Objectives : The Purpose of this report is to examine the effect of Remote Acupuncture Point Needling in the Low Back Pain patient of Acute Stage. Methods : From October 1st 2005 to May 31th 2006, 30 cases of low back pain patients at acute stage were divided into 2 groups; one group(control group) took near acupuncture point needling, and the other group(test group) took near acupuncture point needling with remote acupuncture point needling. For evaluating change of pain, Visual Analog Scale(VAS) was checked before and after Treatment. Results : Both acupuncture therapy showed good effect on low back pain of acute stage. And test group showed better effect on decreasing pain than control group. It was proved by the difference between VAS checked before treatment and what checked after treatment. But it was not significant statistically. Conclusion : Near acupuncture point needling and remote acupuncture point needling can be recommended as a useful therapy to treat low back pain of acute stage.

Objectives : The purpose of this research was to compare remote and near acupuncture point needling with near acupuncture point needling acupuncture on posterior neck pain treatment. Methods : We divided 36 patients with posterior neck pain patient into two groups and treated Group A with near acupuncture and remote acupuncture point needling and Group B with near acupuncture point needling. The efficacy of treatment was measured by VAS scores and NDI scores of before and after 5 days to start treatment. Results : Both group A and B represented effective improvement in VAS and NDI of neck pain. And group A is more effective than B group statistically. Conclusions : It was suggested that near acupuncture and remote acupuncture point needling might have more effect compared with near acupuncture point needling acupuncture on posterior neck pain treatment.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of near acupuncture point needling and remote acupuncture point needling on treating ankle sprain of acute stage. Methods : From March 1st, 2007 to May 30th, 2007, the 50 patients who had visited Iksan oriental medical hospital, Wonkwang university with acute ankle sprain were divided into 2 groups ; one group took near acupunture point needling, and the other group took remote acupunture point needling. Both group had been treated with the same additional rest, ice, compression and elevation(RICE) therapy. To evaluating the efficiency of each treatment, Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and Ankle-Hindfoot Scale(AHS) were applied before 1st treatment and after 3rd treatment. Results : As a result of evaluation by using AHS, the score change comparison between the two groups had no significance after the treatment. As a result of evaluation by using VAS, treatment score of remote acupucture point needling was marked lower than score of near acupucture point needling. Conclusion : Remote acupucture point needling is more effective than near acupucture point needling in controlling the pain of acute ankle sprain.

Objectives : This study was planned to show the influences of acupuncture treatment on peroneus muscles of acute inversion ankle sprain patients. Methods : This study was carried out on the 24 patients who had been treated for their acute inversion ankle sprain from July 1 to December 31, 2010 in the department of oriental rehibilitaion medicine, Dongsuwon oriental medicine hospital. And we divided those 24 patients into 2 groups; group A took near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment, group B took common treatment only. To evaluate the efficiency of each treatment, all patients were examined with visual analogue scale(VAS) and ankle-hindfoot scale(AHS) score before treatment and after the 3rd treatment. Results : On the AHS scores, there's no significant difference between the two groups after the treatment. And on the VAS scores, group A who took near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment showed higher change of VAS than group B who took common treatment only, but it did not show statistical significance in VAS score. Conclusions : In this study, there is no significant effect between common treatment only and near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment for acute ankle sprain.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare with the effect of acupuncture treatment with or without indirect moxibustion treatment for acute ankle sprain. Methods : This study was carried out on the 48 patients who had been treated for acute ankle sprain from June 1st to November 30th 2009 in the Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation, Pohang Oriental Medical Hospital, Daegu Hanny University. The patients were divided into 3 groups ; Group A took near acupuncture point_needling, Group B took remote acupuncture point needling, Group C took remote acupuncture point needling with indirect moxibustion. 3 Groups had been co-treated with rest, ice, compression and elevation(RICE) therapy, physical treatment and administered Ojeok-san(Wuji-san) extract granule. To evaluating the efficiency of each treatment, Ankle-Hindfoot Scale(AHS) and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) were applied before treatment and after 3rd treatment. Results : In results, the AHS scores were increased and the VAS scores were decreased after 3rd treatment in all group. Also, AHS scores and the VAS scores of intergroup were showed no significant change. Conclusions : In this study, there is no significant effect between only acupuncture treatment and moxibustion co-treatment for acute ankle sprain.

Object : This study was planned to show the influences of MET(muscle energy techniques) treatment and acupuncture treatment on iliopsoas muscles of sprain and strain of lumbar spine patients. Method : This study was carried out on the 39 patients who had been treated for their sprain and strain of lumbar spine from March 2 to October 15, 2010 in the department of oriental rehabilitaion medicine, Dongsuwon oriental medicine hospital. And 22 out of 39 patients had a tenderness and pain in their iliopsoas muscles. And we divided those 22 patients into 2 groups by blocked randomization; group A took near acupuncture point needling treatment on the iliopsoas muscles, group B took MET(muscle energy techniques) treatment on the iliopsoas muscles. To evaluate the efficiency of each treatment, all patients were examined with VAS(visual analogue scale) before treatment and after the 3rd, 5th treatment. Result : On the VAS, it was decreased significantly after treatment in all groups. And it didn't show the clear difference between two groups. Conclusion : In this study, it did not show statistical difference in VAS between two groups.
