  • Ca salt of soybean oil (PSO) and that of mustard oil plus mahua oil (PMOMO) (50:50) were prepared using double decomposition method, and further tested for their fatty acid composition and degree of saponification. Furthermore, the different levels of protected fat of PSO and PMOMO were evaluated in wheat straw based total mixed ration (TMR) in vitro. Results indicated that capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, steric, oleic, linoleic, leinolenic acids were traces, traces, traces, 10.00, 2.00, 25.00, 58.50, 5.0% in PSO while the corresponding values in PMOMO were 1.08, 0.28, 0.45, 16.9, 12.95, 44.38, 17.46 and 6.50%, respectively. The degree of saponification of both protected fat supplements was more than 80%. Six treatment combinations were tested I.e., blank without feed and fat supplement (T1); control diet with out fat supplement (T2); control diet plus bypass fat supplement (PSO) so that diet contain 5% fat (T3); control diet plus bypass fat supplement (PSO) so that diet contain 7.5% fat (T4); two more diets viz. T5 and T6 were formulated using bypass fat supplement from PMOMO containing 5 and 7.5% fat respectively. TMR was prepared using 50% concentrate mixture and 50% wheat straw. Result indicated that TVFA, $NH_3-N$,TCA-N, total-N and total gas production were increased in treatment diets at 7.5% level of supplementation, however, fermentation pattern remain similar at 5.0% level of supplementation with respect to control diet. Nevertheless, IVDMD and IVOMD values remained unchanged, rather non-significant at both fat levels and with the both fat sources. On the basis of results it was concluded that Ca-salt of Soybean oil or Mustard plus Mahua oil did not show any negative effect either on digestibility or on microbial protein synthesis in rumen, hence the dietary fat upto 7.5% level in total mixed ration based on wheat straw, could be safely used without any adverse effect on rumen fermentation.

  • The continuous transesterification of mixed fat was done on the plug flow reactor packed with the static mixers. The transesterification using 0.5 wt% KOH, 0.8 wt% TMAH and mixed catalyst[40 v/v% KOH(0.5 wt%)+60 v/v% TMAH(0.8 wt%)] was conducted with the changes of molar ratios, weight percentage of beef, flow rates and number of static mixer's elements at $65^{\circ}C$. The overall conversion of mixed fat at 1:8 molar ratio, 50 wt% of beef and 24 of static mixer's elements increased until 0.7mL/min of flow rate. The overall conversion of mixed fat showed 96% at those conditions. So, the optimum operating conditions on tublar reactor were 1:8 molar ratio, 50 wt% of beef, 0.7 mL/min of flow rate and 24 of static mixer' s elements.

  • This study has examined the removal of mixed soil of protein and fat by protease. Cotton and PET fabrics were soiled by spotting of hemoglobin and triolein, respectively. The soiling order and soil concentration were changed in this procedure. The soiled fabrics were aged at 130℃ for 20 minutes. Protease was added in the alcohol ethoxylate(AE) detergent solution. The removal effciency was evaluated by analysis of protein and/or fat on the fabrics before and after washing, respectively. The detergency of PET fabrics was higher than that of cotton fabrics. The removal efficiency of hemoglobin was improved by protease from cotton and PET fabrics. Especially the removal efficiency of hemoglobin was remarkably improved from cotton fabrics. With the increase of hemoglobin and triolein (1:1) mixed soil, the removal of mixed soil was increased in proportion to mixed soil content up to a certain point. but it began to decrease above the point from cotton fabrics, while it was generally increased from PET fabrics. The detergency of total mixed soil from cotton fabrics was higher in case of soiling order with triolein after hemoglobin than in case of soiling order with triolein before hemoglobin. But the soiling order was not greatly effected in the detergency of total mixed soil from PET fabrics.

  • Two experiments were conducted to assess the use of full-fat canola seed and restored oil meal plus oil of canola in the ration for broiler chicks. In the first experiment, broilers received diets containing 10% heated or non-heated full-fat canola seed and conola oil meal mixed with corresponding oil or animal fat. In the second experiment, broiler diets contained 10 or 20% of canola seed and canoia meal mixed with canola oil. Heat treatment of full-fat canola seed and the types of fat mixed with meals had no significant effect on all of broiler performance and nutrient retention parameters investigated. Bioilers consuming 10 to 20% dietary canola seed or mixture of canola meal plus oil performed as well as the control birds. It is concluded that the canola seed or the mixture of restored canola meal plus oil or fat can be well utilized by broiler at dietary levels of 10 to 20%.
