The Generic Attributes of the New Millennial Leaders

  • As the millennials continue to mature and enter the workforce, it is important that employers understand what this generation expects from all aspects of their employment and leadership preferences in order to prepare them to be the next millennials leaders. The purpose of this research is to determine the generic attributes of the new millennial leaders in Malaysia. The survey is distributed among executives in the selected government-linked, multinational, and public-sector companies in Malaysia, with 237 (72%) of whom being millennials. Partial least square (PLS-SEM) via software SmartPLS 3.0 was applied to evaluate the measurement model and the structural model. Results from this study indicate that the attributes of the millennials leader are innovative (0.213), inspiration (0.128), and visionary (0.122). Thus, organization can focus on those attributes in preparing the millennials for being the next generation of leaders. This study offers important implications to researchers as well as practitioners, and highlights the leadership attributes that could help in enhancing millennials leadership. This study produces a new millennials leadership attributes model for millennials leaders in Malaysian companies; with millennials becoming the fastest-growing age groups in the organizations, this study will promote effective and efficient skills for the millennials.

A Comparative Study of Consumption Propensity and Determinants of Purchasing According to Cultural Differences between Baby Boomers and Millennials: Application to Franchise Customers

  • Purpose: The baby boomers and the millennials, who make up the largest share of the market, are showing the gap in their differentiated cultural styles. The purpose of this study is to study the consumption propensity and purchasing determinants of the baby boomers generation and the millennials generation, which have become a very important key pillar in shaping the market based on the cultural dimension model theory of h(=>H)opstead, and to identify the difference Research design, data, and methodology: In order to verify the research hypotheses, The data was collected from the baby boomers and the millennials using online questionnaires. The pre-test was conducted from October 10 to 12, 2019, and the main survey was conducted from October 15 to 25. A total of 230 copies were recalled, and the final 219 copies were used for the final analysis. Results: The consumption propensity between the baby boomers and the millennials differed in resource saving purchase propensity and impulse buying propensity. The baby boomers showed higher resource saving purchase propensity than the millennials, while the millennials showed higher impulse buying propensity. There was a difference in the determinants to purchasing only in the evaluation factor. Results of gender differences by generation, baby boomers differed in their planned purchase propensity, and women were higher. The millennials generation differed in resource saving purchase propensity and awareness propensity for others, all higher in men. In determinants to purchasing, the baby boomers did not differ in gender, and the millennials did differ in product factors. A canonical correlations analysis of the relationship between the baby boomers and the millennials showed a significant relationship between consumption propensity and determinants to purchasing. Also, the baby boomer generation has the biggest link between impulse buying propensity and evaluation factor. The millennials generation showed the biggest link between resource saving purchase and product factors. Conclusions: This study compared consumption propensity and determinants to purchasing of baby boomers and millennials on the basis of Hopstead's cultural dimension model theory to identify differences between generations, presenting practical and theoretical implications for establishing a correct understanding and specific marketing strategy among generation.

Application of AI in Marketing Strategy: Insights from Millennials and Generation Z

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the perceptions of millennials and Generation Z regarding AI applications in marketing, an area that has been rarely explored in previous researches. This study formulated research questions how millennials and Generation Z perceive the impact of brand image, AI-assistant customer service, affective factor, immersive experience, cognitive factor social factor and competitiveness of products and brands on overall attitude through the lens of AI applications in marketing. Additionally, this study also explored the influence of overall attitudes on satisfaction, intention to use, and loyalty towards AI applications. Research design, data and methodology: To gather data, this study employed an online survey conducted in collaboration with a reputable research organization. This study utilized factor analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis for data analysis. Results: The findings revealed that the impact of brand image, AI-assistant customer service, and competitiveness on attitude demonstrated significance in both millennials and generation Z cohorts. The study identified that cognitive and social factors significantly influenced attitudes among millennials, whereas affective and immersive experiences showed significance in influencing attitudes among Generation Z. Conclusions: The findings offer valuable managerial implications, shedding light on the application of AI in marketing with distinct perspectives between millennials and Generation Z.

How Millennials and Generation Z Perceive Sustainable Growth of Accommodation Sharing Platform Business?

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate factors that affect overall attitudes on accommodations sharing platform businesses and effects of overall attitudes on sustainability of accommodation sharing platform and contribution to the tourism industry with the perspectives of millennials and generation Z. Research design, data and methodology: This study conducted an online survey. This study applied factor, ANOVA, and regression analysis to test hypotheses. Results: The results found that factors including economic, trust, environment, local market facilitation, and the quality of residents' life affect overall attitudes toward accommodation sharing, while social and experience aspects do now show significance on overall attitudes. Effects of overall attitudes on sustainability of the accommodation sharing platform and contribution to the tourism industry showed significance. Conclusions: The results provide managerial and policy implications. The results implied how millennials and generation Z perceive significant factors such as local market facilitation for economic benefits and environment aspects with usage of accommodation sharing support characteristics of millennials and generation Z. How to foster social aspects to interact with millennials and generation Z and experience aspects to enhance values of the accommodation sharing that shares experiences remained future issues for better development of sharing platform businesses.

Necessity of the Slow City Management and Distributional Values by Generations

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how to perceive the role of the slow city and provide policy and managerial implications on the necessity of the slow city management and distributional values based on perspectives of millennials and generation Z. This study examined i) how do millennials and generation Z perceive economic, environment, cultural, community, and quality of life factors on attitude toward the slow city? ii) how does attitude affect overall satisfaction and intention to recommend the slow city to other cities' residents? iii) how do millennials perspectives on proposed factors differ from generation Z? Research design, data and methodology: This study conducted an online survey and applied t-test, factor, ANOVA, and regression analysis. Results: This study found that effects of economic and quality of life factors on attitude toward the slow city showed significance in cases of millennials and generation Z, while effects of environment factor on overall attitude showed significance in the case of generation Z. Conclusions: Governments should foster how millennials and generation Z understand the meanings of the slow city to form a better attitude in a society and put efforts to build a better image and management of the slow city.

A Study on the High-Emotional Quality in the Design perceived by Chinese Millennials - focused on Emotional Image- (중국의 밀레니얼 세대가 인식하는 디자인에서의 고급감성에 관한 연구 -감성 이미지를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the high-emotional quality in the design perceived by the Chinese millennials. To do this, we summarized the theoretical concepts of high-emotional quality in design based on the understanding of the characteristics of the millennials. Second, we collected and analyzed the high-emotional quality images thought by 50 millennials living in Beijing, China. Research results showed that high-emotional quality in the design perceived by the Chinese millennials was the innovation of the technology with the change of times, the social superiority that distinguishes me from other groups, and the cultural excellence taking more pride in own culture. This study are expected to be used as the basic data to understand the emotions of the Chinese millennials and to establish a design strategy for them.

Factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping

  • Social media has become an integral part of consumers' daily lives. Individuals connect with one another on social networking sites to like, share, and post information and experiences. As social media become popular among millennials, a growing number of fashion retailers use social media networks in the context of online commerce transactions. Accordingly, an increased number of fashion retailers has been using social media as an advertising tool and a retail channel. Despite the popularity of social media among millennials, empirical findings are limited to reveal factors associated with young consumers' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping. This study sought to examine factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping by adopting the technology acceptance model. A total of 524 college students completed an online survey in the U.S. The results of structural equation model confirmed that perceived ease of use, usefulness, and enjoyment had a positive impact on millennials' attitudes and intentions toward fashion shopping in social commerce. While both perceived ease of use and usefulness positively influenced enjoyment, usefulness had a stronger impact than ease of use. Compared to usefulness, enjoyment had much stronger impact on attitudes. Further structural model analysis revealed a direct, positive influence of perceived usefulness of social commerce on perceived enjoyment of social commerce, which has not been explored in prior studies. These findings provide theoretical and managerial implications.

Netflix in Indonesia: Influential Factors on Customer Engagement among Millennials' Subscribers

  • Purpose: This study is to explore how Netflix Customers' Engagement was influenced by Instagram Content, Perceived Price, Exclusivity, and Motivation in the context of Media Streaming and the role of Willingness to Subscribe as the mediating variable. This study underlines millennial's willingness to engage and the form of engagement. Research design, data, and methodology: The data for this research were collected from 100 Netflix's Millennials subscribers who follow @netflixid Instagram. All the results were analyzed and verified using SEM-PLS. Results: Research findings indicated that Willingness to Subscribe, Exclusivity, Motivation, and Instagram Content positively influenced Customer Engagement among Netflix millennials' subscribers. In contrast, Perceived Price had a negative effect on Customer Engagement. Conclusions: As a consequence, the exclusivity that Netflix offers to its audience by a recommendation algorithm has been proven to increase the engagement. This study also disclosed that the most definite form of positive engagement shown by Netflix millennials' subscribers is a behavioral aspect, where they positively recommend Netflix (word of mouth). The study findings can be a reference for the media streaming industry in their efforts to strengthen the engagement with their customers, especially the millennials, and provide knowledge about consumer behavior in digital technology.

How to Foster Digital Payment Service for Millennials and Generation Z? (MZ 세대의 디지털 결제 서비스의 결정요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore factors that affect millennials and generation Z customers' perception on intention to recommend to use the digital payment services and invesetigate factors that affect perception on sustainable growth of the digital payment services. This study applied the following research questions: i) how perceived brand value, easy to use, personalization, open to public, and social value affect intention to recommend to use the digital payment services and ii) how perceived public policy, promotional strategy, and prspects affect intention to recommend to use the digital payment services to others. This study conducted an online survey. This study applied factor, ANOVA, and regression analysis to test hypotheses. The results of this study found that effects of personalization, open to public, and social value on intention to recommend the service showed significance in the case of millennials, while effects of brand value, easy to use, and open to publis on intention to recommend the service showed significance in the case of generation Z. The results provide managerial and policy implications on how to apply better strategies and pepare policies to enhance adoption of the digital payment service in cases of millennials and generation Z.

Artificial Intelligence Application in City Marketing Strategies: Perspectives from Millennials and Generation Z

  • This study aims to explore driving factors of Artificial Intelligence application for city marketing strategy with perspectives of millennials and generation Z. This study proposed the following research questions: i) how perceived place branding factor, public service factor, affective factor, immersive experience factor, cognitive factor, cost benefit factor, social networking factor, and promotional value factor affect attitude toward AI application for city marketing; and ii) how attitude affect satisfaction and prospect toward AI application for city marketing? This study conducted an online survey with the assistance of a well-known research agency and applied factor and regression analysis to test hypotheses. The results found that effects of place branding, cognitive, social networking, and promotional value affect attitude significantly in the case of millennials, while effects of public service, affective, cost benefit, social networking, and promotional value affect attitude significantly in the case of generation Z. The results found that effects of attitude on satisfaction and prospect of AI showed significance. The results provide implications and different aspects for AI application of city marketing strategy with perspectives by generations, while millennials and generation Z perceived effects of promotional value as the most significant factor for AI application of city marketing strategy.
