ENU(ethylnitrosourea) mutagenesis has been carrying out since 1999 in Korea Institute of Toxicology (KIT), Korea Research Institute Chemical of Technology (KRlCT). We have chosen BALB/c and C57BL/6 and screened for dominant and recessive mutants. Four hundred and twenty one males(GO) have been injected with ENU, 150, 200, 250 and 300 mg/kg body weight, twice, one week apart.(omitted)
NUCB2/nesfatin-1 is first known to be expressed in the hypothalamus while controlling appetite and energy metabolism. However, recent studies have shown that NUCB2/nesfatin-1 was expressed in the various organs as well as the hypothalamus. Our previous reports also demonstrated that NUCB2/nesfatin-1 was expressed in the ovary, testis, pituitary gland, lung, kidney, and stomach of fetal and adult mice. However, the role of NUCB2/nesfatin-1 in mouse fetus remains unknown. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether NUCB2/nestatin-1 is expressed in mouse fetus at the developmental stage in which organogenesis begins. To do this, we performed in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining to examine the distribution of NUCB2 mRNA and nesfatin-1 protein in the mouse fetal organs during early developmental stages, especially at embryonic day (E) 10.5. As a result of ISH, NUCB2 mRNA positive signals were more frequent in the liver, but there were relatively few positive signals in heart. On the other hand, no positive signals were detected in other organs. These ISH results were validated by IHC staining and qRT-PCR analysis. Expression of nesfatin-1 protein detected by IHC staining was similar to that of NUCB2 mRNA detected by ISH in the liver and heart. In addition, the levels of NUCB2 mRNA expression analyzed by qRT-PCR were significantly increased in the liver and heart compared to other organs of the mouse fetus at E13.5, whereas its level was extensively decreased in the liver, but increased in the lung, stomach, and kidney of the mouse fetus at E17.5. These results suggest that NUCB2/nesfatin-1 may play an important role in liver and heart development and physiological functions in the developmental process of mouse fetus. Further studies are needed on the function of NUCB2/nesfatin-1, which is highly expressed in the various organs, including liver and heart during mouse development.

Beam projector is popularly used for presentation. In order to pay attention to local area of the beam projector display, a laser pointer is used together with a pointing device(Mouse). Simple wireless presenter has limited functions of a pointing device such as "go to next slide" or "back to previous slide" in a specific application(Microsoft PowerPoint) through wireless channel; thus, there is inconvenience to do other tasks e.g., program execution, maximize/minimize window etc. provided by clicking mouse buttons. The main objective of this paper is to implement a multi-functional laser-pointer mouse that has the same functions of a computer mouse. In order to get position of laser spot in the projector display, an image processing to extract the laser spot in the camera image is required. In addition, we propose a transformation of the spot position into computer display coordinates to execute mouse functions on computer display.
This experiment was carrid out to know the effects of heating and serum on hydroxyl radicals in embryonic mouse forebrain (cerebrum) culture. The heating to mouse embryonic cerebrum cells in culture was done in a water bath at 43${\circ}C$ for 60min. After that, two supernatants were prepared at 20 hrs and 48 hrs respectively after heat treatment to the brain cells. To find out the heating effects on neuron cells, mouse cerebrum cells (13 embryonic day) were cultured in hydroxyl radical generation system composed of 20mU/ml glucose oxidase (GO system), using condition of normal culture media (MEM, 5% serum, 5% $CO_2$or supernatant prepared after heating at 43${\circ}C$ for 60 min in a water bath. Supernatant prepared at 20 hrs after heat treatment had a greater protective effects against hydroxyl radical than supernatant prepared at 48 hrs after heat treatment . Otherwise, the protective effect of serum against hydroxyl radicals in the cultured brain cells is higher than that in the heat treatment. These results indicated that serum in culture media reduced cytotoxicity of hydroxyl radicals in mouse forebrain culture, also that heat treatment showed the protective effects against hydroxyl radicals generated with 20mU/ml GO system in mouse forebrain culture.
In order to manifest the presence of Na-K pump and its property on the unfertilized egg membranes of mouse, membrane potential was recorded under the physiological condition (at $37^{\circ}C$ and 4mM $Ca^{2+}$). After an induction of superovulation, the fresh eggs with zona pellucida were collected from mouse oviduct. Transient hyperpolarization as pump action was recorded after the switch into the high potassium perfusate (15mM $K^+$) from K-free perfusate, and the difference between membrane potential observed just before the perfusion of high potassium solution and the maximal membrane potenlial during the perfusion of high potassium solution was regard as pump activities. The results observed were as follows, 1. Resting mombrane potential was depolarized under the treatment of $10^{-5}M$ ouabain. 2. Pump activities of the unfertilized mouse eggs were $-3.38{\pm}0.61mV$ ($Mean{\pm}SD$, n=6), recorded as transient hyperpolarization due to the electrogenic property. 3. Pump activities were blocked by both treatment of $10^{-5}M$ ouabain and perfusion of Nafree solution, while increased by high $Na^+$ (300mM) perfusion ($-7.45{\pm}0.75mV$, n =2). 4. Hyperpolarization due to pump activity was not altered by $Mn^{2+}$. 5. Above results confirm the presence of ouabain-sensitive Na-K pump, which affected the membrane potential directly, on the unfertilized egg membranes of mouse.
This paper suggests the best work conditions, including short break time and number of mouse clicks on a computer, to prevent MSDs(Musculoskeletal Disorders) on VDT(Visual Display Terminal) work. Discomfort measures are calculated according to the Borg's CR-10 Scale. The short break time conditions are grouped into 7, 15, and 30 seconds after every 10-minute work period and the number of mouse clicks are divided into 10 clicks/min, 20clicks/min, and 30clicks/min. The result of the ANOVA on the shift value of subjective discomfort shows the following: 1) Regarding the break time and the number of mouse clicks, there are statistical differences between the measured values for the neck and the wrist(p<0.05). 2) Regarding the number of mouse clicks, there are statistical differences between the measured values for the shoulder and the forearm(p<0.1). 3) Regarding the break time and the number of mouse clicks, there are no statistical differences between the measures values for the eyes, upper arms and back(p<0.1).

Future computer interface was interchanged with person's hands or eyes from traditional mouse. In this research, I developed glove type radio mouse using gyro sensor that is replaced mouse cursor movement with persons's hand movement. Introducing a mobile sensor network technology based on bluetooth, radio mouse connected to computer system wirelessly for overcoming wire mouse's activity restrictions. Also, using USB port interface made be easy to install and to use. Developed glove type radio mouse was confirmed in the possibility of using as well as an input pointing device for presentations or games that needed many kinds of user interaction.
The increased use of computers has introduced a variety kind of human-computer interfaces. Mouse is one of the useful interface tools to place the cursor on the desired position on the monitor. This paper suggested a foot controlled isotonic mouse which was similar to the ordinary hand-controlled mouse except that positioning was controlled by the right foot and the clicking was performed by the left foot. Experimental results showed that both the index of difficulty(IOD) and the display-control gain(DC gain) varied the total movement time in a target acquisition task on the monitor. The present authors also drew the optimal display-control gain of the foot-controlled isotonic mouse over the index of difficulty of 1.0 to 3.0. The optimal display-control gain, i. e., 0.256, could be used when designing a foot-controlled isotonic mouse.

Phenotypic analysis of gene-specific knockout (KO) mice has revolutionized our understanding of in vivo gene functions. As the use of mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells is inevitable for conventional gene targeting, the generation of knockout mice remains a very time-consuming and expensive process. To accelerate the large-scale production and phenotype analyses of KO mice, international efforts have organized global consortia such as the International Knockout Mouse Consortium (IKMC) and International Mouse Phenotype Consortium (IMPC), and they are persistently expanding the KO mouse catalogue that is publicly available for the researches studying specific genes of interests in vivo. However, new technologies, adopting zinc-finger nucleases (ZFNs) or Transcription Activator-Like Effector (TALE) Nucleases (TALENs) to edit the mouse genome, are now emerging as valuable and effective shortcuts alternative for the conventional gene targeting using ES cells. Here, we introduce the recent achievement of IKMC, and evaluate the significance of ZFN/TALEN technology in mouse genetics.

Recently, various types of camera mouse are developed using the image processing. The camera mouse showed limited performance compared to the traditional optical mouse in terms of the response time and the usability. These problems are caused by the mismatch between the size of the monitor and that of the active pixel area of the CMOS Image Sensor. To overcome these limitations, we designed a new input device that uses the face recognition as well as the speech recognition simultaneously. In the proposed system, the area of the monitor is partitioned into 'n' zones. The face recognition is performed using the web-camera, so that the mouse pointer follows the movement of the face of the user in a particular zone. The user can switch the zone by speaking the name of the zone. The multimodal mouse is analyzed using the Keystroke Level Model and the initial experiments was performed to evaluate the feasibility and the performance of the proposed system.
