  • This paper describes magnetic field on power cable in underground transmission systems. Based on specification which is being used in domestic power utility, magnetic field was analyzed in accordance with line arrangement, line burial depth and phase spacing. Magnetic field magnitude and its trend were understood in each circuit type such as double circuits, triple circuits and quadruple circuits of underground transmission systems. In addition, magnetic field was analyzed according to phase arrangement changing in each circuit. Finally, the proper phase arrangement configuration type was suggested by the evaluation of analysis result. Magnetic field was calculated by using Biot-Savart's law. According to the evaluated magnetic fields based on phase layout configuration in each circuit, it figured out that each of magnetic fields was different. As a result, this paper proposes a proper phase layout configuration for generating minimum magnetic field. It is evaluated that the phase layout configuration in each circuit proposed in this paper can be used at actual underground transmission systems.

  • Rotatory two-phase transverse flux machine(TFM) is a relatively new type of motor with high power density, high torque, and low speed in comparison to conventional electrical motors. However, it has some shortcomings,.i.e. complex construction and high possibility of the magnetically induced vibration due to its inherent structure. This paper investigates the characteristics of the magnetic force and the torque in the rotatory two-phase TFM by using the 3-D finite element method and the spectral analysis. This research shows that the average torque decreases and that the torque ripple increases as the phase delay increases. It also shows that the unbalanced magnetic force is one of the dominant excitation forces in this machine. And it proposes a new topology of rotatory two-phase TFM to eliminate the unbalanced magnetic force.

  • In many cases, the magnetic farce model is linearized at the origin in designing the controller of a magnetic bearing system. However. this linear assumption is violated by the unmodeled nonlinear effect such as sensor dislocation and backup bearing dislocation. Therefore, a direct probe into the nonlinear magnetic force model in an active magnetic bearing system is necessary. To analyze the nonlinear magnetic force model of a magnetic bearing system, phase plot analysis which is to plot the numerical solution of the nonlinear equation in several initial points in the interested region is applied. Phase plot analysis is used to observe a nonlinear dynamic system qualitatively (not quantitatively). With this method, we can get much useful information of the nonlinear system. Among this information, a bifurcation graph that represents stability and locations of fixed points is essential. From the bifurcation graph, a stability criterion of magnetic bearing system is derived.

  • It has been known that the global asteroseismic parameters as well as the stellar acoustic mode parameters vary with stellar magnetic activity. Some solar-like stars whose variations are thought to be induced by magnetic activity, however, show mode frequencies changing with different magnitude and phase unlike what is expected for the Sun. Therefore, it is of great importance to find out whether expected relations are consistently manifested regardless of the phase of the stellar magnetic cycle, in the sense that observations are apt to cover a part of a complete cycle of stellar magnetic activity unless observations span several decades. Here, we explore whether the observed relations of the global seismic parameters hold good regardless of the phase of the stellar magnetic cycle, even if observations only cover a part of the stellar magnetic cycle. For this purpose, by analyzing photometric Sun-as-a-star data from 1996 to 2019 covering solar cycles 23 and 24, we compare correlations of the global asteroseismic parameters and magnetic proxies for four separate intervals of the solar cycle: solar minima ±2 years, solar minima +4 years, solar maxima ±2 years, and solar maxima +4 years. We have found that the photometric magnetic activity proxy, Sph, is an effective proxy for the solar magnetic activity regardless of the phase of the solar cycle. The amplitude of the mode envelope correlates negatively with the solar magnetic activity regardless of the phase of the solar cycle. However, relations between the central frequency of the envelope and the envelope width are vulnerable to the phase of the stellar magnetic cycle.

  • Magnetic properties of highly zinc-substituted manganese ferrites are discussed on the basis of cation distribution. High throughput neutron powder diffractometry indicates that the prepared samples possess a nearly normal spinel structure, where the substitution of nonmagnetic zinc ions mainly causes the dilution of magnetic ions in the A-sublattice and consequently affects bond-randomness in the B-sublattice. On the other hand, the estimated occupancy of manganese ions in the B site indicates that random anisotropy effects due to local Jahn-Teller distortions gradually weaken with the substitution. Bulk magnetometry indicates that the substitution smears the transition from a paramagnetic phase to a soft-magnetic phase. Furthermore, at lower temperatures, such a soft-magnetic phase is destabilized and a magnetic glassy state appears. These features of the magnetic properties of dilute spinel ferrites are discussed from the viewpoint of the above-mentioned various types of disorders.

  • Purpose of this study is to find the mitigation method of magnetic field by finite length multi-conductors such as indoor distribution lines and to be applicable to design of the distribution lines. For this purpose, exact formula about the components $B_x$, $B_y$, $B_z$ of magnetic field need in case of straight line-conductor with finite length forward any direction. In this study simple formula of the components were deduced and by using these formula magnetic fields for various models of line-configurations were calculated. And also a calculation method of induced currents in conductive shield was presented and using this method, programing of calculation is relatively easy and calculation time is short. The magnetic field after cancellation by these induced currents was calculated. All of calculations were performed by Matlab 7.0 programs. Through the calculation results it could be obtained followings for the mitigation of magnetic fields. The separation between conductors ought to be smaller than smaller as possible. In case of 3-phase, delta configuration is more effective than flat configuration. In case of 3-phase, unbalanced currents ought to be reduced as possible.. In case of more than two circuits of 3-phase, adequate locations of each phase-conductor such as rotating configuration of 3-phase conductors are more effective. The magnetic shielding effect of the conductive shielding sheet is very high.

  • The single phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) has many merits; simple structure and driving circuits, easy operation and speed control, and etc. This paper presents the torque characteristics of disk type single phase SRM by changing the salient pole lengths and pole arcs. The prototype single phase SRM has a three dimensional magnetic flux pattern because of its structure. That is, the radial and axial magnetic flux contributes to torque generation. Thus, 3D analysis is required for computation of its magnetic field. In this paper, 3D FEM is used for analyzing the magnetic flux distribution and magnetic co-energy.

  • Single phase induction motor(SPIM) is used widely because it is driven by single phase source. However, the efficiency of the motor is not good due to saturation of magnetic material. To analyze the motor accurately, the magnetic saturation characteristics should be considered in analysis of equivalent circuit. In this paper, lumped parameter of circuit are derived from multi phase induction motor using method of symmetrical coordinates. Also, we presents a method for the equivalent circuit analysis of SPIM using magnetic saturation rate. The magnetic nonlinearity is considered deriving magnetizing reactance from voltage-current saturation curve. As a results, current characteristic, torque, output and efficiency are shown through analysis of equivalent circuit. A simulation results of SPIM will be used to improve the characteristics and efficiency of motor.

  • The properties of magnetic material of Nd-Fe-B are highly affected by various factors such as particle size, magnetic anisotropy, phase purity and crystal structure. Incorporation of excess neodymium was carried out in various percentages so that it will adjust the proportion of neodymium in the host crystal after reduction treatment and finally help to improve magnetic property of a material. The interdiffusion of Nd-Fe and boron was studied for various compositions and their effect on magnetic property was understood with theoretical concepts. The factors such as amount of hard and soft phase in the reduction treated product is also responsible for the possible exchange coupling between hard and soft phase magnets for better magnetic properties.
