  • This study proposed a metadata schema for integrated management of festival archives and records produced individually. To achieve the goals, this study reviewed related literature, studied comparison analysis of international standards in Korea, Australia, and England, as well as interviews with festival staffs. With the results of investigation that compared the standardizations related to metadata and analysis of features in festival archives and records, this study proposed a metadata schema to describe various features on festival archives and records. The expectation of this study is that the festival archives and records, which are created in various organizations related to festivals, can be managed effectively. Also, the proposed schema can be used for the establishment of a systematic management for various types of festival archives and records.

  • Metadata standard is very important element to describe a digital resource in the records lifecycle. Metadata standard is influenced by the purpose and content of tasks that are performed to a resource. But it does not reflect a task-centric viewpoint to cover the whole records-lifecycle because metadata is defined and designed from a resource-centric viewpoint. In other words, to cover the whole records-lifecycle using metadata, it is necessary to properly select and combine metadata property from a task-centric viewpoint. Therefore, we proposed a task-centric metadata application profile that can combine and select appropriate metadata properties according to requirements and tasks performed on resource.

  • The metadata elements of TV programs were designed based on PBCore (Public Broadcasting Metadata Dictionary), which is useful descriptive metadata for TV programs, and on interview results with TV program records managers. TV program information was visualized to extract core information and build a proper schema. Through this analysis, detailed metadata elements were designed in four representative areas: intellectual content, intellectual property, instantiation and extensions.

  • This study aims to develop a metadata schema for sports moving records based on a multiple entity model as an attempt to suggest an effective way to manage, retrieve, and utilize sports moving records. The multiple entity model consists of four entities - sports match, match contributors, moving records, and record management business - and metadata elements were developed for each entity. In addition, authority records for sports team and persons were created to ensure the consistency of terminology and provide rich contextual information. The suggested multiple entity model, metadata elements, and authority records for sports teams and persons were verified, modified, and expanded by a group of experts including a sports marketing expert and professors in the sports department.

  • Electronic record types are becoming diverse, and "composite electronic records," which are made up of various types of electronic records associated with functionality or user interaction that does not exist in current electronic document formats, are increasing. To ensure a continuous access to composite electronic records, metadata construction is a prerequisite for electronic records archiving. In this paper, we propose a metadata that can support archiving of composite electronic records associated with interactive functionality. The common elements were derived from an analysis of both domestic and international file format registry projects, and metadata elements related to functional requirements were identified from the analysis of the records on nursing education e-learning contents. We proposed the metadata elements for archiving composite electronic records, which consist of 25 high-level elements and 138 subelements.

  • For long-term preservation of electronic records, the information on the whole processes of management from the time of creation of the electronic information should be captured and managed together. Such information is supported by preservation metadata thus the implementation of preservation metadata is important for preservation of electronic records maintaining the record-ness. Preservation metadata is the information that supports the process of digital preservation and functions th maintain long-term viability, renderability, understandability, authenticity and identity of digital resources. Preservation metadata should be developed applying the international standard Reference Model for an Open Archival Information System(OAIS) to have international interoperability for exchange and reuse. Initial international preservation metadata schemas were developed standardizing the OAIS Reference Model. But the preservation metadata schema of Victorian Electronic Records Strategy(VERS) and recently published Data Dictionary of PREMIS Working Group were developed in advanced types that are different from the existing framework. Those were advanced th practical ones from conceptual one. Comparing these two cases, proposed the elements of integral preservation metadata for long-term preservation of electronic records. This thesis has the significance that it has suggested the direction for future development of the elements of preservation metadata by setting the past discussions related to preservation metadata in order and proposing integral preservation metadata elements for long-term preservation of electronic records.

  • The new environment for records managements requires the revolutionary transition from paper-record management to electric-record management. Capturing contents, contexts, and structure informations of the electric records to preserve the evidentiality, authenticity, and reliability is the outstanding issue. The recordkeeping metadata has been placed at the center of the current issue. This study focused on the establishment of the structures of recordkeeping metadata for current and semi-current stages in the life cycle of records. The reason concentrated on current and semi-current stages is that the authenticity of the record is concerned as the evidence of the business processes. Current and semi-current stages are where the records is able to be produced, captured and managed in the business context. The metadata can be collected and preserved with authenticity. This study explained the relations between entities concerned with producing records and proposed the metadata elements by establishing data model.

  • Various organizations generate and collect human rights records in North Korea for the purpose of punishing perpetrators and compensating victims; hence, a systematic and integrated management system on such records is needed. As such, the study aims to propose metadata for the human rights records in the country. Furthermore, the study derived common and necessary elements for the management of human rights records and referred deficiencies to the United Nations' (UN) guidelines by analyzing three local and international organizations and two human rights record software. Overall, the metadata consists of 15 upper elements in total with their corresponding subelements. Each of the proposed upper elements consists of 13 essential and 2 optional elements.

  • According to the development of web sites' technologies, public institutions use web sites to carry out their business and also to utilize as pathway between government and the people also. Public web records means the result of business process over web sites in public institutions. Although there is much valuable information, it is vanished away easily because there is not yet proper methods and tools for preservation. The purpose of this paper is to design the metadata elements required when archiving deep web records, which is a kind of web records. For that, we first analyze oversea's related researches to define what public deep web records is. Then we define metadata elements about that and also explain the relationship on archival information package in Korea and dublin core metadata to support interoperability for them. The defined metadata can be used for the basis technologies in archiving domestic public web records.

  • This study aims to design folk song metadata based on the OAIS reference model for the folk songs' preservation and permanent use. Thus, the folk songs' general characteristics were investigated by researching literature and related technical standards. The type of records, the methods and standards for long-term storage of records, OAIS reference models, and each package's metadata elements were identified through opinions from the popular songs' creators and researchers. The results awere that first, folk songs were created for social transformation, serving as a cultural heritage different from popular songs given their noncommercial quality. Second, the types of folk song records were identified, and the long-term preservation system suitable for the types of records was based on the OAIS reference model. Third, the metadata were edited, and the OIS reference model was applied such that respect was given to the folk songs' characteristics, context, and original order. Fourth and last, information package metadata elements matching the folk songs' records were derived and applied to the representative Korean folk song, "The March for Being."
