat as well as the copper losses occurred in the rotor winding. But air-cored machine is lower flux than iron machine. The nature of the machine from 'iron-cored' to 'air-cored' is a progressive feature in the machines. A general analysis of the fields that is applicable to all configurations is presented. Slotless machines have been applied for no ripple induced voltage. In this paper, slotless mahcines equipped with internal 4-pole amature winding. This paper pay attention to analyze flux density of air-cored and iron-cored synchrous machine analytically and compare flux density of aired-cored machine to iron-cored machine.

  • This paper aims to develop a new chain metrics for obtaining lean Overall Equipment Effectiveness(OEE) and present implementation strategy which considers the properties for Total Productive Maintenance(TPM) to reduce machine losses, Performance Analysis and Control(PAC) to reduce labor losses, Lean Production System(LPS) to reduce floor wastes, and Theory of Constraints(TOC) to minimize the problem of Capacity Constrained Resource(CCR). The study reviews the related literatures and reformulates the structure of machine losses, labor losses and field wastes. The research also develops the integrated productivity metrics according to time, units, reliability and maintainability. It is found that the study develops the actual productivity measure in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and standard productivity. In addition to that, it outlines and develops by using the integrated LPS and TPM, lean OEE measures such as Time Based Productivity(TBP), Unit Based Productivity(UBP), and Reliability & Maintainability Based Availability(RMBA). Implication examples are proposed to make it easier and available for practioners to understand the implementation strategies about TPM OEE, lean OEE and TOC OEE. Futhermore related to other studies, the research contributes to create a new chain productivity measures to clear the interrelationship concepts of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Moreover the paper develops the enhanced OEE measures by integration of TPM, PAC, LPS and TOC with the perspective of schedule, throughput, reliability, maintainability and availability.

  • The accuracy of all the schemes that belong to vector controlled induction machine drives is strongly affected by parameter variations. The aim of this paper is to examine iron losses and magnetic saturation effect in sensorless vector control of induction machines. At first, an approach to induction machine modelling and vector control scheme, which account for both iron loss and saturation, is presented. Then, a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based speed estimator is developed. The speed estimation is modified in such a way that iron losses and the variation in the saturation level are compensated. Thus by substituting an artificial neural network flux estimator into the MRAS speed estimator. Experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
