  • Robot refers to machines that recognize the external environment and assess the given situations in order to operate autonomously by imitating the manner in which humans behave. Although Korea still lacks global competitiveness, Korea, as the $4^{th}$ ranked robot manufacturing country in the world, is currently expanding the domains of robots from application in manufacturing to application in service provision. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the factors for the success in entry into the cooperation robot market among various robotic markets in accordance with the literary research method in consideration for the importance of robot industry that could determine the future national competitiveness. The result of the analysis of the factors for the success in entry into the cooperation robot market, shows that factors including analysis of the trends in manufacturing robot market, strategy for benchmarking of the leading cooperation robot companies, activation of small and medium enterprise-centered cooperation robotic industry, excavation of demands for cooperation robots with focus on automobile, semiconductor and IT industries, utilization of the opportunities provided by government's robotic industry policies and standardization of cooperation robot components, etc. determine whether one will succeed in the market or not. Furthermore, it is believed that fortification of competitiveness of the manufacturing sector through the powerful policy support for the robotic industry at government level and policies on cultivation of new growth engine through specialization of the robotic areas closely related to daily life must be implemented concurrently because it is forecasted that competitiveness in robotics technology will become the criterion for national competitiveness in the future.

  • This study proposes an intelligent control of manufacturing robot with dual arm based on neural network for smart factory implementation. In the control method of robot system, the perspectron structure of single layer based on neural network is useful for simple computation. However, the limitations of computation are emerging in areas that require complex computations. To overcome limitation of complex parameters computation a new intelligent control technology is proposed in this study. The performance is illustrated by simulation and experiments for manufacturing robot dual arm robot with eight axes.

  • Progress in the LCD industries has been very rapid. Therefore, their manufacturing lines require larger LCD glass-handling robots and more precise path control of the robots. In this paper, we present two practical advanced algorithms for high-precision path generation of an LCD glass-handling robot. One is high-precision path interpolation for continuous motion, which connects several single motions and is a reliable solution for a short robot cycle time. We demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce path error by approximately 91% compared with existing algorithms without increasing cycle time. The second is real-time static deflection compensation, which can optimally compensate the static deflection of the handling robot without any additional sensors, measurement instruments or mechanical axes. This reduces vertical path error to approximately 60% of the existing system error. All of these algorithms have been commercialized and applied to a seventh-generation LCD glass-handling robot.

  • To increase reliability and performance of an IMS(Intelligent Manufacturing System), fault tolerant control based on an accurate fault diagnosis is needed. In this paper, robot FDI(fault detection and identification) is proposed for IMS where the robot is controlled with state estimates of a nonlinear filter using a mathematical robot model. The Chi-square distribution is applied fault detection and fault size is estimated by a proposed bias filter. Performance of the proposed algorithm is tested by simulation for studies.

The laser system is used 1.6kW Fiber laser(YLR-1600) of IPG. The robot system is used HX130-02 of Hyundai Heavy Industry(payload : 130kg). The robot based laser welding system is equipped with laser scanner system for remote laser welding. The welding joints of steel plate and steel plate coated with zinc are butt and lapped joints. The quality test of the laser welding are through the observation the shape of bead on plate and cross-section of welding part. During past three years the laser system, 4kW Nd:YAG laser (HL4006D) of Trumpf was used and the robot system, IRB6400R of ABB (payload:120kg) was used. The new laser source, robot and laser scanner system are used to increase the processing speed and to improve the process efficiency. This paper introduces the robot based remote laser welding system to resolve the limited welding speed and accuracy of the conventional laser welding system.

  • This paper a new solution approach to moving obstacle avoidance problem of a mobile robot. A new concept avoidability measure (AVM) is defined to describe the state of a pair of a robot and an obstacle regarding the collision between them. As an AVM, virtual distance function (VDF), is derived as a function of the distance from the obstacle to the robot and outward speed of the obstacle relative to the robot. By keeping the virtual distance above some positive limit value, the robot avoids the obstacle. In terms of the VDF ,an artificial potential field is constructed to repel the robot away from the obstacle and to attract the robot toward a goal location. At every sampling time, the artificial potential field is updated and the force driving the robot is derived from the gradient of the artificial potential field. The suggested algorithm drives the robot to avoid moving obstacles in real time. Since the algorithm considers the mobility of the obstacle as well as the distance, it is effective for moving obstacle avoidance. Some simulation studies show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
